2.5 stars. Eh, this was just okay. I thought the romance was cute, but the writing wasn't great and was too cheesy in some parts. I'm not a fan of exclamation points and some lines were cringe. If you want a good Christmas romance, I would say skip this one. Also, I'm not a fan when the end of the book results in a BIG step in a relationship when they had never actually been in a real relationships yet... 2.5 stars. Eh, this was just okay. Aria Alzate is a wedding planner who is hired to give her best friend the perfect Winter Wonderland wedding. When Aria gets a concussion in a fall, she is not allowed to drive. Her boss, Vivi sets her up with returned veteran Remington to get her to Twilight. The free-spirited Aria is not happy with the arrangement but can see no other alternative. Remington “Remy” Lockhart left the elite Army paratroopers after an accident. Twelve years of service and PTSD have Remy always following the rules and having a backup plan for every situation. Remy is not happy about being drawn into this road trip. Aria is everything he is not and this can only lead to disaster . When the couple is stranded overnight by an ice storm, they cannot fight the chemistry and they come together. Both decide it should be just a one-night stand, but the magic of Twilight, Christmas and the Alzate legend will work to bring these opposites together for more. I absolutely loved Aria and Remy. This opposites attract Christmas romance may start out as light and just plain fun, but Ms. Wilde delves deeper and you really become invested in why the H/h are the way they are and how much they truly need each other. This book is a crossover between the Cupid and Twilight series by this author and even with the crossover and many secondary characters, I never felt lost and it easily can be read as a standalone. The sex scenes are explicit, but not gratuitous. I highly recommend this romance for all the holiday enchantment and the HEA between Aria and Remy!

Very sweet and romantic. Opposites attract. Fly by the seat of her pants, Aria, and healing rigid former military man, Remington. Their strengths balances each other’s weaknesses. They have to let down their own guards to enjoy their explosive chemistry. I’ve read both the Cupid and Twilight series and both give a great small town, connected feel. Lots of fun holiday myths spurring people to fall in love. Mushy, sappy, sweet and fun!

