4.5 Coralee June, that ending was not very nice! Lol Luckily, this is a duet, so I was prepared for anything. I'll forgive you this time, because aside from that, this book ticked a fuck ton of my boxes.  There's a broody, broken, stalker hero, a fiesty heroine, great sexual tension, steam, suspense, mystery, violence, and a whole lot of angst. Couple that with an amazing writing style, a romance I can get behind and root for, "found family," and solid friendships, and you have successfully wo 4.5 Coralee June, that ending was not very nice! I'll forgive you this time, because aside from that, this book ticked a fuck ton of my boxes.  There's a broody, broken, stalker hero, a fiesty heroine, great sexual tension, steam, suspense, mystery, violence, and a whole lot of angst. Couple that with an amazing writing style, a romance I can get behind and root for, "found family," and solid friendships, and you have successfully won me over.  From prologue to epilogue, this story had me completely captivated. I loved the gradual buildup between Hunter and Roe and the mystery surrounding Hunter's past that left him indebted to someone to keep Roe safe. I flew through the pages dying for answers, and when I finally got them, I still wasn't ready for the story to end. Thankfully, there's more, and I don't have to wait very long to get it. Book 2 comes out March 2nd! A Lovely Obsession is obviously an enjoyable read with an awesome storyline, but the characters are what made the book for me. I loved the relationship between Roe and Mack, Mack and Hunter, Roe and her friends, and Roe and Hunter. Every last one gave me the feels and made me emotional at points. I love it when I can feel the connection between all of the characters and not just the main couple. The author did a great job in that regard.  That being said, Hunter and Roe are my favorites, as they should be. They do all the right things to my heart and my panties! 😏 The chemistry between them is palpable, and I love the way they slip past each other's defenses.  Sure, their relationship is complicated with their pasts, Hunter's secrets, and Roe's suspicions and fears. Both of them are shattered on the inside and hate feeling vulnerable to anyone else, but that's the beauty of the two of them together. They can relate to each other's pain and relieve it at the same time.  Hunter needs someone to heal his emotional scars, and Roe is the perfect woman for the job. If he doesn't pull his head out of his ass and let her, I'm going to go to fictional jail for murdering him. Roe needs healing too, and Hunter breaking through her walls the way he does shows me that he's already doing the job. I can't wait to see where everything goes from here and how they finally come together in the end.  Romantic suspense fans, this one's for you!

'A LOVELY OBSESSION' is the first full length book in Coralee June's 'Debt of Passion' Duet. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.' This was one of my most highly anticipated reads for this month, seeing it everywhere and loving this authors previous works I couldn't wait to get my hands on this! I'm not going to lie it did take me awhile to get into but after a few chapters I was hooked, I loved the twists and turns that came with the storyline. Such an intricate, heart pounding suspenseful read that had me sitting on the edge of my seat a few times wondering where the author was going to lead me next. Hunter and Roe are such complex characters, Roe is a beautiful walking contradiction, a senior in highschool, a girl who keeps everyone at a distance. She's seemingly alone in the world other than an Uncle that takes care of her and makes sure she's safe at all costs, to the point of overbearing. Meet Hunter, he's always been in the shadows, watching and waiting, His dirty little secret, his lovely obsession. Never revealing himself to Roe,until now.. Hunter is a man not to be crossed, he works for the Bullets MC, a darkened, tortured soul, until you delve under all those layers and see that he's just a man that cares like anyone else, even though it's unchartered territory for him. * Teaser used is off the authors facebook page *

2.5 stars A Lovely Obsession started off so good and I was glued to my Kindle. Unfortunately by the half way mark it went straight downhill. There was just something missing and I really didn't like any of the characters. Since it is a duet unfortunately there is no HEA and after reading spoilers for part 2 I have no interest in finishing the story. While this one didn't work for me I am willing to give this author another try. 2.5 stars A Lovely Obsession started off so good and I was glued to my Kindle. I really wanted to fall in love with this book. So many awesome reviewers here on GR gave it glowing reviews! And it isn’t a bad book by any means. The characters and writing were fine. I really enjoyed Roe’s poetry, too. Still, something was lacking. I can’t put my finger on it. I just couldn’t seem to connect with the characters, nor feel their chemistry toward one another. Maybe I’m just burnt out on the stalker romance trope. I’ve been reading an awful lot of those lately. 🤣🤣🤣 *May have some I really wanted to fall in love with this book. No questions are answered until the very end (like last 5%), and the answers left me unsatisfied. The H’s explanation of his hatred for the h fell short, and I was left feeling puzzled as to why he felt obligated to take on his “debt.” I think more backstory might have helped me understand, but there was very little. Maybe this is addressed in the second book, which I may pick up at a later date. This is probably more of a case of, “It’s not you, it’s me.” If I’d have read this earlier on, I’d have likely rated it more highly. Definitely don’t want to discourage anyone from reading it! ☺️☺️☺️

