A fun addition to your Christmas story collection. I, personally, hated one of the characters. With a passion. I couldn’t wait to put it down and now...of all the books in this collection, that is the one I’m leaning towards going back to read. Because I want to see the good in that character and want to take the time to savor the changes in her person. And that, to me, is the sign of a really good book—characters that you love to hate... until you learn to love them despite their flaws.

Do you love a good holiday romance? If so, All Is Bright is a must read. You do not get just ONE great romance but FOUR. All Is Bright is a collection of Christmas novellas from authors Kari Trumbo, Toni Shiloh, Cathe Swanson, and Chautona Havig. This is the first that I have read from any of these authors, but I am certainly looking forward to reading more. Each story can be read on their own, or read them all... in any order. Their shorter length makes them quick reads perfect for the holiday season. Let's take a look at each story: Merry and Dashing was up first. I love a good story in which there is one Scrooge like character until someone full of Christmas spirit comes along and shows them the error of their ways. Merry and Dashing certainly had that, but with the female being the Scrooge unlike many other types of stories. It was a great romance, but also a great story to remind us that Christmas is not about the commercial aspects, but about giving. I'll Be Home was next up. In this one we meet Starr who has returned home for the holidays after losing her job. It is packed for of family drama-- including a sister scheduled to marry her ex who had left her upon deciding he liked her sister better. Ouch! You can only imagine the drama that follows. In the midst of this, Starr reconnects with her brother's best friend and sparks fly! This was probably my favorite story of the bunch... I loved the family dynamics, the romance... and I have to say all the Christmas themed names throughout made me smile too. It was just a really fantastic story and one that I definitely did not want to end. Season of Change was a bit different than the others in this collection in that it didn't feel quite as much like a Christmas story to me. The timeline on this one started earlier and so most of the story really didn't take place at Christmas at all. Still, it was an interesting story and a fun addition to this collection. Again, I loved the family dynamics in this story, and found the characters to be really unique and endearing. I would love to revisit these characters again! The 12 Dates of Christmas would make a great Christmas RomCom movie. To be honest, I really wasn't a fan of the leading lady Reagan at first. It seemed to me that she held a lot of grudges for seemingly innocent events... but then aren't many of us guilty of that? It made for an interesting story as we watched her walls break down with each date. By the end I was rooting for her and for her relationship with Alex. Overall, these are all great lighthearted holiday reads. There were some I enjoyed more than others, but all left me with a smile, which truly is what I look for in a holiday read. Fans of clean holiday romances will certainly want to check out this collection! **I received a complimentary copy of this collection for consideration. All thoughts are 100% my own.

Merry and Dashing by Kari Trumbo Merry doesn’t like the commercialism of Christmas and is always in a bad mood the 3 months leading up to it. Jordan loves Christmas and chooses to ignore the commercialism. He gave His life to Jesus and he’s here to serve and happens to love his volunteer job to work in his friends thrift store for the special Christmas store they set up yearly. Merry’s mom strongly suggests she volunteer and the thrift store, where she meets Jordan and he determines to help her see Christmas in a different light. Love the 2 main characters and the minor characters we see round out the story nicely. This story is set in Minnesota during the months of November and December. I’ll Be Home by Toni Shiloh Starr is home for the holidays, carrying the secret of being unemployed. She doesn’t want to mention it til after the holidays and her sister’s wedding, and comes from a successful family, with all her siblings having successful careers. Waylon, comes for Thanksgiving dinner with Noel, and can’t believe how much she’s changed over the years. He then starts his bid to make things more enjoyable for Starr while she’s helping her sister with her wedding preparations, as well as working to convince her to give him a chance. Love the gentle humor throughout the story and the characters are likeable. Season of Change by Cathe Swanson Charlea has lost everything in a house fire, with the exception of a few things. Though she’s sad on one hand, she’s excited to be able to make her own choices and start anew. She’s not thrilled with having to move in with her mom. She runs into Drew in town when she’s checking her oil. Throughout the story I was suspicious of one character. I really liked Drew and his Uncle Burt, along with Pamela and Sam. Nice story, where a plot twist brings a few people together to pull off what has been planned for the holiday season. The 12 Dates of Christmas by Chautona Havig Reagan is back home visiting for the month of December, on a long overdue vacation. Unfortunately, she runs into Alexander, literally, and he asks her out for coffee. That one “date” turns into him figuring out what he can apologize for from their time in high school so she’ll go out with him. Fun, page turning book with lots of Christmas cheer and activities they take in on their dates. Great story about how our perceptions can be wrong, and learning to let go and heal from slights that weren’t intended. A few well rounded minor characters in their parents and her brother and sister in law, make for some humor as well as growth.

