Sophie and Jake together again hired to bring home a runaway daughter who has joined up with a dangerous meth gang. Unfortunately they become trapped underground in a lava tube while volcanos erupt. Will they survive the poisonous gasses? Who will come to their rescue? What will happen to Sophie's daughter and nanny? I think you need to read this for yourself. I am a member of Ms. Neal's ARC team and read this while under the quarantine for Covid19 and my anxiety was running high anyway. WIRED GHOST (Paradise Crime Thriller Book 11) is pure Adrenaline Overload! They’ve been tasked with the extraction of an underage teenager from her much older meth-making boyfriend who has managed to hide them in a desolate area that has even more death traps than Neal has ever presented before! Readers be ready for the most intense crime solving adventure yet! Neal is masterful at writing plots that keep you on the edge of your seat, staying up all night, reading every word. Her ability to continue to move her characters so easily through her many different books is a true gift! Her vivid descriptions of these characters have readers feeling as though they would recognize them anywhere. Her reuse of the islands of Hawaii and Phi Ni off the coast of Thailand as the settings for Wired Ghost allow the reader to be caught up in the contrast of all the glorious beauty amidst all the savagery. Neal’s heroes endure more than most can fathom. The strength of their reserve was tested early on and has made them what they are today. This reader has this one question: What can Neal possibly have planned for them next?? I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by the author. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.

The job Sophie and Jake are on has them chasing after a runaway girl and her father wants her back at all cost, even other's lives... This never go according to plan for Sophie, and I mean never, ever...lol so why should this time be any different, but when she and Jake get tossed into a lava tube things heat up quickly... What happens next had me on the very edge of my seat... Sophie is a truly likable and amazing character, I loved catching up with Marcella and Dr. Wilson in this story as well, they are both awesome friends of Sophie's. I am waiting with bated breath for the next thrilling installment.

Open your mind and let a fuller experience come in through your senses. Nothing extra is ever needed for bliss but a moment of perfect awareness.” I need a consult with Doc Wilson. Toby Neal does that to me sometimes!

I love Jake, the hero of our story. He and Sophie finally get back together and find themselves in the adventure of their lives as they try to rescue a young woman who has been kidnapped . Their rescue mission puts them in serious danger as a volcano erupts and wreaks havoc on everything in its path. Stunning in its description of the flowing lava of the erupting volcano, Toby Neal is at her best. I cried, my heart raced. I could not put this book down. Highly recommended.

I read a lot of books. Since retirement, I read about a book a day. In my lifetime, I have read thousands of books. I take my Kindle with me where ever I go and read every chance I get. If it is a really good book, I will stay up reading until I finish the book or just can’t keep my eyes open. There are a lot of good writers out there in the world with good ideas for plot lines that aren’t too cliched or done to death. However, my favorites don’t just string words together in a coherent manner, I read a lot of books. Since retirement, I read about a book a day. In my lifetime, I have read thousands of books. There are a lot of good writers out there in the world with good ideas for plot lines that aren’t too cliched or done to death. However, my favorites don’t just string words together in a coherent manner, they are storytellers. A storyteller makes you care about their characters. They invite you into a hero/heroine that is human, complex, and someone you’d like to meet and befriend. A storyteller builds the story with each page, pulling you along to read just one more paragraph, one more page, one more chapter until you are at the end and you want to read more. As the story’s tension builds, the reader’s breath intensifies, the heart begins to race, and you are fully drawn into the pace of the story. Toby Neal is a storyteller of the best kind. She develops her characters as though they are real people, people you want to know. Even her ‘bad guys’ have developed personalities and back stories to explain their actions. Her plots are feasible. The arc of the story is plausible. Her characters relate to each other in authentic ways. Set in the Hawaiian Islands, she includes their history, their customs, their problems and their pleasures. Wired Ghost, Neal’s latest in telling Sophie’s story takes place 2 years after her last book. Much has changed while the past still has a stronghold on Sophie’s heart and mind. Wired Ghost introduces a new hunk of a man in her life as Sophie deals with her feelings for Alika, Connor and Jake. Stolen diamonds, a trip to San Francisco, and her daughter, Momi, all take her attention as she takes a break from being a CEO to working in the field again. Wired Ghost can be read as a stand-alone story, but I highly recommend that you start from the beginning of Sophie’s journey. Reading the earlier books in order will give a greater depth of understanding and enjoyment to this installment. If I could give Wired Truth and Toby Neal 6 stars I would, but 5 will have to do.