Oh. My. Goodness. Good luck preparing for this one, there is no safety net or way to truly be ready to dive into a story like this. I thought I knew everything about Cora’s writing and style up until this point, but she continues to evolve and continuously blow me away. This book felt transcendent to me from the jump, it was immediately evident that this was some of her best work yet. The story doesn’t just read beautifully, it pulses and bleeds and makes you feel. This book felt transcendent to me from the jump, it was immediately evident that this was some of her best work yet. The story doesn’t just read beautifully, it pulses and bleeds and makes you feel. It’s a poetic masterpiece, something that has rhythm and flow and a truly unique cadence that I haven’t witnessed in years. The author manages to carry on this amazing song of a story despite the different plot. The ability to invoke real thought and feelings in the middle of a teenage house party scene is clearly a talent to inspire the masses. These characters are a tangled tragic mess. I love them. Roe is this perfectly peculiar contradiction. She’s a closed off bleeding heart who is full of sloppy emotions and good intentions wrapped in bad decisions. She’s a little bit of all of us if we were more honest with ourselves. I admire her, I adore her and I really respect her entire outlook on life. Then we have Hunter. I mean, damn. If ever there was a man to make your heart beat faster and your soul sing... this is him. He’s possessive, protective, a tattered and torn apart soul who is driven solely by guilt and passion. He is the dream alpha type, someone to light you up from the inside out despite his manic obsession and stalker-ish traits. This book is privy to some of the sexiest scenes I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading, some of that can be chalked up to the epic sexual tension and build-up throughout the story. Whatever the reason, this book easily made my top 10. It’s a haunting story that dances the line between darkness and obsession. It breathes insanity and passion into its readers and holds no prisoners in its tyrannical pursuit to completely consume you.

3.5 stars! If you like steamy books, this one is definitely for you! This book is about man named Hunter who is stalking this girl named Roe. This is a stalker-turns-love-story type of book, and I'm surprised how much I enjoyed it! I loved how this wasn't really a hate to love trope (because I despise those), but instead the characters had good chemistry right away. This author would be really good at writing thrillers in my opinion, because she is great with the suspense and twists! This almost 3.5 stars! A few things I would have changed: I wanted more back story for the characters early on - I was confused by the story until about 60% through, because I had no idea why Hunter was even stalking Roe. I feel like the book actually should have been longer - there just wasn't as much explanation as I would have enjoyed. I’ve read a lot of dark books-and this was a book that had a plot that was indeed full of so much angst and emotional damage by the main characters-but it was all so calculated and for such a good reason. Though Hunter and Roe both had such tough exteriors, we see different sides of them that allow us to connect with them on a level, even if we truly do have nothing in common with them. I could feel their pain and anguish-and utter obsession with the other because I felt it too. I could read the two of them forever! I’m so anxiously awaiting book 2-I’m ready for stellar writing and more of these characters. My head is spinning but in the very best way! A definite top read of 2020.

