Sheriff David Wolf faces a disturbing case his own father could not solve years ago. Someone will want it kept that way. A fisherman reels in a plastic bag containing a severed human head from the depths of Cold Lake, Colorado. When Sheriff David Wolf and his deputies scramble to the scene, they quickly find more surprises lurk below. Their grim discoveries reopen a cold case Wolf's father worked twenty-two years ago, and Wolf must try to succeed where his father failed before him. Wolf has the advantage on his dad, however, because he has bodies. Lots of them. Amid sweeping political changes that have his department and the entire county on edge, Wolf and his deputies come to the disturbing realization there is a dangerous serial killer in their midst--one who will stop at nothing to remain hidden. Can Wolf and his deputies unveil the truth before someone pays the ultimate price? SMOKED OUT Wolf joins forces again with FBI special agent Kristen Luke as they face a gang of deadly criminals out to destroy all they hold dear. With over a dozen mending bones and other injuries wreaking havoc on his body, along with a shredded spirit twisting his sanity, former sheriff David Wolf is in no shape for any sort of action. But when FBI surveillance units move into the valley and surround his house, it seems he's about to have no choice.   Wolf quickly learns, however, things are not what they seem, and a trap has been set with him as the prey. If he wants to live long enough to bring justice for the only woman he’s ever loved and to see his son grow into a man, broken body or not, he must move, and move fast.   Picking up where Cold Lake left off, this exciting sixth installment of the David Wolf Mystery Thriller Series has Special Agent Kristen Luke of the FBI risking career and limb to help Wolf in a quest for the truth—a quest that will send them on an action packed adventure across the mountains of Colorado and back to Rocky Points for a deadly showdown that will reveal the answer to the one question Wolf desperately must know. TO THE BONE In a place where ancient, killing monsters are buried beneath, it seems more are still prowling topside.  Chief Detective David Wolf’s son has a new girlfriend, and when she discovers her father—a well known man in ancient fossils trade circles—has been murdered, she and the rest of her shattered family turn to Wolf to bring them justice.   With the help of a small town sheriff and a retired police dog named Jet, Wolf follows the clues to a dig site in western Colorado, where secrets have been entombed for eons, and people are dying to keep them that way.

These books are really good. Good mysteries and characters.

Gripping Series Very likeable and well-developed characters, plenty of action, great plots, and intelligently written. Jeff Carson does an excellent job of describing the breathtaking beauty and diversity of Colorado and the Rocky Mountains. His plots are believable and mysterious enough to keep you guessing which of the several villains in each story is the ultimate, most guilty bad guy. I hope there are more volumes in this series, because each one so far has been a winner!

Duty and Commitment Thank you for these three exciting stories of murder and mayhem. The storylines were fantastic, somewhat gory, but interesting. The different characters and the murderers were really challenging and sometimes had me fooled. All in all, I enjoyed reading your stories.

I hated to read the last book because I knew I was on the last book! I absolutely loved this series. It kept me on my toes - always the unexpected in these books and so realastic! I used to live in Colorado and many of the places talked about in the book I was familiar with. I hope Jeff Carson is not done. It was such a letdown to start reading other books again.

Great characters and storylines I’ve read several books in this series and really enjoyed them. The characters are interesting and the storylines varied. I would probably give this set 4 1/2 stars, just because the last book wasn’t as good as the other two; but all in all still readable.

Wolf Mysteries David Wolf is a Sheriff in a small Colorado community. A small community that seems to have a lot of serious crime. The books are well written with fully developed characters. The stories are believable and hard to put down. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Another great read in the Rockies! A solid 5 stars for this one, the 7th in the series. Every book as good as the last one. Id love to see a movie, with sequels, but only if they stay true to the characters and scenery. Getting ready to settle into the 8th book, Dire. What a great series!

Very enjoyable Rated 4 because it's not quite a 5, hard to follow in places, some confusing with so many characters. I enjoyed the first 7 books because I like the genre, stories kept my attention, liked the Wolf character. Now a detective Good series that drags a little at times...probably because of details. But as a whole, the characters are well written and figuring out "who dunnit" is an interesting challenge. Plot line carries thru several books Though each book can be standalone, you almost have to read them in order. The main plot lines are carried from book 1 onward to at least book 8.

Nice I would have rewarded this book higher on the star rating but just cannot! Mr Carson decided to ruin my reading experience by using the Lords name in vain.

Meh I keep reading the series and hoping that I can learn to like the writing style but I can't. Is this a young adult series or something? Very surface level characters and plots. Good Series Glad I discovered this series, and I share my new finds with friends, but...I had to tell them to avoid #5. Was way too over the top about finding heads, etc. Really no reason for all of that gore. It really does not fit with the style of writing. Told them I would give them Cliff Notes, so they could skip that book and continue on. Moving on to #8 Dire, today.

Amped up, ramped up, twists and turns, are just a SMALL part of what the reader will be gifted with when reading back to back mystery thrillers that EXCEL in every possible way, as main character David Wolf leads the way. After each book I was left profoundly breathless, with no words to express how great each book was. I’ll blame that on gifted Author Jeff Carson, because apparently he used all the words up, as he delivered some MIGHTY writing, as he gave the reader the main character, David Wolf, as the vehicle to deliver intricate plots, mystery, thrills, and SO MUCH MORE. This reader was in the clutches of Author Jeff Carson from the first word to the end word in each of these powerful books!! Whew...just cannot describe what a fabulous pleasure it is to read Author Jeff Carson’s works. EXEMPLARY...may come close. Artful writing too. Author Jeff Carson’s mastery over words, and his creative and fertile mind when writing these masterpieces of mystery thrillers, is just astounding!! HIGHLY recommend this David Wolf Mystery Thriller Box Set for FINE reading!! ENJOY!!

All of my reviews are under the individual books in this collection from the David Wolf mystery series. I had read #4 and #6 in the past so reading #4 and #5 really filled in some major gaps in Wolf's life of fighting crime in and around the fictional town of Rocky Points, Colorado. I highly recommend this series. All of my reviews are under the individual books in this collection from the David Wolf mystery series.
