A “Who can your trust?” tale of FBI, drug dealers, and hidden gold This is a fairly straight-forward story where a vacationing FBI agent gets pulled into an investigation of a small town where the “leading family” has a drug operation going on, using public events in the town to launder their profits. But I liked the characters, especially the agent’s children. There was decent suspense. I already have copies of the first two “Critical Incident series, and pre-ordered the third.

Great job Mr. Dorow on showing another side of the main characters.

What A Vacation! This story was so neat to read, the life and times of a family who had experienced some tough times and who gets to go on vacation to reunite and redevelop familial bonds. I'm hooked! I just read it straight through in a marathon session! The promise of a simple relaxing family vacation up north by one of Minnesota's 10,000 (plus) lakes, in the last weeks of summer before back to school, turns into something decidedly unexpected, involving the whole family! Great Series Jack is at it again only this time he and the family are supposed to be on vacation. Well things happen for a reason and his vacation was more of a mystery plus work. Great series I am really enjoying it.

Clever story. An enjoyable way to pass a couple of hours or so with a novel like this. Jack Miller, FBI, takes his family away for a vacation. This turns into a working holiday when Jack intervenes in a fight between 2 men. Drugs and gold are at the root of this tale along with a crooked family. Good fun.

Glad I kept going I stop about 20% 5rough a book and decide if it’s worth continuing. This almost didn’t make the cut but I decided to press on. That was the right decision, it picked up and grabbed me. Now to get the first in the series and catch up.

Good story, a few flaws but still a good read! I liked the book, the story was good and kept me interested and reading more.. Area times I didn't want to put it down! I read the first and that lead me to this book and I was not disappointed! I gave it 4 stars only because there were several times through out the book there would be extra words or the wrong word used in the sentence. Other than that it was a good book and I enjoyed it an I am looking forward to book number 3 in the series! Good story, a few flaws but still a good read! Lake vacation mystery A FBI agent takes his family on vacation to a northern Minnesota lake. He runs into an older gentleman in an altercation with a young man his first day. Throw in a long told story of missing gold, a growing drug problem for the local police chief, and his vacation becomes anything but relaxing. The twists and turns keep one reading to see if the mysteries can and will be solved!!!

This novel was in a group of freebies I downloaded en masse. It is well-plotted, well-paced, and has fully-developed characters. The independent publishing shows only in the quality of the editing. There were quite a few grammar errors that should have been caught before publishing - misuse of lie/lay, some verb tense errors, a couple of character-name mixups, and A few pronoun-case errors.

A busy FBI agent tries to take a two week vacation with his family and all hell breaks loose. Not In any particlular order, this book contains bullying an elder, dtugs, shooting a dog, missing gold from the civil war, a fairly new town sheriff, some OD's, fishing, kidnapping, boats on a lake, and a few other things that will keep you reading.
