He’s destined for a big corporate job all the way across the country. So when he starts to show interest in her, she knows it’s only temporary, and Holly’s not interested in a fling. She wants her happily-ever-after. But he’s very hard to resist… Can a love spell rewrite the future? If so, Holly will need to learn to follow her heart and, for once, trust what she can’t see.

So this is what the summary promised a cheesy Christmas hallmark movie with witches (although that last bit is a stretch). Did I enjoy the book? Yes it was fluffy, easy reading, heart warming mush. Was it great? Nope We’re there witches? Nope not really. There is a mention of oh she’s an air witch and floated candles for us, or oh fire departments need a good fire witch. Basically it is a contemporary romance that happened to give a few people magic powers but we don’t hardly see any at all. My biggest complaint is the beginning of the book. I feel like it was missing. Some time before the start of the book a nosy match making witch slips our two main love interests a love potion. - I would have liked to seen this. The characters have already meet by the time the books starts and they practically leap into bed. There was no tension no build up. Just cheese. Oh well it was a fun flirty holiday read for fun.

But when I say “a touch”, it is really “a touch”, that is to say it is very light. But it was nice. Holly lives in Christmas Grove, she’s struggling to recover from a difficult break-up which hanpenned two years ago. It’s also the case for Rex who is only in town for a month. When someone pours a love potion into their drinks, they will have to decide if they are willing to put aside all their wounds to move on. But they also know that whatever happens between them, Rex is destined to leave and their story has an end date before it even begins. I had a little trouble getting into the story, but once I did, I had a great time with the characters! Of course, the story is not very surprising and it follows a fairly classic line, but it allows you to read something light with a touch of Christmas, which is always nice. It was a good first tome and I’m quite curious to try another one of the author’s series!

WOW! Absolutely loved this story I have read all of Deanna Chase's books and I say this every time...how does she do it? How does she make me love her latest book when I loved all of them before? The characters are loving and heartwarming. I laughed out loud and I cried...I always go through emotions when reading a Deanna Chase book and this was no exception. I finished this story in one setting because I couldn't put it down. I am anxiously waiting for the second book in the series. I've always said I wanted to live in Keating Hollow but now I want to live in Christmas Grove...maybe a home in each place....so I can travel back and forth....on my broom of course... Thank you Deanna for allowing me to read a digital ARC copy of your latest book for an honest opinion...YOU rocked this book! Highly recommend

This is a series-starter, an offshoot of another of this author’s series. Holly, Ilsa, Amelia, and Rex were all wonderful characters who tugged at the heartstrings. This author amazes me every time she writes a romance; I cry, laugh, and get angry (in a good way) every time. Not only that, it was nice to see a couple of characters from the other series. Rex and Holly are our first couple in the new Christmas Grove series from Deanna Chase and this was a seriously good story. Not as great as her Witches of Knitting Hollow series. This is a spin-off series and our couple gets a chapter in the other series to spin-off here. I was looking forward to warm fuzzy Christmas family fun, but it didn’t quite capture that. It was more contemporary romance with a few mentions of witchcraft. We don’t really see them using their powers like we do in the other series. Also there’s not that family and friend feeling as I got in the other series. Holly does not wish to get her heartbroken again, but she cannot resist spending time with Rex especially when he offers to help with the town toy drive. What does the future hold for the spirit witch and Mr. Holiday? A Witch for Mr. Holiday is the first novel in Witches of Christmas Grove series. I enjoyed the descriptions of this magical village with its unique residents. Deanna Chase’s writing drew me right into this enchanting tale featuring Holly and Rex. They each have issues that must be worked through. There is also a sweet little boy who could use a special Christmas gift. Harry Potter fans will just love the detailed descriptions of Holly’s special Christmas decorations. There is a fair amount of foul language (unfortunately) and there are some steamy scenes. There is delightful humor sprinkled throughout and a character or two from Keating Hollow makes an appearance. We get a sneak peek at the couple featured in A Witch for Mr. Christmas. A Witch for Mr. Holiday is a spellbinding tale that will keep you riveted on a cold winter night.

