This book has everything a person could want, romance, paranormals, magic, a murder and a mystery. This is the first book I have read by this author and I found it to be very well written and would absolutely read more by January Bain. I was given an ARC from Booksprout and am leaving an honest review.

Heavy on the Cozy, Light on the Mystery This is the second book in the Manitoba Tea and Tarot series, and the second book that I have read in it. I will admit that I love the concept of this series because tea and tarot are two of my favorite things! I would love to frequent that little shop. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book, so I was looking forward to the next. The series revolves around three sisters who have magical powers, each different. Charm, the heroine in this book, is only just coming to understand and work with what she can do. She has an interest in the new Mountie, but a gorgeous friend of his family has shown up, making Charm a little jealous. A film crew comes to town, and their accountant turns up dead. Other issues come up as well, and someone close to Charm is one of the suspects, leading her to want to investigate to clear their name. As in the first book, the characters and the relationships between them are a delight. The paranormal aspect is fun. Unfortunately, as can happen in cozy mysteries, the mysteries themselves seemed to take a back seat to the quirky characterization and magical worldbuilding. For instance, the dead body wasn't found until about the 21% mark. As that is the inciting incident for a murder mystery, not a lot of room was left for the mystery to be fully explored. This is already a short book, so not much space is given to the mystery. The other “mystery” shows up quite a bit later. All in all, I like the world and the characters that the author has created; I just wish that the mystery itself was more emphasized. I received a free advance copy of this book, but that did not affect my review. Read my other reviews at https://www.readingfanaticreviews.com.

I really enjoyed Movies, Moonlight & Magic. The characters are interesting and detailed. I really like Charm and enjoyed how her magic is developing as she discovers new powers. The magic was intriguing. The mystery is interesting and had enough twists to keep you guessing. The book is well written and captured my attention from the beginning. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Charm, a witch, and a triplet, is back, in her cozy little town and faced with a murder again. A movie is being filmed here, and her sister is staring in it. Familiar characters from book one are here, but if readers hadn’t seen that book, it’s okay. This second in a series is a standalone. Charm is a good name for the protagonist, as it suits her well. Her love interest is a strong character who adds conflict in his own way. It’s not a high-tension tale, but the little details keep a reader immersed in this world. As we learn more about the crime, we also discover more about Charm. These details add depth to her. Another antagonist—not the murderer—adds another touch of tension and interest to the story. What will happen with this one, who happens to want what Charm has? The secondary plot is not really connected to the primary plot, but it paints details and adds to the understanding of characters. This is a cute little story and a great continuation of Charm’s escapades. Readers of cozy mysteries who like unconventional characters could really enjoy this one. If there is a third in this series, I would definitely like to read it.

I just love the banter between Charm and the Constable. They are always trying to one up the other. When Charm is not around the Constable she is always thinking of something to say to him that will out do him. Movies, Moonlight, and Magic is a fast read with lots of mystery and suspense. The atmosphere of Movies, Moonlight, and Magic leaves you feeling all warm and cozy. I just love this world with Star, Charm and Tulip and can’t wait for more from their cozy little world. I would love to see more of Charm and Constable Ace Collins. I would recommend Movies, Moonlight, and Magic to all fans of mystery and suspense.

I really liked the additions brought on by the film crew as they made for lots of interesting characters who didn't always mix well with the small town locals. I am still not overly fond of small town closed minds, but overall the town is growing on me. Overall, the story was well written and gave us a nice plot with lots of twists to keep us guessing. I am definitely looking forward to the next story. Highly recommended. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout for review purposes.

So much happened in this book. Multiple things with the murder, blasts from the past (more then one), something might be going on with Charms healing power that affects her, and then there’s the romance with Ace...or the start of one...maybe? Read the book to find out, it’s really good! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
