Great characters and a suspenseful plot. Cold murder cases, cover-ups, a resurrected girl looking for answers, and a number of people not wanting the answers to be found. Recommended.

It took me a longer time than usual to finish this book, especially the mid-section was a bit complicated but worth every minute. The main story and the underlying ongoing one about Sarah (Evan's wife) are not clearly separated and sometimes you have to read really carefully to know what is going on. I was happy that I'd read the last book in this series, but I'm sure most people can figure out things from the information given by the author. I was happy that I'd read the last book in this series, but I'm sure most people can figure out things from the information given by the author. Kate Guillory is allowed to read the autopsy report of Evan's wife and has later on a number of questions in her head. But she can't find the right occasion to discuss them with her friend. The man with whom Sarah lived during her memory loss years, is murdered and strange or not he leaves his house to Evan (they had become kinda friends). There are also a number of papers. Before Evan and Caleb (son of best friend Crow) can go and investigate them, the other case calls out to Evan and Caleb has suddenly disappeared. Evan also thinks that Jay, the 2nd man of his wife, is killed accidentally by someone who wanted to kill Sarah's husband, but got the wrong one and that he himself is the real target. Lori Huston a recent murder victim turns out to be Claire Duvall, a girl who went missing 20 years earlier. At the time of her death, she was investigating the unsolved murder of her parents. Evan and Kate discover that these were not the only murders during that same period in a usually quiet county. The investigation puts you constantly on the wrong foot. Every time that I thought to have solved the crimes, there was new information, alibis, full-blown and half-baked lies and what-so-more that conflicted with that theory. The end is a real surprise. It's a very good crime novel but it's actually also a sad and tragic story. There's 1 thing that keeps bugging me: from where does this PI get his income? In the previous volume, he was doing a favour for his mate Crow. And in this book, it's his other friend, police detective Kate, who asked him to look into this case. If he doesn't get any paying customers his business won't last very long. I received a free ARC from the author and this is my honest review.

Also during this adventure he discovers that the individual who wound up marrying his wife was murdered and that Evan was the benefactor of his will. Ultimately, Evan and Kate wind up back at the location of Evan's dead client and are able to piece together that events and who the culprit was that murdered all of the victims some twenty years earlier. They wound up being assisted by an individual who at 1st look was homeless. The ending explained all of the rationale for the murders and who the ultimate killer was. The story did not answer who the real killer of the individual who left Evan his inheritance or what happened to Caleb, Crows' son, who was to be a part of the team when Evan was going to find out what exactly the reason for the murder of his benefactor. In order to find out what was entailed in the story, then you must read this book which I heartily recommend. I was provided a free ARC of the book by the author. This is my honest, voluntary review.

Super good story, well written and well developed, gives you the twists and turns and ups and downs you would expect in a good thriller. No spoilers in my reviews just know that this book is chock full of everything that attracts you to and makes you yearn for that next great read! This unpredictable ride does just fine as a standalone, and you won't feel lost as you get to know Evan but you might want to read this series from the beginning to get the backstory. My final words: Gripping and entertaining! Just go get this book, you'll be glad you did! I received a complimentary copy of this book and this review is honest, unsolicited, and solely mine.

Another deep, convoluted mystery for PI Evan Buckley to unravel. With the help of his cop female friend/would like to be more, maybe, Kate Guillory, he has to work his way through cold cases from decades back in order to find the answer to a current situation. With lots of villains come lots of dead bodies which makes for mysteries within mysteries. Evan's story continues and gets more interesting with each book. In this book he also takes on a new client and being as inquisitive and should we say stubborn as he is solves a number of old murders and a new one. A great story. I think I finished this book at 4:30 in the morning. Evan's story continues and gets more interesting with each book. An Interesting Twisting Memory Lane Crime Wave You think you will be going down one road for the novel and end up in a totally different state and mind. A fast paced search for who done what to who when. And pennies only drop at the end. This is a good read.

A 20 year mystery that gets solved on piece at a time. Evan Buckley asks questions that leads the reader conclusion. A story full of half truths and hidden secrets. The characters are wonderful and well-developed. I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Excellent story lines and plot. Didn’t think that Kate’s swim and Huey event added much to the story - seemed unnecessary and a bit contrived. Also, waited a long time for Evan and Kate to get together - was just ok for a special relationship.
