In hindsight, hooking up with Max’s daughter was a terrible fucking idea. Sure, Kira was smoking hot and dynamite in bed, but it didn’t take long for Drake to realize that she was a terrible person. She was spoiled, manipulative, and a raging narcissist.....No point in dwelling on Kira. She was never going to change, and he just wanted to move on with his life. First, he had to get through this interview. Later, there might be drinks and a casual hook-up at the club, though he would most likely just spend the night in his office again. (TELL ME SOMETHINH NEW HERE, PLEASE...😒😒😒) .............. If it was anyone but Donna, well, his reaction would probably have been quite a bit different. But this was Donna. This was his best friend’s little sister. This was the girl he’d loved since he was 10. (OH YES, WE HAVE THE SAME STORY ALWAYS SO BOY LOVES GIRL ALL LIFE BUT OF COURSE THAT THIS NEVER PREVENTED HIM FROM ABANDONING HER AND FUCKING ALL WOMEN AROUND, SO MUCH FOR ANY ORIGINALITY!🙄🙄🙄🙄) ............... What the fuck was wrong with him? Ten years since walking away from her without a word, and here he was, lusting after her like she was a piece of meat. Yeah, he’d been doing this shit for years—seeking the most physical pleasure from a potential partner without ever really considering the emotional aspect—but Donna deserved a hell of a lot better from him. She wasn’t just another piece of ass. (OHHH YEAH A SHAME THAT ATTITUDES SPEAK MORE THAN WORDS, LET'S SEE HIS ATTITUDES NEXT🤢🤮🤮) ................ Fuck, if anyone saw them, she would definitely be out of a job and he’d be in deep shit. He was technically her boss, and this was something he never did. For as much sleeping around as he did, he never hit on his employees. But it was Donna. This was the woman he’d fantasized about for ten years, the woman who was the benchmark for every other partner he’d ever had. Walking away from her now just wasn’t going to happen. (CAN YOU UNDERSTAND HOW RIDICULOUS THIS SOUND?) ................ She shouldn’t have done this for a million reasons. What the hell was she thinking anyway, jumping into dirty sexy time before they shared more than a handful of words, none of them of substance? What kind of woman did that really make her? Shouldn’t she at least insist on a date before jumping into bed with him? Or, in this case, jumping onto the nearest flat surface so he could finger her until she screamed. (YEP, ANOTHER DOORMAT🤦‍♀️) ................ “You told me you cared, you told me how beautiful I was, you gave me this earth-shattering kiss, and then you were just gone. You just up and left without a trace. Without ever calling anyone to check in. Do you have any idea how many people just assumed you were dead? How many people in the old neighborhood figured you got in some shit and you were probably rotting in a ditch somewhere? Danny was fucking heartbroken that you would walk away without telling him where you were going or if you were ok. It’s been ten fucking years without a word from you, and now you’re back to telling me how beautiful and special and wonderful I am. So, I’m sorry that this all seems a little sudden and unexpected, and I have no idea how to really deal with it. By the way, what exactly was so damn important that you were willing to abandon your entire life?” (WHAT HAVE YOU ASKED THESE QUESTIONS BEFORE OPENING YOUR LEGS TO HIM?🤷‍♀️) ................... He’d spent the last ten years of his life trying damn hard to forget his past. Living in the moment had become his mantra. Really, that was the only way he could survive the guilt. As much as Donna’s words stung, it was nothing compared to what he’d said to himself over the years. (HOW DOES THE DICTATE SAY: THE WORST LIE IS THE ONE WE TELL TO OURSELVES, DOES HE REMEMBER TO BLAME HIMSELF WHILE HE WAS FUCKING ALL OTHER WOMEN?🤬) .................... "Her eyes immediately fell on Drake, a smug smile spreading across her face as she slowly made her way across the room. He couldn’t deny the fact that Kira was one of the sexiest women he’d ever encountered. Her short dark hair was perfectly styled to frame her face. Angular cheekbones, sultry eyes, and pouty lips were all perfectly painted and accented thanks to hours of makeup every morning. A tight, low-cut t-shirt, jeans that showed every curve of her body, and knee-high boots completed the picture. This was the kind of woman who could stop traffic, a woman who could have any man she quirked a finger at. She was rich, well-educated, and beautiful, and most men would kill to be with her." (YES, BECAUSE WE LOVE TO SE THE "ZERO" LUST ANOTHER WOMEN, HIS EX😒) NOW LET'S SEE WHAT THE EXCUSE IS SO ORIGINAL THAT THE AUTHOR MAY HAVE INVENTED FOR A MAN WHO LOVES A WOMAN SO MUCH TURNED BACK WITHOUT EVEN AT LEAST SAID GOOD-BYE AND NEVER COME BACK FOR 10 FUCKING YEARS: “You know, I wasn’t planning on leaving forever .... I didn’t want to leave, either. I didn’t want to leave you. A few months before I took off, I started getting involved in some… really bad shit. Shit that I am not proud of. The guys I started running with, they made Danny and Lenny and me look like fucking boy scouts. They were hardcore, and they decided I was one of them...I knew these guys, and I knew what they would do to me for abandoning them. They’d come after me, and they would go through the people I cared about most in the world .....Every day I thought about coming back, and every day there was a new excuse. Eventually, it just felt like too much time had passed. I figured you would have forgotten about me, and I couldn’t bear the thought of that. It seemed better to stay as far away as possible; at least that way, I wouldn’t have to deal with your rejection.” (YEP, ALL THIS BECAUSE HE WAS A FUCKING COWARD🐓😤) "Ok, now that was just patently ridiculous. She couldn’t imagine ever kicking Drake out of her life, no matter what he did to her. She’d have welcomed him back without question. Even now, even when she was practically forcing him to tell her all about his past, it didn’t really matter. The fact that he was here meant more than any words. Donna laughed quietly. “Drake, you know that I would have dropped anything and everything for you in a heartbeat. I never would have rejected you.”