“Let your damage breathe” Coralee wow just wow. I love a new spin on a dark romance and an obsessive stalker is not one I’ve seen before. These characters were fantastic! Roe wasn’t a wilting flower and always stood up for herself which is refreshing in romance lately. Hunter isn’t the typical whining broody male despite his trauma. Very well written and with a deep psychological motivation for their actions. I love it when an author delves deep for character development. “What a tragic thing, to crave what kills you.” The thing about this book is I don’t exactly remember why it landed in my Kindle. I may have read something from this author but I can’t be sure. The cover wasn’t exactly drool-worthy, and if you can’t tell by my rambling above I am truly at a loss when it comes to this books place in my “First Reads” section. Then I read the blurb, something stuck out that reminds me just a little of one of my top all time favs, RAW. Give me a hot stalker with a criminal empire at his disposal and I become one of those women with an unhealthy obsession. No apologies. I skipped a few to dive into this, knowing it wasn’t the same as RAW but wanting to see just how it compared. Would I love it just as much? The differences are obvious, this is not the same tale spun in Raw & I can’t say that it is better.....yet it holds it own and hit me on a deeper level I didn’t expect at all. You ever feel emotional, like right on the verge of crying yet you really couldn’t pin point a specific thing that got you to that point? This book had me like that within the first few pages and many times after. I connected with the character of Roe in such a painful way, one that convinced me that the broken in me understood the broken in her. I wanted to reach through the pages and hug her. Overall Plot/Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Plot Pace/Speed: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hunter Hammond: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Roe Palmer: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 Emotional Connection: ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Steamy Scale: 🔥🔥🔥 Book Facts: Told in: Dual POV with a past-tense prologue while the rest is present day. About: The first installment of the Debt of Passion Duet, it introduces us to Roe Palmer on her 18th birthday. No family aside from her overprotective uncle, Roe was raised by a mother who was terrified of death & taught to never put herself in danger. She thinks she knows everything about her life, but when she meets Hunter Hammond she realizes she knows nothing. Hunter has watched over her all her life, a debt he owes that he refuses to explain or let go. He hates her, until he doesn’t. But obsession will ruin her & he can’t have that. Safe Read? I think so. Ending: Cliffy that is resolved in book 2 (out now) My Thoughts: First and foremost, she knows how to utilize her prologue to the very max. Some authors don’t use it as it should be, to be completely mysterious yet give just enough of an emotional connection to one or both of the characters to grab your attention and force you to invest in knowing what happened. It’s like she knew Hunter wouldn’t be the kind of antihero you immediately connected with or liked, so she makes sure that one page creates that soft spot for him that is necessary further into the story.....genius I tell you. Roe was the shining star of this story.....I loved that surface level she seems to be just this wild & reckless girl, one that does what she wants even if it results in her being called names or talked about. But it’s so evident she is so much more, the deeper reasons for everything makes her one of those characters you connect with while also cheering her on for being so unapologetically herself. As for Hunter, I am sure he won’t be a reader fav.....I actually liked him a lot. He is definitely one of those you aren’t going to instantly fall for, but I loved how he developed in terms of Roe. Some of the “worst” actions are redeemable bc you know he’s doing it for her. The story/plot itself is insanely intriguing, it’s intense and suspenseful without being confusing. It had a unique back story that didn’t feel far-fetched, it’s one that makes the connection that much better. I could not get enough, I didn’t want to put it down. The ending may throw you for a loop, especially if like me you don’t know it’s a two part story, but I loved the fact she didn’t rely on a bunch of sex to push her story along.....it’s the sexual tension that plays the key role in this one & it’s phenomenal. My Verdict: Without a doubt I would recommend this duet to anyone who likes their reads a little untraditional and a tad dark. Everything about it was fascinating, completely consuming. I don’t know why I am all for stalker/obsession-type stories BUT if they are all like Hunter & Roe’s story I am here for it. I’m not sure if this is my first read by CoraLee but I know for sure it won’t be my last. “I will find you, Hunter Hammond. I will find you.”

Okay so... I'm not sure how I feel about this book. I'm impressed, confused, disappointed and yet interested in reading book two. Let me try and explain: I read reviews, watched a trailer, and had certain expectations regarding this story. None if those were met, but it did create new expectations for book two. How can I describe the story: I'm kind of at a loss here. Is it dark? Not really. It is a high school story (like the trailer suggested)? Nope. A gang story? Not really. A older man/younger woman? Sure. I can't seem to place this into a nice labeled box, it has a little if everything but ultimately I would say it's a story about two lost souls trying to find peace in each other. The rest, really doesn't matter. The characters: Mac was a great, loving, gruff Uncle. Roe was certainly an 18 year old with a troubled past (that was really just a young girl with major issues). She came across very immature; that was an impressive notion for me because of her back story, it was authentic. Hunter tries to be a bad alpha but loses that as he never felt tough to me; strained, confused but never bad or tough. Mrs. Sellers stole her scenes and I really wanted more of her. The plot: this was written in first person, which I love, but was very much a tell me story with very little show me. I spent so much time inside either Roe or (to a lesser extent) Hunter’s head I felt trapped. There was also too many thoughts and actions repeated. I felt they fought about the same question for a good 60% of the book, which left me feeling like the story was flat. It did pick up near the ending but with a complete flip of personalities, I felt like I had been hit was a brick wall, it utterly confused me… But I can see how it set up a second book so I'm not all the upset with it. The steamy scenes were steamy, and it's a slow burn. The chemistry: wasn't there for me. I had no connection to either character, nor did I feel their connection. Had you told me these were two strangers with physical chemistry I would have believed that. Over all: this is a real story, I could imagine the horrors within. I liked the characters relationships, their maturity vs. age/experience, I liked some of the ideas in the plot. With the small blurb from book two and with the many positives from this book, I would like to read book two. Interesting story that both captivated my interest and left me sort of indifferent. Strange mixture but intriguing none the less.