I absolutely loved Holly and Rex. It was fun to learn more about the Witches of Christmas Grove. Rex & Holly are the first couple in this spin off series. I felt like you don’t have to read the Keating Hollow series first to see what’s going on as this book could be read first but you gotta meet the Townsend sisters first. I have fallen in love with some of the minor characters and the kiddo was my favorite. These books, and this one especially, remind me of a Hallmark Channel Christmas Special. It’s written just like a real show would play out (except a bit more hint at romance without any sex scenes). The narrator’s voice on the Audible version is quite soft-spoken which adds to the feel. The characters are relatable and likeable. I just wish there was more adversity, depths of stronger emotions, etc. There’s plenty of sympathy, empathy, tears, and frustration, but for once I crave a witch to get These books, and this one especially, remind me of a Hallmark Channel Christmas Special. I do enjoy these stories, but for me they’re an occasional read between my typical paranormal books with a bit more blood and gore. This book was very predictable, almost excruciatingly so. I wasn’t aware that all the Witches books from Chase tie together, so I was surprised when she mentioned another neighboring town (and series) about Keating Hollow, which I read previously. I’m not sure on the official timeline, but I was able to read this and understand it just fine without following a book order. There’s a tiny twist in the very last chapter which can draw readers in to the series to continue to the next book, but isn’t so large to cause an uproar. Overall, it was a good read; just not my typical cup of tea.

Hit with a love spell from a meddling bystander, Rex it's from the start he was attracted to Holly....She however wasn't too sure it wasn't the spell. It didn't help that she had massive baggage, and her gift of future vision saw Rex in the future holding a baby in a town that wasn't hers. Does she trust her emotions and risk her heart once more, or pay attention to this vague vision? Follow this heart warming story filled with all kinds of magic and one woman at the center of it with a huge heart, curious to see how her future will turn out. I already love Keating Hollow, looks like the town of Christmas Grove is the newest on my automatically read list! I can't wait for the follow up! Just be prepared for a unique cliffhanger.

A wonderful start to a new series. Holly didn't appreciate the love spell sent out as she stared up at the big Christmas tree. The man near her was gorgeous, Rex, best friend of her neighbor. The two people are torn between their need for each other and past experiences. One travels and one needs to stay in her hometown around her friends. Rex is leaving after the holidays. Holly's been left before. Are their feelings strong enough and their reasoning right enough to let them have each other--for a time--knowing there is an end around the corner? The characters are endearing. The banter fun. An overall satisfying read.

This is a new series for Ms. Chase and it seems to be a little different from her other books. That is not a bad thing. The book is wonderful. Holly, a spirit witch, has a vision of herself flat on her back at the miniature golf. She hears a ruckus outside, sees her neighbor's dog has a rabbit in its mouth, and rescues it, but doing so, she falls and hurts her ankle. Rex, an earth witch consulting with Holly's neighbor, Zach, has been trying to catch the dog, sees her fall and helps her back into her house. He does a little healing magic. They agree to help Holly's BFF, Ilsa, on a double date with Zach tomorrow night but Holly refuses to golf. Rex and Holly agree to a relationship that they both know ends after Christmas when he leaves for NYC. He can't stay put, and she can't handle people leaving and not coming back. Evaluation This is a cute story; it has Christmas decor competitions, varieties of cookies, baking classes, snow, toy collecting for needy families, and a love story. The magic is open in this world (for instance, every fire station wants a fire witch because they can control fire; Rex consults with farmers), but it isn't free because it costs the caster energy. The story, however, relies too much on sentimentality (Lily and Evan, Hogwarts decor) rather than character development and a meaningful plot. I prefer Chase's Bourbon Street series. Recommendation This story is suitable for anyone who likes Christmas with a touch of magic. There are better stories out there, though. I won't be reading Ilsa's story. Favorite Quotes It could have been the love spell working its magic, but she didn’t think so. What she was feeling had everything to do with the man who’d walked into her life and made her smile everyday just by being himself. Possible Triggers (spoilers) Sex: one scene where they take off their shirts, then fade to black; multiple sexual encounters implied Language: 0 F words, 10 Lord's name in vain, 3 S words Violence: no