( LIKE I SAID DOOORMAT🤦‍♀️) ................ “Oh my god, Drake. Don’t be such a fucking dumbass. Of course she wants this to be a long-term thing. Do you really think she’d be with you if she didn’t? She’s stupidly in love with you, and you’ve got it just as bad. The two of you just need to get over your bullshit and make this official. Tell the other partners, and if they don’t like it, tell them to shove it where the sun don’t shine. Move her into that ugly ass apartment of yours. And for god’s sake, don’t let her go.” Andrew sighed. “Do you love her?” Of that, he had no doubt. He nodded, a smile spreading across his face. “I do. I’ve loved her since we were kids but seeing her again and being with her… It’s been amazing.” Drake leaned back in his chair, lacing his fingers behind his head. It was so easy to slip into a fantasy world where he and Donna could fully embrace their love, without any of the extra bullshit. (LETS SEE HOW HE TOOOOOOTALLY LOVE HER) ................. "This wasn’t her first scare, and Donna had no issues with peeing on a stick.....God, if this came out the way she thought it might, she had no idea how to tell Drake. They’d never even broached the topic of children, and she had no idea how he felt about kids, let alone if he ever wanted any of his own. It wasn’t like he’d had the greatest childhood himself, and she wouldn’t blame him if he never wanted to procreate. God, she couldn’t even imagine trying to do it on her own. Thankfully, she had a feeling that even if Drake wasn’t entirely sold on the idea of kids, he would still stand by her. No matter what, they were in this together. Probably." (WAIT AND YOU'LL SEE) ............... “Kira, what’s wrong?”“What’s going on? Are you ok?” “I’m pregnant.”He nodded slowly, voice quiet. “Is it mine?” It was a perfectly valid question. Kira had never been one to wait very long between relationships. Hell, most of the time she was fucking around before one even ended. Plus, she’d sworn up and down that she was on birth control, but Drake knew Kira wasn’t the most honest woman in the world. “You can’t just abandon me, Drake!” Her voice cracked with fear-driven fury. “This is your baby, you did this to me! I need you to make it right! And if you don’t, I will make you regret it!” Kira’s lower lip trembled as she lifted her chin, her eyes shining defiantly. “If you don’t marry me and take care of this baby, I will kill myself. And everyone will know that it was because you were a fucking deadbeat dad.” (AND OF COURSE HE BELIEVED IT BECAUSE HE'S SOO SMART AND SHE WAS ALWAYS SO RELIABLE ISN'T?🤦‍♀️🐴) "The last thing Drake wanted was to marry Kira Lancaster and raise a child with her. What he wanted was the spend the rest of his life with Donna, the woman he loved. But sometimes, life doesn’t work out that way. Sometimes, he had to do the thing he desperately didn’t want." (AAAND THERE IS, WHEN AS ATTITUDES SPEAK MORE THAN WORDS, WHERE'S AAALLL LOVE AND PROMISES THAT HE WOULD DO THE RIGHT THINGS FOR "ZEROIN" FROM NOW??🤷‍♀️) .............. “Kira is pregnant. I can’t… fuck. We can’t be together right now. I’m so sorry.” (YEP, RUN AGAIN FUCKING COWARD) ............... "Yeah, he got Kira knocked up and he had to take responsibility for that. But breaking up with her? He’d been faced with a choice and he made the wrong one. He chose Kira. And now, he was going to have to live with that." Fuck it and fuck him. She would raise this baby on her own." .............. “You stupid mother fucker. Yeah. Donna’s pregnant, with your kid, and you just dumped her. You used her and dumped her and you chose some stupid bimbo.” “But you’re a piece of shit. Did you know that Donna found out the day you fucking broke up with her? Yeah, she was gonna tell you, until you waltzed in with your big, exciting news. And you’re marrying that woman? Are you fucking serious?” “Kira threatened to kill herself if I didn’t marry her.” Oh yeah. Another pathetic excuse. "Danny rolled his eyes. “And you believed her, of course. Because she really sounds like the kind of person who would do that, huh? Do you have any idea what you did to Donna? She’s been fucking crying for three days straight, man. Because you picked someone else.” “If I’d known Donna was pregnant, I never would have…”“What, broken up with her? Tossed her aside like trash? So her being knocked up is enough to want her, but only if she’s pregnant?” “I’m such a fucking dumbass.” (TOTALLY AGREE HERE!) ................ "Please, Donna. I know you hate me, and I know you never want to see me again. But I need just a few minutes. Then, if you want, I’ll be gone from your life forever. I promise.” (RUN GIRL, JUST FUCKING RUN!) "She sighed heavily. That was the last thing she wanted. More than anything, Donna desperately wanted to grab Drake and drag him back into her life. After getting a taste of what they could be together, and how happy he’d made her, she didn’t want to lose that. Even though he’d broken her heart by choosing someone else, she still wanted him."(BECAUSE I'M SO MUCH DUMB TO LIVE) ................. "I love you, Donna, and I want to be with you, if you’ll have me. I want to be part of our baby’s life, and I want you to marry me.” 🤢 ............... "He’d spent weeks telling her he loved her, only to turn tail and run at the first sign of difficulties." (YES, HE DID EXACTLY THAT, AND WHAT SHE WILL DO? ............... "Yes, she was afraid, but that’s not why she wanted him back. She’d never intended to be a single parent, but she was more than willing to do it, if that’s what she took. But her need to have Drake in her life went far beyond wanting a partner to help with diapers." "He was her soul mate, her other half. The person who she knew needed to be in her life." "That’s why she was going to take him back. That’s why she was going to open up her heart again. It might get hurt, but oh, it might also become something beautiful." (AAAAAAND AGAIN WE HAVE ONE MORE SAMPLE OF A FEMALE CHARACTER WITHOUT THE MINIMUM OF SELF-RESPECT) .................. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A CREATIVE AND ORIGINAL BOOK WITH AUTHENTIC CHARACTERS AND WITHOUT RIDICULOUS CLICHES MAYBE THIS IS NOT THE BOOK FOR YOU.

