This book took me on a continued experience of just that kind of adventure with Philippe and Kat, innkeepers of a beautiful and welcoming villa in the Côte d’Azur. The third book in the series. The title of this series, "Villa des Violettes", along with the beautiful covers of these books, is a welcoming invite to step into the south of France and delight in all it has to offer. There is something about meeting dear friends and catching up with them. The characters in this series are like family and I was joining up with them to spend time together again. It's like picking up with each other and having not been away. They are connected with each other through friendships, family and love for one another. Characters that are caring and ones I love being with. They took me into their lives and, through them, I had a holiday in the pages of this book. As I was reading, Ms. Sands words created the most amazing visuals in my mind of what a tour of this area of France would be like. From the scrumptious foods that I practically tasted by her mouth watering descriptions, to the beautiful scenic panoramas I could see in my mind of the sparkling sea, the endless lavender fields and the cobble stoned alleyways, I was along with the characters as Philippe shared his childhood home and places he spent time in with Kat. Then there's the storyline with the characters woven through this scenic country. I love the love story with Kat and Philippe. Finding true love later in their lives. "That's how it was with Philippe. He gave her the unswerving love, adorned with sincere romantic gestures, that she had missed in her earlier life." The characters are family with those around them. They are all there for each other through the good times and the hard times. There is so much emotion in the pages that touched and pulled at my heart. Romance in the south of France is heartwarming and magical. Being loved and with family and friends is everything. I loved going into the pages of this book with Kat and Philippe. I loved the virtual tour Patricia Sands took me on through her extensive visits she herself has taken. Her love for this region of France comes through in the beautiful stories she creates in that setting. I want to thank Ms. Sands for the honor or reading another one of her wonderful books in Lavender, Loss and Love. I enjoyed it very much. All opinions and thoughts in this review are my heartfelt own.

Where memories linger like the lavender wand tucked into a dresser that perfumes the air and let's you accept that despite loss, love triumphs, change can be marvelous despite growing old, being alone, natural disasters and heartache. These books tug at your heart as Sands' love of France shines along with grace and caring for every single person, place and thing that touches the stories' foci: Kat, Philippe and their extended family. I have always loved the area of France the author writes about and here's to many many more visits. “Families come in all shapes and sizes.” This phrase, spoken by one the women in Patricia Sands’ new novella, is a good summary of what this lovely book is about. And what families they are!—united by love, friendship, and sometimes even biology. Sands shows us how families bind us together, forming the center of a life well lived. Kat and Philippe are back, along with other beloved characters like Simone and Delphine, in this new story set in the South of France. The first summer season at the Villa des Violettes about to begin, but first there’s a trip to be taken, to visit Tante Joy and Oncle François in the Luberon part of Provence. We follow Kat and Philippe’s adventures as they explore this new region, with the fabulous lavender fields around Valensole as a special highlight. As with all of her novels, Sands does a wonderful job of capturing the sights, smells, and flavors of this unique part of the world. We see the stunning ochre mines of Roussillon, the austere beauty of the Abbey de Senanque, and the magical sound & light show inside the Carrières de Lumières. We learn about Provencal traditions like la vendange—the grape harvest—where each new vintage begins with a joyous celebration. And of course, there are meals, lots of meals, with tables bursting with the bounty of Provence. No Sands novel would be complete without a bit of mystery. Why is Philippe’s daughter Adorée so out of sorts—is she keeping a terrible secret? Why does Richard Stevenson keep disappearing? And what exactly is in Lynn’s backpack? Sands shows us, over and over, the love at the heart families of all kinds, and how it can carry us through even the most trying circumstances. Yes, there are sad moments in this book, but they are fleeting and are far surpassed by those of joy, laughter, and love.

I feel like I've just returned from a trip to France. Patricia Sands writes so descriptively about the beauty of France that the reader can almost smell lavender in the air. The food is also written about in such a way that you can almost see it and taste it . Of course it would be better to actually be in France but if you can't get there, this will help. Kat and Philippe are in love with each other and in love with their friends and family and as important, they love where they live in the south of France. They have a real joie de vivre despite some of the issues that happen to friends and family. My advice is to get comfortable and take a trip to the south of France with Patricia Sands as your guide. You'll be glad that you did!

