Blades hidden in the dark lose none of their edge Alesh and his friends have evaded the Broken and his warriors, fleeing into tunnels hidden deep in the earth. They travel to Peralest, a city where they hope to find help, to find sanctuary. But when night falls and the shadows caper, hopes are snuffed out as easily as a candle flame. Betrayed and hunted, Alesh and his co Blades hidden in the dark lose none of their edge Alesh and his friends have evaded the Broken and his warriors, fleeing into tunnels hidden deep in the earth. They travel to Peralest, a city where they hope to find help, to find sanctuary. But when night falls and the shadows caper, hopes are snuffed out as easily as a candle flame. Betrayed and hunted, Alesh and his companions must learn how to use the magic the gods have blessed them with, if they’re to have any chance of survival. But not all magic is good and not all blessings are kind. Kale Leandrian hides away in his castle chambers, disguising himself so others might not see the monster he has become. But no disguise can conceal the unnatural hunger or thirst for violence growing inside him. A hunger that won’t be stayed. A thirst that must be sated. In Valeria, Tesharna’s soldiers comb the streets for any who might threaten her secret desires. She, too, wears a mask, one of confidence and loyalty to Amedan. But beneath that mask, darkness seethes, a darkness even she does not fully comprehend, for the greatest of disguises hide the truth even from those who wear them. Night comes. The Darkness rises, and in its rising no mortal will be safe. In its rising even gods will die. This third premise comes full of hardship and unsustainable trials, doubts within oneself, a recognition and acceptance of what true friendship is, a fierce embrace to carry on with determination. We’ve come far, and achieved a lot, even though we’ve lost some precious people. With hope, faith and strength we’ll overcome the darkness with light. Heart wrenching, action filled, and nerve wrecking, immersive and thrilling, it has been another fascinating journey! Looking forward to reading book #4!

Not something I'd read again Left frustrated, had to push through the pages by force, descriptions and musings of irrelevant things just to stretch the length of the book, and not to mention the MC, powers given by god and he literally don't use them much, it's just my opinion and all but I'm thoroughly disapointed, three books in and nothing to show for it. Book 3 Book 3 was a fun read and had errors throughout. The overall plot and characters have developed well. The characters complain a lot about their situation and what brought them to where they are in reference to the story. It does get annoying at times. The plot is ongoing and mostly fun to read.

The book starts out fairly consistent with the previous books and you finally get movement on many of the mysteries previously hinted at in earlier books. The character development is well done and you feel characters maturing and changing based on actions taken which I have to applaud given the many dreadful novels I’ve read recently who do not do this properly. The story starts right where it left off in the previous sequel. It is a story of development really with the antagonists and protagonists becoming more accustomed to their goals. The only detractor I have about the story is that it seems to drag on in parts and the book felt like filler episodes of a tv drama. The characters circle at times but it is partly excusable considering there are significant reveals to be had, even with this circumspect way of coming to a conclusion.

Alesh and his friends are continuing on their deadly mission. The evil magic of darkness versus the good magic of light continues to create havoc in the world. The Gods of each are continually battling and people are dying as a result. Alesh’s journey to find the person responsible for his parents death continues to put him and his friends in danger. The cast of characters is awesome, the action/intrigue are non stop and the plot continuation will once again make you loose sleep. Book 3 continues the tale of Alesh and his companions. They are facing a great evil and have to learn to use magic to survive. I love this series more with each book! The writing is excellent and the story is expansive. The characters’ struggle is real and you can really feel their turmoil. This is excellent dark fantasy! The plot is excellent but I don’t want to give any spoilers. Basically just read it! You won’t regret it. It's good to see Alesh and company finally fighting back, not only defending, hitting back. The point of view of the antagonist, when he realizes the consequences of his choices is very well written. Love this book, especially the way that it shows that the gods are just as flawed as us. Somehow, the more the gods are mentioned the more it feels like personal skill of the characters doesnt matter, which makes it kinda boring. The first 2 books (prequell and 1 book) were perfect. For me the series started going downwards witj the first appearance of the gods. They take away the mystical interessting theme which made me wanna read the books. That unfortunately isnt there anymore

It’s just paraphrased Wheel of Time Not joking, there are literal quotes from The Wheel of Time. A super tall prophecies peasant boy is the “Son of the Morning,” a devilish gambler with supernaturally good luck, a big blacksmith guy who “isn’t clever but likes to think things through,” and darkfriends, darkfriends, darkfriends. Still, not bad.

Outstanding Read Once again Mr.Peppers has hit his mark. A outstanding read. Finally Alesh, Katherine an friends make a little headway. Alesh now knows what he has to do an do it right. He just needs to control the light an not the dark inside him. Nice work sir. Ready for the next book.

This book has a lot of pros. Most of which are the usual with Mr.Peppers. Including, relate-able characters who grow and develop more into themselves, individual and team goals strengthen, relationships are handled beautifully. Scenery is well explained.