3.5 stars. Lori Wilde's The Christmas Backup Plan is a cute, steamy, and surprisingly emotional romance where opposites attract. And when she finds out that Remington Lockhart will be (begrudgingly) driving her to Twilight, she’s even less thrilled. Aria and Remy have known each other since childhood—her three sisters are even married to his three brothers, and everyone is fairly convinced that Remy and Aria are destined to be together. But Remy, recently discharged from the Army after a career-ending injury, is as uptight as they come, and he can’t handle Aria’s casual, fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants style. How can a wedding planner not believe in backup plans? Despite their obvious chemistry (which they deny vehemently), the ride to Twilight is difficult because of their constant need to get under each other’s skin. And when they’re waylaid by an ice storm, they have to decide whether to give in to their attraction or fight it every step of the way—and what doing either will mean in the long run. Will they get to Twilight on time for the wedding? Will everything go off without a hitch? Are Aria and Remy truly meant for each other as their siblings have been? Unless you’ve never read a rom-com, you can figure out all those answers. But along the way, Lori Wilde throws in some serious steam and some moving conversations about PTSD and grief that don’t often happen in a rom-com. The Christmas Backup Plan was a sweet, fun read that might have caused a tear or two (whatever). I look forward to exploring more of Wilde’s Twilight, Texas series! The Christmas Backup Plan by Lori Wilde is a story that is part of two long-running series and I’m absolutely tickled that she combined them. She brings characters from Cupid, Texas together to travel to Twilight, Texas for a wedding. Aria Alzate is the wedding planner for her best friend and is getting married close to Christmas. She suffered a concussion and needs help getting there and Remington Lockhart is recruited to drive her there. That could be a problem since they don’t like each other The Christmas Backup Plan by Lori Wilde is a story that is part of two long-running series and I’m absolutely tickled that she combined them. She brings characters from Cupid, Texas together to travel to Twilight, Texas for a wedding. Aria Alzate is the wedding planner for her best friend and is getting married close to Christmas. She suffered a concussion and needs help getting there and Remington Lockhart is recruited to drive her there. That could be a problem since they don’t like each other. Remington and Aria have known each other all their lives since her family works for his family on the Silver Feather Ranch. Unfortunately, they’ve always butted heads and don’t think highly of each other. He’s too stodgy and rigid according to Aria and he sees her as too flighty and whimsical. The trip offers them a chance to get to know and understand each other a little better and learn to accept their differences. It also gave them a chance to have a little road trip fling since they could feel a strong attraction between them. You know the saying, what happens on the road, stays on the road? They wish they could but they didn’t count on falling in love on the road. These two characters are as opposite as two can be and couldn’t see how the other functioned in life. Remington had been in the military for the past 12 years and was a rule follower and always had contingencies to go by. Getting medically discharged has him floundering for direction and he gets some clarity after an impromptu art class for veterans in Twilight. Aria was glad that Remington was there to help her with the wedding preparations since things fell apart at the last minute and she had his guidance to make the wedding a success. I guess it is a lesson learned to have backup plans just in case. Falling in love wasn’t something they thought would never happen to them and had Aria running scared. Once they both realize they are meant for one another they put plans into action. I love happy endings and grand gestures and this had it in spades. Better yet there is an epilogue! The author brought two unlikely characters together, with the legend of one series with the charm of the other one, and created a heartwarming, sweet and funny romance that will delight all readers this holiday season. I have to say I think that Remy has to be hands down one of my most favorite characters. I just love a man who makes a plan. I'm a huge list person myself so I always try to make sure that I have a backup plan just in case. As mentioned Remy is a great character. He might be having a hard time being back home and not in the military but he's doing the best he can. He might seem ridge and even cold but that's just what he needs to show the world right now. It's how he's coping. I also liked Aria. She's sweet and caring by also at times a little flighty. It isn't that she doesn't do her job, it's just that she feels like she can just wing it at times. Which we all know is never the plan when you are a wedding planner. Has she not watched Bridezilla's? Those ladies are crazy! I think these two are a great match. She needs someone grounded and he needs someone who will teach him how to play. Sometimes both are hard to do. I really enjoyed how they came together and how they both acted like it was just an easy relationship with no ties between them. But we all know that was bullshit. They were made for each other and it was proved to Aria but she was just being stubborn. I really felt for Remy. He put his heart out there and she blew him off running scared. Even in the end, he's the one that puts his cards on the table again. There are many very happy, fun moments in the story with a few sad ones too. The perfect balance for a holiday romance. For those who read Wilde's Twilight Texas series you'll enjoy your return for those who have read her I think you are in for a treat. WOW. JUST WOW. This is the first Lori Wilde book I have read and it kept me swooning over the plot. What would you do if you got stuck with your worst enemy for a business trip? What if you were polar opposites? But what if you fell in love? Remington who is a career soldier, just came home after medical discharge. Remington dealing with PTSD and finding his place among civilian life again gets stuck with the most annoying woman of his life. He is basically babysitting. The army taught him to be WOW. JUST WOW. How does a wedding planner not plan? “She flys off the wings of her pants.” 26 years old and she plans for others happy reunions but she’s never been committed. Stuck with Mr. fun sucker Remington while she works on her best friends wedding is her worst nightmare. Also there is the family superstition. When you kiss the one you love you will hear a buzz. Will Remington and Aria agree to disagree? Will the heat the buzz? A pager turner. Clear your schedule for this book. Your not going to want to put it down. A wonderful holiday read for sure!