Typically, we have Scrooge as being a male role, but this time the Scrooge personality is taken over by a female! Kari takes us on a story of Merry having her heart and life changed as she opens up and helps others with the help of Dashing. I will definitely be checking out Kari Trumbo’s stories in the future! In Toni Shiloh’s I’ll Be Home, we get to visit with a family for the holidays. As Starr is battling with a lot of personal let-downs, we see her persevere and find her purpose in life. I loved the name choices for the characters in this story, especially the main family! It is a little steamy (but not in a bad way or too severe!), so use personal discretion if letting your pre-teen or teen read it. I will definitely be checking out Toni Shiloh’s stories in the future also! In Seasons of Change by Cathe Swanson, we are transported to an amazing setting and quickly drawn into the story line. I love Pamela’s character as well as how she interacts with the other characters. Oh, and the plot twist? Totally caught me off guard! I was a bit judgmental of the character and this one waylaid me!! I am excited to see that this says Serenity Hill #1, and am crossing my fingers that Cathe will bring us more stories based on these characters! In 12 Dates of Christmas, Chautona Havig hits on what a lot of us experience throughout our lives: the ability to see a situation the way it was unintended to be and hold onto a grudge for years. As the story went on, I found myself rooting for the characters while getting to know them. While I feel like this story wraps up nicely, so I don’t know if there will be a continuation along the way, I definitely would not object to reading more about them? These stories are a great bargain, and a wonderful, fun, entertaining way to spend your cold evenings curled up reading!!

The Twelve Dates of Christmas is quirky with humor, just as you would expect. However, it also deals with unforgiveness and the role that it can play in your life. Merry and Dashing by Kari Trumbo has plenty of humor and bills itself as a female Scrooge with her Christmas elf helping her along. That is an accurate representation of the story, but it also incorporates the sweetness that you find in 'The Gift of the Magi' by O. Henry. "I'll Be Home" by Toni Shiloh takes a young woman who has been laid off and sends her back into her high achieving family. To top it off, her sister is marrying the boyfriend that rejected her after meeting the sister. What I loved about this book was that the author didn't take the easy way out by making everything 'perfect' come to her. She had her work through it and help others before giving her a sweet and real happy ending. Finally there is "Season of Change" by Cathe Swanson. This one is full of great characters. Lots of scope for books to follow. The name fits so well because the book starts with a house fire that starts the changes. In addition to the quirky characters, there are plenty of perceptions that get broken, changed, twisted and make changes to the characters and their relationships. Be ready for a few surprises and the single worst outcome of a date ever.

