I think Deborah Wilson is one of the better historical romance writers out there, but I’m disappointed in this particular book. This is Leonard “Leo” and Madison’s story. Knowing this does not minimize the anxiety about what will happen to Judd. Her depiction of the characters, scenes, tension—all of it is well-done, as always. Knowing this does not minimize the anxiety about what will happen to Judd. Her depiction of the characters, scenes, tension—all of it is well-done, as always. But the plot is less-than-compelling, with a bunch of threads that are difficult to follow, and I found myself pulled in different directions. Characters change, presumably as a result of events, but there isn't enough exploration of the internal turmoil they must have experienced. I attribute this to plot progression rather than character development. All of the familiar characters make an appearance, and plot threads from previous books are followed through to their natural conclusion, but there is something unsatisfying about it. For example, what's going on with Husher? What did the vice regent at Oxford know? What happened to the guy killing members of The Circle? When someone like that goes missing, people notice. There’s too much exploration of his character to leave the reader in the dark regarding his future. There’s a strong theme of forgiveness running through this book and there is a particular moment where Madison is forced to recognize that she hasn’t truly forgiven someone and it is affecting her relationships with others. As soon as she does forgive this person, she feels the tension leave her body and when asked why she finally forgave him, she says, “You’d never earn my forgiveness, _____. Neither is there enough pity in the word to equal what you did to me. Instead, my forgiveness is given as a gift.” The unspoken piece of that is that the gift was actually one she gave to herself. As a result, she shows Leo how to allow himself to accept forgiveness and how to forgive himself. The story could have veered into the didactic, but it stops short of becoming a morality tale, thankfully. Characters learn and grow, and become better, and learning forgiveness is a big part of it. I believe this enhances the story. Finally, I reach the point where I have to share something I disliked. I read an ARC and maybe this stuff was fixed before publication, but there were an awful lot of errors. I don't mean typos; I mean misused homophones, kinda. It was more like the errors had to do with dictation software hearing the wrong word (like enduring instead of endearing). That kind of sloppy editing particularly bothers me. I've noticed it more lately in this author's books. Maybe I've become more aware, but my feeling is that she is rushing through, perhaps pushing her editor(s) to work more quickly than makes sense, and these errors are making it through to the final copy. I hope I'm wrong, but my advice would be to notify ARC readers that final editing is not done and to ask for feedback. Otherwise, do not share until final editing is complete. I realize perfect editing may not be a huge issue for many readers, but I believe there are enough of us attuned to it that writers must do their best to ensure near-perfection by the time the final copy of their work is released.

I have loved every book in the Valiant Love series. Each book builds upon the last and the characters from the beginning to the end are updated in each book. The Childs brothers are sadly based on realistic emotional and child abuse. I applaud the author, Deborah Wilson, for tackling such a sensitive subject head on with no mercy. She laid it out there in the open raw and painful. It certainly got my attention in tune not only in her world but in current events as well. She laid it out there in the open raw and painful. It certainly got my attention in tune not only in her world but in current events as well. Unfortunately for our hero Lord Leonard / Leo Childs I cannot imagine the ghastly things he went through at the hands of his own father. This book is exciting, suspenseful, tension filled, frightening, realistic, calculating and through all that there were moments that brought a tear to my eye. Regardless of the many skills Leo had he thought he was evil and was just like his father. Thank God Madison came into his life and showed him a different way to see the truth that was there the whole time waiting to be discovered. The series dedicated to stopping child abuse has come full "circle". The hunt for the head of the serpent of "The Circle" has been identified and Van Dero has yet to decide his fate. It was wonderful reading about the healing power of love, the facing of frightening fears and making peace with the past to let it go so it no longer had a hold on any of the Childs brothers. The story takes unpredictable twists and turns and there are shocking surprises along the way. This book had me intrigued from the very beginning and is a page turner. You will not want to put it down. The ending is flabbergasting, stupefying, unforeseen and totally unexpected and shocking. This is a very emotional read, excellently written with characters that will touch your heart. This is a must read for any fan of this series. I highly recommend this book as well as the complete series. I look forward to the next book.