The h is pretty broken after 5 years in an abusive relationship and got away from the bad dude only to have a hard time getting a job and making do. The h's roommate gets her an interview at the company where, surprise, the H is a founding partner. Although they fall more in love w eachother, the H really screws up and breaks it off w h the day she finds out she's pregnant with his baby. Usually this is my favorite part for a good climax. The h keeps it a secret and either leaves or whatever and both parties are miserable for a few months without the other. But here, they are only broken up for like 3 days before the h's brother is introduced, hears her story, then goes to the H to tell him she's pregnant and he's an idiot. So then they get back together after 4 days. This is too short a climax/separation. Although I thought the author did a very good job expressing the rawness of her PTSD, coping mechanisms, and the scene where of course the abusive ex finds her alone and commits strangulation, aggravated assault, and attempted rape (without it being too triggering bc we get a blank spot when the H intervenes and saves her). Anyways, those aspects were very real, but the breakup pain, separation, and reunion were not exactly contrived but on the trite side of things. I mean, one or both characters has to make a stupid mistake in forcing the breakup, but the speed of everything lessened the climax's gravity. I thought the sex scenes were pretty good, I felt like long enough, though I don't think I remember the oral sex either party received being actually explained (maybe the first hookup but only the girl's if so). I think it was more due to my headache than the writing but I wasn't really turned on by anything though, which is strange. I would say objectively 7.1/10 on sex-o-meter based on amt of scenes, there steaminess, and the relative kinkiness (over a 7 for including the fact that the H did get head, though they didn't describe it at all). Honestly, the book overall kinda doesn't need this long of a review, I just hope to see this in a few months when I try to find new boss/surprise baby novels and make a better informed decision as to whether I should spend another 3.5 hrs reading it for the 2d time.

