What's not to love about this series, or about this book. The main plot is that this sleazy real estate developer has been murdered and Brianna, one of Dev’s ex-girlfriends, is the prime suspect after she left notes at the victim’s home, office, and car threatening to KILL him! She calls Dev for help and he enlists his friend and business partner, Louie Lauften, to defend her. There are two side stories, one involving purse snatchers who are victimizing mostly older women in Dev’s neighborhood. What's not to love about this series, or about this book. Throw in new girlfriend Taffy and a disastrous trip to the lake, add a pinch of Tubby Gustafson and Fat Freddy, and you have one really great read filled with laughs and even a few tears (the good kind).

A lot of different plots going on in one book and I have a few different feelings abt the book itself. There were some stereotypes particularly with the women: Brianna and Taffy both seem a bit simplistic and more concerned with make up and clothes rather then reality. The 'bad guys' were very typical bad guys swarmy and big. The really good part of this book were the dogs who came through and foiled more evil doing and in the end even had happy endings!!

The main theme of this story, is that Dev's old girlfriend has been arrested for murder. He and Louie need to find the real killer. There are two sub-plots that sort of become main plots. A group of thugs have been driving around and stealing women's purses. They have been impossible to catch, because there is no pattern to who they target or where they ate. The other sub-plot is a group of dogs that Morton befriends and are camped out in his yard. Dev and Morton become hosts to four dogs who come into Dev's yard. Soon they are all in the kitchen when Dev discovers the German Shepard has a prosthetic leg. He knows the Shepard must have served with the Army or Marines so Dev is determined to find the owner of this dog and to find homes for the others. He also has to deal with Fat Freddy and Tubby Gustafson and some really bad guys. When you read how the Shepard is reunited with his family you will cry. It is sad and rewarding. Great story Dev's in trouble again. His friend Brianna is charged with murder. Louis watches Morton while Dev's away and he has 4 new friends that Louis has been feeding all week. There are purse snatchers who have attacked a number of women. A group of dogs save a woman. I loved this story. The story, the people and especially the dogs. Great story Dev's in trouble again. Great Read a few Dev's. Have always been frustrated how, for a capable investigator, he looks the fool. This Dev has evolved and the traits we like are still their but the universe has given up hassling him. I hope this trend continues. Great Read a few Dev's. unfortunately the story of the dogs really didn't have a major part of the book at all At one point near the beginning, I even rechecked the cover to be sure I'd selected the correct book! however, I did enjoy the story unfortunately the story of the dogs really didn't have a major part of the book at all At one point near the beginning, I even rechecked the cover to be sure I'd selected the correct book! however, I did enjoy the story

Likable LOVE this author, his stories never disappoint. Relatable characters draw you in and keep you entertained. Glad to see his dog get quite a bit of action in this tale. Can't wait for the next one. Likable LOVE this author, his stories never disappoint. Relatable characters draw you in and keep you entertained. If I could give more than a 5 star I would....I absolutely could not put this down. This is one of the best books I have read and I read a lot! It's mesmerizing. Highly recommend it, not at all what you might expect and you won't be disappointed! My next book COLD CASE another by Mike Faricy. Good Read I would had like it better if more was given from the dogs perspectives! The dogs were carrying out a mission of their own and doing a good job of it. While the other characters were going from one plot to another?!

I've read scads of Mike Faricy's books. But this one was the most entertaining. The group of stray dogs really steal the show, besides being the heroes. I've read scads of Mike Faricy's books.