Wired Ghost continues the story of Sophie Smithson, a tech expert who is addicted to the rush of field work and is working for a private security firm. The series is excellent, each book building on the other and telling Sophie's personal story of abuse, adaptation, and healing along with the drama and action of solving crimes and catching bad guys. This book builds on the story of not just Sophie, but her relationships with her partner, Jake, the Ghost, and her mother. This is where Neal's expertise in building characters who feel real and who stay true to themselves is brilliantly displayed. We come to care about these characters, or we grow curious about why they act as they do, or we even come to despise them. This is the hallmark of an excellent writer, and one of the reasons I love Toby Neal's writing so much. Without revealing any spoilers, this is a book in the series you do not want to miss. Wow. This book, like all the other Wired books, is absolutely amazing. It is an emotional roller coaster of a book. Sophie's latest case takes her to a kipuka, a small "island" in lava, on the verge of an eruption. The danger is very real, from both the "bad guys" and from nature itself. However, if this is your first Wired book (and if so, whyyy??) you shouldn't feel lost or confused. There is enough information to know who each person is easily. But if you've read this series from the beginning, and the series that originated Sophie's character, you will love these appearances. I love how with each book Sophie grows personally in some way, but we get new layers to several characters in this book. I cannot wait to see what comes next in this series.

If you are already a fan of the Sophie novels, this one fits right in with the rest of them. At the same time, there are a few things that are different from some of the other books. The plot line, the people involved in the story, and the suspense, are a serious trifecta that will not disappoint. I can assure you that you will flip through the novel quickly and then be left wanting to keep reading more, which is the norm for me, when it comes to this author. This is a good thing. How can they survive? Toby Neal knows these islands like the back of her hands, her descriptive passages evoke the atmosphere and simultaneous horror of the spreading molten lava. Her characters are human, believable and in some cases downright evil! But through it all the tension grips you, until you reach the last page desperate for more. I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for a review.

Oh my goodness! Sophie and Jake are stuck in a lava tube during an active volcano and what seemed like a short mission has turned into a precarious/ dangerous adventure, but they LOVE adventures and hence I love these books! You can, in theory, read this as a standalone book, but IT'S SO MUCH MORE FUN if you know the whole story, so I heartily recommend the whole series.

Who knew when I stumbled on my first book by Toby Neal, I would quickly become addicted. Her books are full of adventure, and you feel like you are right in the middle of their story. Do NOT begin this one at bedtime, because you cannot put Wired Ghost down. I promise you an exciting time where you will laugh, love, cry, and anxiously await the next chapter and the next book. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Sophie is back. And Toby has written another suspense filled thriller that cannot be put down. Wired Ghost grabs you from the beginning and doesn’t turn you loose until your completely wrung out! I was on Island the day that the Caldera emptied and the flow started the next day. Unfortunately we left Island and didn’t get to see it flow. But reading this book let me imagine how it might have felt. This book was an emotional roller coaster ride. Cannot wait for the next! Sophie and Jake are working together to bring back a kidnapped daughter, however they get into a bit of a situation underground involving Lava tubes and a volcano. As someone from the UK I had no idea what a lava tube was ( I immediately thought of a lava lamp!) anyway after a bit of googling I am now well aware of what it is and how scary it must be. we dip in and out of the world with Sophie and Jake and also pop in with Connor and his new world. its a story with lots of twists and turns and yo Sophie and Jake are working together to bring back a kidnapped daughter, however they get into a bit of a situation underground involving Lava tubes and a volcano. I don't know the actual page count of this book, because GR has once again marked a book as having 0 pages. But it felt short to me, or maybe the ending was just abrupt. I'm not sure, but I do have LOTS of feelings about the events of this book. I won't get into the nitty gritty here, but I will say I for sure never saw them coming, and you'd think with 11 books in this series I would have caught some clues. Nope. Still I enjoyed this book just as much as I have every other entry in the series a I don't know the actual page count of this book, because GR has once again marked a book as having 0 pages. Wow...Toby Neal has packed so much action and adrenaline in just the first part of this book alone. Emotions run high and I was gripped from the very beginning. I even found myself holding my breath! I don’t know how she does it, but she does it so well. This book, this whole series, is so utterly amazing that I highly recommend it as a must-have-read! I can’t wait for the next book to see where Sophie’s journey takes her.