Main character Donna, unfortunately, married the wrong guy when she was young. She spent too long in an abusive marriage. But she's a strong character and makes her break when she can, reinventing herself and creating a new life. This is a great story of redemption on several levels, and a reminder of the power of believing in yourself. Readers should be aware that trigger points are possible regarding abusive situations, both physical and emotional/verbal. Ex-husband Lenny is an Olympic-quality jerk. That being said, the story is magnificent, captivating, and beautiful.

Great book again!!! Donna never got over her true love Drake. She was thrown into an abusive relationship. She finally was able to get away from it. Found a best friend in Amber. Went for a job interview and found Drake. He helped her get through the abuse, he said he wouldn't leave her again. Then his ex told him she's pregnant, without a thought in the world he drops her like a got potato. Don't want to tell you everything. I recommend reading this book!!!! This was okay. It’s a insta-sex second chance story. It just seemed too rushed to me. They haven’t seen each other in 10 years and a week. Then all of a sudden it’s sexy office time. Gah. Not for me. It does get a lot more interesting with Lenny and Kris involved. They cause some major meltdowns and issues between the two main characters. Overall I wasn’t a big fan. I almost put this down a couple times. Then interesting stuff would happen That I want to see played out and I would keep reading. This was okay. It’s a insta-sex second chance story. Melissa Devenport definately has another winner with this book. I couldn't put this book down I had to read it straight through, too many things kept happening I just had to see how it ended. This is a stand alone about Donna her older brother Denny, his best friend Drake and another friend Lenny. They all hung out when they were kids and the story goes on from there. Fantastic book well worth the read. Melissa Devenport definately has another winner with this book. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance Donna escapes an abusive relationship and is looking forward to staying a new life in Seattle. Imagine her surprise when one of the partners at her new job is none other than her brother’s childhood best friend! Donna always had a huge crush on Drake then he disappeared without a word. They quickly rekindle their friendship and soon become more. Will their respective exes permit them to have an HEA?

This is Bad Boy Boss written by Melissa Devenport. Donna has left the past behind and started over in a new town with a new job and new friend. The past comes in quickly when she sees Drake, her childhood friend and love of a lifetime. Things get a little hard as they try to work together and fight their attraction for one another. Throw in her abusive past and let that all marinate. Lucky for me, Ms Devenport pulled it all together for the HEA I was hoping for.

Short. The book was short. Donna had been through a lot. She was a tough cookie. I liked that she ahead a true friend in Amber. For her not to be able to go home to family we not something that should have happened. You should always be able to go home. Drake really changed his life around for the better. His decision at the end when Kira told her the news was weak. Glad he came to his senses.

Really good read. It does deal with domestic abuse so it might trigger some, but other than that, really good! Donna and Drake make for a good couple. And the rest of the story had enough of everything else to keep you going to the HEA!!

Melissa Devenport is certain to deliver entertaining, descriptive, well-written storylines. This book is no exception. There are great main characters, an abusive ex, steam, drama, romance with a protective Hero. Great read. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

Moving on Donna and Drakes story is intense, emotional, hot, sexy, heart wrenching and deals with some hard issues. The past will affect them all, can tbey overcome it? Well written and captivating. I loved the characaters and the storyline.

It was okay There were a few times I wanted to stop reading because I was irritated with Donna at times and then Drake at other times. The story was good, but the characters rather formulaic.

I read this book in one day. It was such an easy read, and I loved the characters in this book. The only thing I would say is that I feel there could have been a bit more detail in the actual relationship between Drake and Donna, because I feel like the detail was enough to show they loved each other, but I feel there could have been more there.
