Informative and inspiring. As engaging as a memoir, but chock full of proven business advice. I typically dread reading any type of business book. Not because I hate business. I love it. But because most business books are so dry and dull that they put me to sleep. Thank goodness that wasn't the case with "High Risk High Reward". High Risk High Reward is anything but dry or dull. The author, Steve Scher, shares his experiences as an entrepreneur and owner of an employment agency named Acrobat Outs Informative and inspiring. The author, Steve Scher, shares his experiences as an entrepreneur and owner of an employment agency named Acrobat Outsourcing. He bought Acrobat when it was a struggling small business with two unreliable employees. When he sold it years later, he walked away with eight figures, stock options, and more. His story reads like a memoir. He shares with you how he built the business, the setbacks he faced, what he learned, etc. After most chapters in the book, Scher offers practical business advice based that you can apply to your own business. For example, after the first chapter, the advice is tailored to help you decide if you're ready to take the risk and go into business for yourself. After the second chapter, he advises on how to hire people from special groups, such as formerly incarcerated, special needs, etc. The advice always relates to his experiences, which could be the experience of any business owner regardless of industry. Naturally, "High Risk High Reward" isn't the be-all end-all for entrepreneurs or anyone wanting to start their own business. That type of book doesn't exist. But this book is one you'll want to read. It's honest and has a lot of valuable information. Reading this book was like sitting down with Steve Scher for lunch and getting insight and advice from a well-seasoned, successful mentor. Thank you to Goodreads, the publisher, and the author for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