In this book alone we finally get Leo story and it was better than I could ever expect he is the brother with the darkest history and probably the most damaged mentally but his story will keep you enraptured, it will make you want to cry at times, and make you love him because he is strong and willing to do what ever is necessary to protect his family. I loved that this book allow the author to wrap up all storylines and let us know where all the couples are and some of the things that have happened since their own stories. Madison was a new character out of the blue and I love her spirit in her willingness the fight. There were times I will be honest I did not like her character but it was just another layer to be peeled back to get to the inner Tigress that she kept hidden. Again pic of the first book in the series and you won't be disappointed I'm just sorry that there are no more characters for us to read about. And each book is special in its own way with no repetition the background story continues smoothly and each book and you get a wider picture each character and their actions or interactions. Farewell 2 my story book characters you will be missed maybe the author WellStar another series with their children all grown up and give us something else to read this reader can only wish.

I enjoyed this story, which started out a dark and frightening situation with Madison Blake, who found herself in the middle of a complicated set of killings and revenge. Matthew has no use for Madison-he only wants the babe to pass off his own. What is to become of Madison once the child is delivered has been made clear: she is to be sent away. Who will rescue Madison from this prison and living death? Enter the most damaged of the 3 Childs brothers, Lord Leonard, who is dealing with his own demons concerning children. Add into the mix another “society” (i.e. mob) that has been involved in dark crimes and is now killing prominent men for unclear reasons. The Duke of Van Dero has been working to uncover this group, but so far has few leads. How all these threads come together, then are resolved, makes for a most interesting story, adding to the saga I have enjoyed all along.

They are not perfect, but men and women who have been in both good places & bad. People who love completely, who are devoted & loyal. She takes me to a place of excitement, of angst, of disbelief, of calm. She creates scenes that will tear sobs from your throat & have you grinding your teeth. I highly recommend this book & all the Valiant Love Regency Romance books. To mine the most from your reading experience, read them in order. To do otherwise will loose you important information!

This is the best book of the Valiant Series. This is the story of Leo & Madison, with a lot of side characters. His past was the darkest of the dark. I was so glad to read about Leo and his HEA! We also get to catch up on the other characters lives that were in the previous books in this Valiant Love series. Many of them had suffered serious abuse but had overcome it with the love and support of their spouses and other family members. This book also wrapped up pretty nicely regarding some of the mystery surrounding them and their actions. Enjoyable. This is the last book where an individual in the inner circle around the Duke of van Dero finds love. Leo, like his two brothers was tortured by his father and doesn’t believe he is worthy of love. Very well written, but can be dark, maybe spoilers I enjoyed reading this well written book. What happens to Maddie should never happen to any woman. Matthew does his best to break her, but she has to remain strong. I felt that Leo wasn't as quick to realize what was going on and while I understand forgiveness is important, Matthew should never be around the baby ever. This was a quick paced, action filled romance with enough twists to keep you reading without putting down the book. This has been one of my favorite series and Leonard is one of my favorite characters. I’ve always felt he was misunderstood, especially by himself. Deborah Wilson has created some wonderful strong characters, both male and female. The men are so inclined to violence and treachery that they have to have ladies strong enough to counteract them. Madison proves to be the one perfect for Leonard. I do hope this series continues with new characters because I would miss our old friends.

The Long Awaited Lord This was a great book to read. The suspense and intrigue were well written into the story. The fact that there were gentlemen who worked to free innocent people from the wealthy and bad people who used them as slaves to do their dirty work was unbelievable as well as the people that had been killed for no reason at all. This was a Free book and well written. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill

This story like all the stories in the series is excellent. Lord Leonard Childs is intriguing and finding out his story makes me understand what drives him and why he can't settle down. Madison intrigues Leonard so much that he finds Madison helps him come to an understanding of himself, and love can heal even the most broken among us. Well, this was the most fast - paced book in the series, in my opinion. The author tries here to close all threads and give most of her heroes closure. It even feels rushed at places. But I liked the characters, they were quite relatable. The topic of forgiveness was a bit heavy-handedly played around, though. It was a good, quick read.