It amazes me how each story is written by different people, and yet they blend together so wonderfully. I know ultimately that is God right there - putting these authors together to tell His story, but I feel like some credit should be given to them as well. It can't be easy pairing four stories together, and I have no idea how the process goes, but kudos to these four ladies for making it work, and making it work well! I highly recommend this, and other Christmas Lights collections (if you haven't read them) to put you in the holiday mood. Grab a fuzzy blanket, some hot cocoa, pull up a comfy seat and start reading! I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. Great collection of Christian contemporary novellas for the Christmas season! I found four new-to-me authors to read and that's the best part for me. These stories contain ordinary, everyday flawed people finding love, and deepening their faith along the way. I fell in love with every one of these stories and I think you will too! All these authors are refreshing and definitely on my list of "new" favorite Christian writers. Great collection of Christian contemporary novellas for the Christmas season! Settle back, get comfy, relax and have fun reading stories that will get you in the Christmas spirit. Merry and Dashing by Kari Trumbo From the moment I started reading this story I fell in love with Merry. She isn't so happy this year as she finds herself all alone for the holidays. I had to laugh when she found out her parents had made other plans. Her mother's suggestion to volunteer has Merry thinking maybe it would be nice and maybe not. The Thrifty Pumpkin is a perfect place for Merry to share some holiday cheer. Merry has a lot of cheering up to do if she expects to help people at the shop. Jacob is a wonderful character who is cheery and encourages Merry to volunteer. He has been doing it for ten years and knows the reward you get from being there. I loved reading about the thrift store and all it had to offer. The author reminds us that Christmas is about giving and being a blessing. I don't think I have really taken the time to think about those without warm coats or even a place to keep warm much. This story excites me to go volunteer and that is just what I will do for the holidays. I need cheering up and what better way than to help others. It's a lovely story that helps one person understand the true meaning of Christmas while finding joy and love. I'll Be Home by Toni Shiloh Going home for the holidays should be exciting, but for Starr it was bitter sweet. She has a big secret she is trying to hide and there is that little matter of her sister marrying her ex-boyfriend. This is going to be a holiday Starr will never forget. I felt a twinge of sadness for Starr as she has always felt left out in her family. I loved how the author writes Starr with compassion and a need to feel wanted. I know what it is like to feel unwanted by your family. The feeling of rejection is deep and only God can heal that wound. I loved the author sharing the lighting of the National Christmas Tree. What a beautiful sight that would be. Starr is with her family and an old friend named Waylon enjoying the festivities. I'm not to sure that I liked Angel very much. She is so focused on her wedding that she hasn't really made Starr feel welcomed. There is tension between them that could cause a big problem. I loved reading about how Starr and Waylon started to have feelings for each other. The author writes a wonderful story with a look at sibling rivalry, forgiveness and a bright future. Season of Change by Cathe Swanson Losing everything in a fire has to be devastating. For Charlea she now has to live with her mother while she figures out what to do after the tragic fire. I can't imagine what it would be like to stand there and see your home as a pile of ashes. I was intrigued where the author would go with this story and see if Charlea could have a better relationship with her mother. I must say Charlea's mother is quite unique and a bit eccentric in many ways. She has a carefree attitude and I wasn't sure if she was happy to share her home with Charlea. I absolutely loved the line Charlea's mother said; " You don't have to go to church to be a Christian." I have said that many times to people. Just because you carry a bible doesn't make you a Christian. All these sayings are true. Your actions show if you are a Christian. I am starting to like Charlea's mom a little more. I found Charlea's job very fascinating. Helping senior citizens downsize to a better living environment can have its rewards. It also can be heartbreaking seeing people have to give up their home and special items . I loved reading about Woodstock and thought the author did a great job of including it in the story to remind us of a time in history that will never be forgotten . The story is filled with wonderful information about running a farm and it made me think of my granddad's farm in Oklahoma. There are wonderful characters in the story and a beautiful example of family coming together in a crisis. The faith element is good and really highlights the importance of trusting God. There are a few surprises in the story and unexpected romances that make this story so inspiring. 12 Dates of Christmas Reagan has come home for the holidays hoping for relaxation. Thanks to her mother Reagan now has a speaking engagement at the school she attended years ago. I laughed when she ran into her old nemesis Alex. Reagan sure can hold a grudge. She is not the least bit happy to see Alex and demands an apology for the way he treated her in school. I wanted to tell her to get over herself. Has she ever heard the word forgive? The interactions between Reagan and Alex are classic. I loved reading their banter and especially liked how Alex encouraged Reagan to get out of her comfort zone. She may seem to have it all together, but deep inside is a person screaming with insecurity. The story is fun to read as each date between Alex and Reagan is filled with an apology. Reagan begins to see a different side of Alex as he becomes more important to her. I loved their dates and how the author blends faith into the story that delivers a message about forgiving and believing in yourself. I have to say this story would be perfect as a made for TV movie. I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

Have read a Christmas collection before and was a good selection, by good authors of which I enjoyed. This one again has top authors and their stories are interwoven with the theme of Christmas. To not wanting to celebrate, to losing everything to a fire, unemployed, yet a wedding is to take place, or taking a vacation for the month. These are special, they are tender moments as we read in each one, of how the special meaning comes for them. Well done once again, the chance to read one or all .

