Well, my mother did, and that was fine because she’s been that way with me since birth. My plan was simple - secure the only position available after completing my summer internship, accepting a job reserved for me. All I had to do was show up. How hard could that be, right? I’m focused enough, I’m bright enough, hell... I have the assuredness of one trillion beauty queens and a smile that would blind the sun. With men, I was just as sure. I knew the prototype of man I was born to end up with. Knew everything about him down to the social class his family needed to be in because hierarchy matters to me. And Jayce Martin? He didn’t have the clout to check off a single box on my ideal partner list. Jayce shouldn’t even hold a pencil anywhere near my list! Then why on earth is it a challenge keeping my mind off this guy… or my heart from wanting to love him?” Jayce Martin “My family has always been my priority. Every move I ever executed, every choice I ever made, my intentions have always been to put them in a better position. So, my plan was simple - secure a property for my mother and my younger twin siblings by landing a coveted position at one of the top law firms in the country with a focus on pocketing their sign-on bonus. I planned to intern there after graduation. This was a chance of a lifetime! People always said I was smart, but opportunities like this one bypassed guys like me often. I mean... the fact they selected me out of a pool of thousands of applicants was my life’s plot twist. But here I am, my mind sharpened, my goals clear, and the job mine if I prove that I’m worthy. Then why is it difficult to keep my head in the game and my mind off this girl named Summer McKoy?” Believed to be the gateway through where all sins enter the mortal soul, pride wears the crown as the sin that gives rise to all other sins. If the vices were a tree, pride would be the root. What will happen when pride, the sin of which all sins come from, falls in love with its opposite, a virtue, humility? *This book contains sexually explicit content. Love > Pride Pride (The Love is Cure, Vol. 1 Vices & Virtues book 1) by Brookelyn Mosley is about recent Langston University graduates Summer McKoy and Jayce Martin. Summer has spent the last 4 years ignoring Jayce’s heated looks. Too bad Summer and Jayce are both interning at Bloom & Associates, it makes it downright impossible for Summer to continue to ignore him. Jayce comes from humble beginnings and Summer a silver spoon but you know what they say about opposites. Summer seems like the uppity mean girl but it’s obvious she’s been brainwashed. Summer’s mom tries to live through her, she tells Summer the most ridiculous things that she of course internalizes. Summer’s mom is a genuine mess, her ideologies are terrible and contradictory considering her own situation. She’s the root of Summer’s false pride! Jayce is a sweetheart, the love and dedication he shows his family is admirable. He’s attracted to Summer but he doesn’t let her step all over him and he calls her out on her terrible views. He’s humble but he has a quiet confidence that fills a room. Plus he’s oh so good at humbling Summer 😉 It’s hard not to love Jayce, he’s kind and 10 toes down always. Even when the thing between them is undefined he still looks out for Summer. I really enjoyed this story, of course Summer & Jayce get hot and heavy emphasis on heavy 👀🥵 🤤 But they also have substance, in their most intimate moments they bare it all!! I look forward to reading more from this series!

Simply amazing!! I love love this book it was an amazing read. I’m not surprised in the least because Brookelyn always delivers an astounding read. Jayce was so goddamn amazing and so kind and lovable. Thank goodness for a man that can hold his own in every arena. I loved Summer also she was definitely a product of her environment that her mother created. But I hate that her father’s wife was so damn evil and bitter that you would allow a man to deny and care for his child. So freaking amazing th Simply amazing!! Summer was...something else. Honestly I feel like if the things that came out of her mouth weren't so ridiculously and outrageously rude and condescending...that they were actually funny, I don't know that I would have been able to enjoy this story. I get that to story was supposed to be about Pride and how different people wear and weild their pride, but she was JUST...I mean JUST too much. Some of the things she would say...OUT LOUD to Jayce made me seriously question (like other characters in Summer was...something else. Some of the things she would say...OUT LOUD to Jayce made me seriously question (like other characters in the book) just what it was he saw in her that made him want to be around her. They say you can be the most gorgeous person on the outside but if your inside is rotten, then no amount of good looks can make you appear attractive. And while I don't think Summner is rotten on the inside by a LONG stretch, some of her views and ideas about other people and their relation to her, didn't exactly make her the most likeable person. I say all that to say...Brookelyn did a great job of pushing Summers ridiculousness JUST over the edge enought that I found her to be more funny than annoying and so it wasn't hard for me to at least start to like her and root for her and Jayce in this story. Thats it..thats all. I just wanted to vent about how much I didn't like Summer to end up liking her :)

Loved it OMG I loved this book. I love a good frenemies to lovers book and this book was that and so much more. Sumner saw Jayce as an enemy simply based on his background and her perception of him. In all actuality she positioned him as an enemy to fight her attraction to him. Jayce was initially attracted to Summer of course because of her looks and body but after working together at BBA he saw there was something more to her than the superficial. This was my first read from thus author but I will definitely be checking out more of her work starting with book 2 of this series.

I really like the start of this new series. Summer's in a class, lane, planet, and atmosphere all by herself and there's nothing that anyone can say nor do to make her think any differently of herself. Sadly, her motivation was for all the wrong reasons. Jayce was a hard worker and a breath of fresh air that brought some humility into Summer's world. It's okay to have confidence but pride is something else. I really like the start of this new series. Jayce is yummy!!!!!1 Jayce and Summer gave me the feels. They came from different backgrounds, opposite ends of the spectrum in regards to family dynamics. But gosh almighty they belonged together. A complex, story well written with a HEA. The chemistry between Summer and Jayce is off the charts. This is a good read.

Perfect! Pride was so good!!it was the perfect mix of everything. I love how opposites attracted in this book and how he was able to get her to not be so shallow and a little more realistic. I’m not gonna lie in the beginning she really got on my nerves but by the end I loved her.

Jayce!! I loved this story. Stuck up, bourgeois girl grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth and laid back guy from the hood. Opposites attract but love was definitely in the air. I loved the characters and easy flow of the writer's penmanship. Definitely recommend Jayce!! I loved this story.