Another well-written book by Patricia Sands. It is so enjoyable to meet up again with Kat and Philippe and their friends I’ve come to think of as my friends also. I am glad I was able to start with this prequel to launch me into the series. While the setting isn't the Golden Age, that is what I was reminded of often. The addition of the setting and description of the local food, and you have a travel guide. Bonus with the mystery! Can't wait to read more in this series ! I love this storyline so much that I must go to the south of France one day and see all the places that Kat and Philippe have traveled to during their adventures. This is #3 of the Villa des Violettes series of novellas that actually follows up another trilogy, the Love in Provence series. If it's true that this is the last one, I'm sad. I almost feel as if I'm a character in Kat's story. She feels like a friend of mine. Kat is a more mature protagonist who has found the love she deserves, but s I love this storyline so much that I must go to the south of France one day and see all the places that Kat and Philippe have traveled to during their adventures. Kat is a more mature protagonist who has found the love she deserves, but still has many adventures left ahead of her. I identify with her, so I will miss her as much as if she were truly my friend. So if this is indeed the last I hear of her, I will feel the loss. I highly recommend you do what I did and read the Love in Provence series first, then follow up with the three novellas that make up the Villa des Violettes series. The characters are the same throughout, but later books will reveal spoilers if read out of order. And there are new characters in each book that will draw you in. In this one, I was drawn by the character of the author who stayed at the Villa and who seems so eccentric. I would love to know more about him. (Can I entice Patricia Sands to one more sequel? Just one more, please??) In any event, do yourself a favor. Start at the beginning with the original trilogy and enjoy the experience as you travel through time and the south of France with Kat and Philippe and their menagerie of pets and friends. You won't be sorry, and you'll definitely find yourself smiling and wanting more.

Another charming read from Patricia Sands. The third novella in her Villa des Violettes series touches on what makes a family, following Kat and Philippe to the fragrant lavender fields of Provence. I could almost smell the flowers!

I felt the power of friendship and love pour out onto the pages of “Lavender, Love, & Loss at Villa des Violettes”. Once again, Patricia Sands captured the essence of France beautifully. We are back in Antibes at the villa Kat and Philippe are now running as a B&B. It is summer, and as a heatwave sweeps France life for Kat slips into an easy routine of ensuring chores like gardening are tackled in the mornings when it’s cooler, and the evenings are free to relax with friends over apéros or dinner. Kat is the type of person who wears her heart on her sleeve and takes on everyone else’s problems as though they were her own. As she welcomes her summer guests to the villa their shared stories add an extra layer of emotion to the novel. The bond between Kat and Philippe is as strong as ever and although time is catching up with the older generation of Philippe’s family, exciting changes are afoot for his daughter Adorée, who is making a new life for herself in the Luberon. Patricia has a gift for bringing the area she obviously loves to life, and in places this book is like a mini tour of the Cote d’Azur and the Luberon, as she takes us along with Kat and Philippe. From enjoying soirées on a yacht, where the coastline captivates Kat, to days out cycling through the fields of flowering lavender and visiting the well-known sights like Roussillon, Gordes and Les Carrières de Lumières at Les Baux de Provence, I could picture it all as I read. Patricia also weaves in some local history, notably around the Resistance movement in the Luberon area during the Second World War, for added interest. Having been lucky enough to have followed in Kat’s footsteps earlier this year, wandering the harbour and lunching in Antibes, and experiencing the lavender fields in bloom for the first time, just like Kat, I felt a real connection as I read this book. It was great to catch up with characters who now feel like friends and I hope there will be more from the Villa des Violettes soon.

The lavender-infused story reminds this reader that family is who you invite to your table. All of these books are fine stand-alones. But, if you’re new to this author, I would recommend starting with The Promise of Provence, followed by the Provence Series. Next, take a side trip to journey with Arianna in Drawing Lessons, and then return to the lives of Kat and Phillipe in the Villa de Violettes novellas. After reading her books, I’m more anxious than ever to escape to Provence. While there, I expect to be strolling down Rue de Patricia Sands, following the footsteps of Ariana, Kat, Phillip, and their friends, embarking upon my own adventure!

Love's highs and lows! The third novella in Patricia Sands' Villa des Viollettes series, takes you on a journey to see the iconic lavender fields. The imagery is strong enough to fill your head with the heady fragrances of Provence in the summer heat. In this book, she digs into the essence of extended family and the importance of friends. And the challenges of letting go. Love's highs and lows! The third novella in Patricia Sands' Villa des Viollettes series, takes you on a journey to see the iconic lavender fields. Nice story I had trouble getting into this book and figuring out what was going on and I think it was because I started reading a book in the middle of a series. I liked the characters in the book but didn’t feel any emotional attachment to them. I decided to go to book one in the series and see if that makes a difference.

My provence heaven I have just finished reading the villa violette trilogy I really hope there will more to come about Kat and philippes story. I haveenjoyed the 6 books of their story so much I became totally immersed and almost felt I was one of the wonderful characters myself. Thank you for such a heartwarming journey.

Patricia Sands books are great 'beach reads' and are fun, sweet, romantic stories when you just need to read something lovely. There is too much tough stuff on the news and too many rough things in movies, so I always love a good escape where people are kind and situations turn out for the good. Thanks, Patricia, for writing such lovely books - and of course, the setting is perfect!!