"Merry and Dashing" by Kari Trumbo- This story didn't flow very well for me, so it took me a little bit to get into it. It turns out it is off a woman I met 3 days ago at the store I volunteer at." Would have been honest and not been seen as a relationship or friendship. This is my first book/story by Kari Trumbo and I would be interested in trying some of her other books. "I'll be Home" by Toni Shiloh-- I have read many of Toni Shiloh's books, so reading this story was a little like visiting with a friend. I like how her books flow. Even though this is a novella, it didn't feel like it. It gave you a whole bang for your buck. I liked Starr and empathized with her situation in her family and I liked Waylon and his charming ways. I liked the faith thread and clear gospel message given. I look forward to reading more of Toni Shiloh's books. "Season of Change" by Cathe Swanson-- I was drawn into the story and wanted to keep reading to see what was going to happen. There was a bit of mystery as to what was going on at Charlea's work that added a little bit of a different layer that was fun. I also liked getting to know some of the secondary characters and that I would get to learn more about them in the upcoming books in the series. "The 12 Dates of Christmas" by Chautona Havig-- I enjoyed reading this story. I liked seeing the characters grow and change. I felt the story had a nice flow and didn't seem rushed. There were nice biblical principles woven through the story as well. I thought it was fun how she tied the story with "The Ghosts of New Cheltenham".

This book represents the fourth book in the Christmas Lights collection and is just as captivating as the previous books. The collection begins with Kari Trumbo’s book. What should a woman to do when her brother decides not to come home for Christmas and her parents decide to head south for the winter? Merry winds up being pushed out of her comfort zone by her mother encouraging her to volunteer at a thrift store. She finds the commercialization of Christmas unacceptable. But then she mets Jacob, someone who loves searching for and finding the absolutely perfect present for everyone. So when the two meet, interesting things are bound to happen. The next story is Toni Shiloh’s I’ll Be Home. Losing your job, having to move home, and topping it all off with having to go to your sister’s wedding (who happens to be marrying your ex-boyfriend) provides a horrible situation. But becoming reintroduced to your brother’s best friend and taking a second look provides hope for the future. A second chance at romance occurs in Cathe Swanson’s Seasons of Change provides a wonderful look at what can happen when you meet someone from your past. Cathe Swanson does an incredible job of creating settings and characters that pull me into the story. Finally, the collection concludes with Chautona Havig’s The Twelve Dates of Christmas. Regan saw Alex as her high school nemesis, but he is taken by surprise when he discovers that years later. Chautona Havig does a remarkable job of creating memorable stories that make me want to keep reading. So check out this collection for yourself. I received a copy of this book for my fair and honest review.

I have not read a story by Toni Shiloh that I haven't enjoyed and that record still holds with this one. I loved Waylon, with his corny lines and huge heart. His care for Starr and the way he fell for her so completely was sweet. Reagan and Alex were an unlikely match in The 12 Dates of Christmas. Reagan had been so hurt by Alex when they were in high school. Seeing the events that had affected her from both of their perspectives was very interesting and really showed how what we think we see is not necessarily the whole truth. Reagan's idea that Alex needed to figure out why she was upset with him was a little childish yet it made sense that she might have done this. It was amazing that in the time they spent together, Alex was able to see past her hurt and began to be attracted to her. Enough to spend time doing research, trying to find out all the many reasons she felt he had wronged her so he could apologize - one apology per date. If you enjoy light-hearted Christmas stories with a faith message, this is a great collection to read. Read my full review at Among the Reads I was given a copy of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.

I enjoyed seeing how the characters changed and grew throughout the story, and was surprised to see my opinions of them change through the story as well; characters that I had found annoying at the beginning I found myself wanting as a friends, while others that I had sympathized with at the beginning, I realized weren’t perfect and were responsible for a lot of their own frustrations (but I still really liked them!). That was not the only story I enjoyed, though! I loved reading about all the silly ways that Alex unknowingly offended Reagan, wondering how Jacob and Merry would manage to start a relationship and still keep their jobs (that didn’t allow employee relationships), and how Starr was going to find her place in her close and loving, but also somewhat inconsiderate and oblivious, family. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for some light reading to get you in the mood for the holidays!

