One Last Breath by Sarah Sutton This is the 2nd book in the Tara Mills series and can be read as a stand alone. Girls are being murdered and buried on a beach by a serial killer can Tara and Warren her partner find out who the killer is before more young girls are murdered all while Tara is trying to figure out who exactly murdered her mother was it her father or someone else? Can't wait to read more from this author and this series! I received an ARC and leave my opinion freely. 4 stelle e mezza Libro abbastanza corto, sono poco più di 200 pagine, ma assai denso, con due casi da risolvere: il primo contemporaneo, per così dire, e il secondo un cold case che riguarda l'omicidio della madre della protagonista. The second book in the Tara Mills series, One Last Breath could be read as a stand alone book. Girls are being murdered and its up to Tara and her partner Warren to solve who is doing it. As this is going on she is also dealing with issues from her past that she is searching for answers for. Overall I found this to be an enjoyable read, very well written. The pace of the book was good also, things were happening at a decent pace where the book didn't seem to drag like some books do. First let me say this is the second in the series, but it can be read as a standalone. This book was amazing, it gave me exactly what I was looking for, that edge of the seat suspense. I love the it swapped between views especially when it was the serial killer about to get one of the girls it made me yell at my phone! Can't wait to read more from thus author! I received a digital copy for free from Book Sirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is the second book in the Tara Mills Mystery Series. I enjoyed the first book which describes Tara Mills, a newbie FBI agent, right out of Quantico matches up with veteran Agent Warren. They are an unlikely pair who take some time adjusting to being partners. This book could pretty much stand alone without feeling like you missed something. The books both end with questions that carry over into the next book. Tara takes time off to recover after the last case of the Appalachian Trail Killer where she went rogue and nearly got herself killed. She still carries the trauma of her father killing her mother when she was 6 years old. After her father went to prison in New York she lived with her grandmother until she died of cancer. Tara worked for the NYPD before eventually training for the FBI. All these years later and Tara still holds some unresolved questions from the night her mother was killed. She senses that there may have been another person aside from her father that night. This storyline plays in the backdrop of the murder investigation in this novel. A body of a teen girl is found buried in the sand at the beach which spreads light on a cold case from last year. A teen girl went missing a year ago and no body was ever found. This discovery has them combing the beach where they discover the body of the missing girl. Unfortunately, it seems to be the work of a serial killer and they need to find him before he kills again. The frustrating part of the story is how Tara gets so overwhelmed and consumed by the case that it affects her ability to sleep or interact with her live in boyfriend, John. In this case, she does at least have some restraint before going rogue and notifies her partner and local police. She is the newbie and certainly shouldn’t be chasing down leads alone with a potentially dangerous suspect. She knows she has backup coming but pursues her suspicion and confronts a possible serial murder alone. Maybe I watch too many FBI shows but it seems that Tara might have missed some tactical training at Quantico. She is not confronting a suspect who is armed or has the physical training one would think she had. She always seems to get injured or thrown off guard by the suspect. Of course, the story ends with the case being solved but to what cost. I enjoy the storyline and look forward to books 3 and 4 coming down the line.

So, this is the second book in the Tara Mills Mystery series, and just as I was not blown away by the first book, neither was I blown away by this book, for many of the same reasons ... and I found it somewhat formulaic, which irritated me actually. I don't like giving low reviews, but sometimes it is warranted. I felt rather frustrated about the happenings in the book at times. The dynamic between Agent Tara and Agent Warren, was confusing with her taking the lead the majority of the time, even though she is a rookie (1 month has passed from the first book and she had just joined the FBI) and he a seasoned FBI agent. The writing style was somewhat 'meh' and at times it seemed quite silly to me. Perhaps I read too much and my expectations are too high. I cannot begin to imagine how difficult it must be to write and keep the reader engaged, and this being the author's second book, I can understand some of the things in this book that I perceived negatively. There was however a small difference in writing style between her first book and this book, but still not engaging enough ... and some of the scenes in the book were actually cringe worthy. The author also seems to love the word screamed, even when it is not really the correct word for the setting ... Overall the plot itself was actually quite good, however the execution thereof caused it to fall a bit flat in my opinion. I'd like to see how the story plays out, so am definitely interested in reading more from this author as I would like to see how she grows as an author, as I do believe that experience will definitely make her more engaging and her writing will be less juvenile and 'meh'. Perhaps she just needs a better editor or proof reader.

The working partnership between Tara and Warren solidifies. They have a great deal of respect and trust in each other. We also learn more of Warren's past history. Meanwhile, Tara is learning more about the death of her mother which occured when she was just 6 years old. She visits her father who is in prison for killing her mother, for the first time. She gets more questions than answers but she is determined to get to to the truth. I guess I'll have to wait for the answers too, because the next in the series doesn't come out until next year!

One Last Breath is Book 2 in A Tara Mills Mystery. Sarah Sutton has written an intense thriller and it was exciting. The story opens with the killer about to bury his second victim. One Last Breath was a great read. I really want to give it 4.5 stars. The action, investigation, solution, and the overlying story about Agent Tara Mill’s childhood are well-written. My hesitation to rate it higher is just frustration that female main characters tend to do foolish things. Tara may have good motives, but sometimes she is incredibly foolhardy. I do love her courage and strength. Moreover, I read the book in one day, because I wanted to know how it all worked out. I received an adva One Last Breath was a great read. The second in this series still every bit as spellbinding as the first. The character of Tara Mills has further developed and she seems to be dealing with her demons better, but still has a way to do. The plot flowed well and was easy and fast to read, hard to put down. I did order the third in this series but was a bit disappointed that it won't be out until March 2022. That is something to look forward to for sure. This is the second book I'm reading from this series and I have enjoyed every minute of it. The characters are becoming more fleshed out and the mystery well written. Tara and her partner, FBI agents with the BCU investigate the abduction and murder of teenage girls at the Delaware shore. At the same time Sara delves into the murder of her mother. I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review. This is the second book I'm reading from this series and I have enjoyed every minute of it. A Thriller This is a thriller in the truest sense of the sword. It’s a nice tight story about two agents chasing a serial killer. I did find the killers motive trifle light —killing girls to create stories he can write about? Despite that the author created several nice red herrings.

Really entertaining story, but I wish it was written better. Alyssa suddenly becomes Ashley, like a “find and replace” command missed a couple of chapters. It could really benefit from a round or two of rewrites and editing. The story and characters are what kept me reading through technical frustrations.