There were parts of this book that I really liked. However, there were a couple of things that I disliked so much that I wound up lowering a star for it. My biggest issue with this book was Rex. He's a romantic martyr and annoyed the crap out of me with it. I didn't like the way he treated Holly towards the end which leads to my other big issue with this book. The ending. I also didn't like that the final chapter wasn't even about Holly and Rex! I felt cheated. I also got a little annoyed at all the talk talk talking that Holly and Ilsa did. The way the author introduced (or rather re-introduced) a character just to create drama had me rolling my eyes and I actually skipped over the whole section. I knew where it was going and didn't care enough to read it. I loved Holly. I thought she was an amazing character. She was also done wrong by love and yet hadn't become jaded and a martyr like Rex did. She was open to relationships and friendships, long as they didn't leave or lie to her about staying. Understandable. She wasn't one of those women pining for a man or who felt incomplete because she didn't have a man. She lived her life and went about her day. I do wish she had some sort of practical magic. I loved the town and the world that the author created. The secondary characters were great! I really wanted to learn more about them. I'm not sure how many more books the author plans in this series but I'm hoping to see Rex's sister and her story in a book soon. The writing is good. I enjoyed reading the story even though parts of it annoyed me. I'm not sure why this book is considered a paranormal since the magic was barely there. It's not a mystery either. It's sort of a romance? I don't know what category to put this book in.

I went into this book thinking it would be an easy 4-5 star read for me. Witches, small charming town, romance at Christmas, sassy best friend. Seemed like a no brainer. I was disappointed by a few things though that brought the rating down for me. Being a book with characters who possessed magical abilities, I was expecting more actual magic at the forefront of the story. There was a little here and there, but not a lot. Also, the story opens with a love spell being cast by accident. It is referenced frequently throughout the story but never fully explained. I would have enjoyed more details about it since it was the foundation of the two MC’s being together. For instance, how much of the spell was behind their falling so deeply for each other? This series I found out is a spin off of another witch series by this author, so some of those characters appeared in this story which wasn’t a huge deal except that I would have liked maybe a little more background information about them and their relationships rather than just assuming that readers of this book had also read the other series and already knew who those characters were. Basically, this was a sweet story with heart but not everything I personally expected from the synopsis. 3.50 stars

Holly Reineer isn't looking for temporary, and she knows the minute she sees Rex that he is only here for a short time, and that is not her thing, but when an errant love spell hits her and Rex she ends up deciding that maybe enjoying him while he is here wouldn't be a bad idea. I have loved the residents in Keating Hollow and to find another series set just down the road in the same sort of town was awesome. I also loved that a couple of people from Keating Hollow showed up in this book. I enjoy when authors write one series, then when they move on to another series, they bring favorites from the first to play into the second. I love that interaction and mingling.

Two things: I really REALLY like the covers for this series and I'm getting a kick out of the various quirky individuals who inhabit Christmas Grove. On Rex's end, he's totally upfront that his current job is only temporary. He might like Holly, but his heart is a wanderer's heart and he can't see himself staying in Christmas Grove long-term. Until, you know, he can. Meeting and getting to know Holly makes the idea of staying and putting down roots a lot more palatable. A town full of quirky individuals, a sprinkle of power here and there, an ex who needs a good throat chop, and two people who work VERY well together. *thumbs up* all around. -Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal

This series is a spin-off from the Keating Hollow series. Rex, the hero of this story, is introduced in Power of the Witch (Keating Hollow #7). This book can be read standalone but it's great if you are reading it within the context of the series too. Rex inadvertently drinks a love potion then touches Holly after. The addition of the magic of witches to this little town makes it even more enticing. The community support of each other in this little town was heartwarming and added more joy to it. Add all of that to the growing romance between Holly and Rex - I just couldn't put down the story. I loved it. Warning - cliffhanger at the end for the next book, A Witch for Mr. Christmas!