All is Bright collection Reading a collection of books gives the reader a chance to find authors new to them. These are some fun stories. Merry and Dashing by Kari Trumbo I loved Merry and Jacob story. They meet where Merry is volunteering at the thrift store. I enjoyed reading about the thrift store. Merry is a graphic designer, her company named after cat. Such a cute name if Purrsonality. Her being a graphic designer is a huge part of the story. I’ll Be Home by Toni Shiloh Starr goes home for her sisters wedding. Before going home she had just been laid off from her job. She doesn’t know what she is going to do. She has to decide if she is going to find a job back in New York or stay home. I enjoyed Starr and Waylon story. Also enjoyed Starr family, there is a story of forgiveness there. Season of Change by Cathe Swanson In this book I enjoyed all the adventures on the farm. It starts out with Charlea Evans losing her home due to a fire. She goes to live with her mom, who is quite the character. 12 dates of Christmas by Chautona Havig I loved the story of Alex and Reagan. Enjoying their dates and fun they had. Reagan does all kinds of different projects that doesn’t always work like she wants . I received a complimentary copy of the book from Celebrate Lit. This book review is my own opinion.

Merry and Dashing by Kari Trumbo. Christmas was not her favorite time of the year until she met Jacob. The journey Merry took to get her priorities right and to embrace the Reason and love of the season will warm your heart. A beautiful story of love, God's love and sacrifice. I'll be home by Toni Shiloh. Leave it to Toni to wrap your heart with love and real life lessons. 4.5 stars Merry and Dashing Such a sweet Christmas read. Merry needed some serious Christmas spirit, and I’m glad Jacob could throw a little Christmas elf magic her way. Every town needs a thrift store like Abe’s and people who’s hearts are as big as Merry’s, even if she is a Christmas grinch. I’ll be Home Poor Starr. She felt like everything in life had turned against her. Thank goodness God had plans she knew nothing about to help turn her Christmas season around. Season of Change Charlea and Drew had some big issues to work through. Charlea’s anger toward Drew kept the tension going until the end. The dynamic between all three women kept the story fresh and interesting. 12 Dates of Christmas Reagan and Alex, what a pair. And so many references to other books. I don’t know how Chautona does it. Sometimes, it’s easier to blame someone else for a perceived insult than it is to believe in their innocence. Altogether, a beautiful and heartfelt message of Christmas love and the spirit of giving.

This was a wonderful collection dealing with different themes from the young woman dealing with insecure and heartbreak trying to fit into her over achieving family to the Christmas Scrooge who gets to learn more about the joy of Christmas and the fact that it's not all commercial and she has the perfect elf to teach her just that. I enjoyed these four Christmas-themed novellas. I don’t read much romance, but these authors offer fun, clean stories with delightful scenes and interesting characters you might like to know in real life. It’s hard to pick a favorite from the collection. Each is unique and held my attention. In fact, I could read them any time of year. But they’re especially nice this time of year to curl up with something warm and cozy (besides the book, I mean). This may be a book you want to reread every holiday season. And look for other books by these talented authors too. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.

These stories are just as sweet as the Christmas season itself. Each story is long enough to make the storyline seem complete; yet they are the perfect length to read and enjoy during a busy holiday season. I very much enjoyed two of the four stories in this collection. Cathe Swanson's book is great. The conflict between Charlea and Pamela was frustrating, and I was happy when it got resolved. I loved that Pamela was a hippie who found salvation through the Jesus People! I also enjoyed 12 Dates of Christmas. It was a fairly fluffy read, but there was a lot about forgiveness and sibling relationships in it. What a fun collection. Each story is unique and you get a taste of each author’s writing style. I really enjoyed the first story, it definitely had a “hallmark” feel to it. I liked the second story as well and Starr’s struggle with fitting in with her family. I have felt that at times myself. The last story also had a great message about forgiveness. What better time of year then now to move past the things in our past and embrace the future. A copy of this book was given to me through the Celebrate What a fun collection. This book collection has been such a delight to read and got me in the Christmas spirit. It is written by several different authors, and each story will bring a warm feeling to your heart and soul. They were all filled with sweet Christmas moments and messages. All is Bright is the perfect way to begin your holiday season. All 4 stories are Sweet little stories. They all have the theme where people have ideas in the head of what should be the perfect Christmas and the knowledge of how their family/Christmas will fall short. But they all get to learn that what makes Christmas and families special and wonderful is not an ideal perfect dream, but the imperfect people that we love.

I really enjoyed this collection. I enjoy the authors separately, so when they come together, I knew this would be something special. I was right. I really enjoyed Ms. Havig's addition the best, but I will admit that I was skeptical of it at first. Now it is my favorite! I will reread this collection often, likely every year before Christmas (or on Christmas break!) Worth every penny! I really enjoyed this collection.