The chemistry between the two is jolting, especially from Roe's perspective. The mutual attraction is immediate and undeniable, but Coralee June does a great job illustrating the change of Roe's interest in Hunter from initial fearful fascination to genuine care and love. Seeing the depth of Hunter's feelings for Roe was also fascinating. His interest may have been born of debt and obligation, but it grows to so much more, and it confuses and infuriates him. Hunter cares for Roe deeply, to the point of unhealthy obsession, but he also resents her and his feelings. These internal conflicts filled A Lovely Obsession with some delicious angst, amping up the taboo factor and keeping me 100% hooked. It also made things even hotter when the two finally get together. The slow burn is intense, and the steam scenes are sexy, raw, and hella emotional. I cannot wait to see what happens with them in book two, A Lovely Confession. While I strongly enjoyed this story, the dark twists weren't as dark or as twisty as I was expecting, and I wasn't as emotionally invested in the story so much as psychologically fascinated by it. The ending felt abrupt and left me adrift in my emotions, but not in the way most duets do. Instead, I felt rushed and a bit disappointed. I am VERY excited for book two, though, and I will be anxiously awaiting the conclusion to this sexy, gritty, angsty story! Arc provided in exchange for an honest review. Book 1 ended on a cliffhanger. I can't wait to read book 2 " A Lovely Confession" and see how it truly ends for them. My Rating: 4.8 stars *******

2.5 stars Based on the synopsis I thought this was going to much darker. There are some weird things going on in Roe's life. The explanation for all of it was disappointing. The debt which was really more like a vow didn't make sense considering it all happened when Hunter was 10 years old. His intense interest in Roe was creepy. He was a lot older than her, and Roe was immature in some ways. I didn't understand why he was so drawn to her. Their relationship was even more demented because he'd be 2.5 stars Based on the synopsis I thought this was going to much darker. There are some weird things going on in Roe's life. The rest of the story needed more substance to be somewhat believable.

I won’t say too much because I don’t want to give anything away. This does end in a cliffhanger so you have to wait for book 2 in order to see the conclusion. “You gotta let your damage breathe...” Told in dual POV

A Lovely Obsession is the first book in the Debt of Passion Duet and I was hooked from beginning to end. Although set in the Bullet series world, these are all new characters and you will love this story. The characters in this stalker romance had me consumed, and I couldn't stop thinking about them. This story was suspenseful and thrilling and will leave you wanting more, coupled with the fact that there was that cliffhanger ending and you will be anxious for book 2. This suspenseful, steamy page-turner was a fantastic read and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of stalker romance.

I'm not sure what I was expecting from this story but this was not it and I'm glad it surpassed my expectations. Secrets lies and half truths and a stalker who's not really a stalker. It took me a while to get into the flow of the story but once I did Hunter and Roe had me hooked. Every time they interacted only intensified my need to know more. Are you ready for Dalton to watch over you ?

3.5 ✰ I've been craving obsessive-stalker romance so much! I know some might find that offensive and/or a repulsive plot but I fucking love it. This book was nice and I'm so happy to finally read a book where the heroine is not some naïve virgin girl. I liked Roe (most of the times) as well as Hunter but the ending killed it for me. (view spoiler)[ How can a guy who's been obsessed with a girl since he was 10 years old just suddenly decide to leave her? Who knew pain would feel this good? I feel like my heart was just ripped out of my chest, taken from the protection of my ribs, left dangling helpless in the air, ready for Coralee June to come take her final swing. This book will make you bleed. I wish I could say I didn't want it to, but I would be lying. I want it to hurt you. I want you to feel the poetic chaos that is currently haunting me. If I had to describe ALO in one word, it would be loss. Through H&R you experience the many unfiltered and unapologetic forms of loss. Painful, yet necessary. This book oozes pain and truth, like the sky pours rain. Little by little, then all at once. It won't leave you feeling whole. It won't leave you with sunshine and rainbows, but it does leave you with a piece of Hunter...and that's worth it. Hunter will peel your skin from your bones, slowly. He will inject himself right into your veins. He is liquid fire, burning through your body, consuming your soul, leaving you in ashes. I guess it's a good thing Roe is a Phoenix.

I liked this stalker romance, but why do they always have to be assassins?! 3/3 stalker books I’ve read and it’s the same. I need some variety in my life!! Ok, /end rant. I really did like the story, though. Something about Hunter watching over Roe her entire life is kind of intriguing. This book ends in a cliffhanger and you know I’m going to immediately download and read book 2. I need to know what happens, and I hope these characters wise the hell up and figure it out.