I love a good Christmas romance and even though Lori Wilde is always hit or miss for me, I decided to give this one a try. I've read the first "Cupid, Texas" books before, but apparently this is part of a different series set in Twilight, even though both characters live in Cupid. So that was a bit confusing. But you don't have to read any of the other "Twilight, Texas" series to read this one and follow along easily. The book seemed to drag a bit too much for my liking. But you don't have to read any of the other "Twilight, Texas" series to read this one and follow along easily. The book seemed to drag a bit too much for my liking. I did find myself rushing back to finish the book when I had about 5 chapters left, so it does pick back up in the end after a sluggish middle. Aria is a carefree wedding planner who is an extrovert and everyone's best friend. Remy is the exact opposite. He was recently discharged from the Army after an accident while parachuting. So he's broody, a play-by-the-rules and always prepare kind of guy and he just so happens to dislike Aria. So this book starts out as an enemies-to-lovers book but once they get to know the person behind those personas, they really appreciate one another and become close. The romance part was just okay. There seemed to be more physical attraction than a budding romance. I mean the author waxes poetic during the lovemaking scenes, so it seems like maybe there's love there (I honestly skimmed those since I became bored with the 10 page description written in a flowery way that didn't match the rest of the book). But they were both too closed-off and hesitant for me to really believe that they were in love. There's the whole weird 'humming' thing that is supposed to signal that they've met 'the one' but it wasn't backed up with action. So it was no surprise when they part ways after their Twilight trip and both continue on brooding. Not sure why the word Christmas was included in the title other than the fact that Twilight really celebrates Christmas. So there were some carols and angel tree stuff mentioned. But Christmas itself is entirely skipped in the book since the MC's are not together. That was really disappointing since it missed that Christmas magic. Although I didn't find the re-coupling very realistic given they were separate so often and weren't' communicating very well, it was incredibly sweet on Remy's part. I mean he really surprised me with that whole scene and I certainly swooned over his grand gesture. Granted, I think it should have been Aria making that gesture since she was the one running scared. The epilogue was cute and they get their HEA, complete with a cute pup.

For one, he was always gone on deployment and the little time they find themselves in the same room, they can't stop rubbing each other the wrong way for no other reason that they're so different. He's the strong, silent and grumpy type and she find him too serious. She's too positive, impulsive and wild for him. And since his 3 brothers married her 3 sisters, everyone expect them to get together but neither wants it. But does fate care about what they wants? So thanks to a concussion while decorating the barn, Aria needs someone to drive her to Twilight for a wedding during the Holidays and her coworker, who's also his stepmother, just volunteered him as a chauffeur. Let's the roadtrip and the fun begin! Remy and Aria bickering chemistry was so fun to "watch"! Reading about his difficulties to adjust to civilian life again and learn to live with two amputated fingers touched my heart. And the best part was witnessing how the vivacious heroine break down the walls the broody hero's built around his heart. There's a little whimsical touch in this book that I found charming. The Christmas Backup Plan doesn't just have a stunning cover, it also have a beautiful and precious content.

A fun read set at Christmas time. If you like the trope enemies to lovers this story will satisfy that niche. Aria and Remington bring out the worst in each other but along the way they fall in love. Each one brings baggage but together they overcome it and begin bringing out(recognizing) the good qualities harboring deep in their hearts. If you like a gentle steam to your romance books you’ll get that as well.

This was a cute little story for the holiday season. I loved the flow and the characters. It was a little cheesy in parts but I think that worked out to have a light story.

The Christmas Backup Plan!! This book was so much fun!! Aria is a breath of fresh air. So sweet and just flies by the seat of her pants. That drives Remington crazy but also he secretly loves her for it. Perfect couple and just the best book!!

Lori Wilde's new Christmas novel is a great addition to the Twilight, Texas novels. A heartwarming story about two people who are polar opposites. Their journey together is funny, poignant and romantic. This novel is a must read as it will put you in the Christmas giving spirit. This was a sweet friends to lovers story. The title fooled me because this wasn't a Christmas romance, but I loved it all the same. This story really warmed my heart and gives a a whole new meaning to a back up plan😊😊😊 This was a sweet friends to lovers story. Thank you to Avon books for this review copy! I was expecting to not like this because I didn't think I liked these Hallmark-esque stories but I loved this. I thought the story was really interesting. I especially loved hearing more about Remington's experience with PTSD and readjusting after war. I will be looking for more Lori Wilde in the future.