Audio book review Book 1 in a new series . Love how the author wrote some characters from her Keaton Hollow in to this story . Hero is Rex . Heroine is Holly. Rex is in a new town, Christmas Grove , to help his friend set up the friends business . A witch decides to play a trick on Rex , she pours a love potion in his tea . Holly is a witch that can see the future ( a clairvoyant). What she sees and feels for Rex has her confused. She sees Rex holding a baby in the future but not in her town. The feels are because both She and Rex are attracted to each other but Holly wonders if Rex feeling is because of the potion . Was the vision with the baby hers , will Rex stay or will she move . Gabra Zackman performance for this story is perfect. Her tone was just right for this feel good story

This is a light, fun, sweet and charming new spin off from the Keating Hallow series. Holly and Rex are just awesome. Holly is every witch you want to be. Rex is the sexy guy staying next door. They are on a road to friendship. Or more if Holly can get over the past. I was very impressed with Rex and his kindness he showed through out the book. Holly has a wall that she really has to let go of. They are the sweetest not a couple ever. Does the love spell have anything to do with their chemistry? I read this book in about a day. I could not put it down. There is so much promise to this series. I can't wait till the next book.

A sweet Christmas romance about making hard choices. Mr. Holiday and Miss Reineer had a love spell placed on them, but neither really believed in it, til they started spending time together for the month he had before he left for New York state for his next job. By the months end they were both in love but he still had to leave, Holly even offers to go with him. A happy ending for all will occur, even though there are no redwoods in New York. That bugged me every time it was mentioned.

Nice feel good story If you like Hallmark movies, this book is definitely for you. As it is, what kept me reading until the end was because I’m a huge Deanna Chase fan, otherwise I would not, since this kind of book isn’t my type at all, despite the paranormal aspect. But the book was so well written and the characters so real that I really enjoyed it despite it all. It is also confusing at the beginning for someone who hasn’t read the Witches of Keating Hollow series and it somewhat seems like a Nice feel good story If you like Hallmark movies, this book is definitely for you. Didn't like the beginning So I felt like I missed an important part of the story at the very beginning. Says it's book 1 but somewhere, sometime, the MCs were given love potions. Too bad it wasn't part of this story. It also keeps being referenced throughout the story. The rest was okay. I thought the H went on a bit too long with his fear of commitment. Think I will pass on the others based on this story. A bit too pricey for me. Didn't like the beginning So I felt like I missed an important part of the story at the very beginning. Love it I absolutely love it. It is set at a wonderful time of the year. I love the name of the town and the way the details of this story fit together. It is filled with the spirit of Christmas. I especially loved Evan and Lily. They warmed my heart and I was so glad they gave Evan a great Christmas. Talk about a great introduction to the next story. Guess Zach should if called her back.

Couldn't decide on a rating for this; settling on 3 stars and may continue series. There was so little magic in this one it almost felt like a contemporary romance with a splash of the paranormal. There is talk of it (mention of types of magic but no real deep dive into the world's magical details), some use of it, but more time was spent on the couple - not necessarily a bad thing, just something that struck me as odd. There were some crossover characters from author's Witches of Keating Hollow series, which I haven't started, but other readers may find that to be a draw to this series. Side note: For much of the story I'd read the h's last name as 'Reindeer', not 'Reineer' 😆 I blame it on my one holiday book-a-day binge this December.

This has a fun premise, but I felt that more development of the town was needed. Even though this was the first book in the series, I felt that I was missing some essential information about the town, and even went back to make sure I didn’t miss a chapter or two on my kindle. The author assumes the reader knows that magic is commonplace and that everyone has some type of magic within themselves in this story.

Heaven and Heartache all rolled into one book! SPOILER ALERT You really caught me by surprise... IIsa and Zach have a baby girl Mia. Big OH! M. GEE!!! You are really sneaky Deanna Chase. I am a HUGE FAN OF YOURS AND cannot believe that I have almost read all of your books. This one was a real tear jerker, you must have some magical powers when it comes to writing. It's 3am so I better get a little sleep. Heaven and Heartache all rolled into one book! SPOILER ALERT You really caught me by surprise... IIsa and Zach have a baby girl Mia. Big OH! M. GEE!!!
