Sacrifices will be made, trusts will be threatened and alliances will be forged, but will it be enough? This cast of characters has only become more defined, even as it grows. There is so much riveting power on each page, this became a one sitting book for me because I was never ready to say, this is a good stopping point. I wanted more, I needed to know everything and Kaitlyn Davis shared it all with perfect timing! Be prepared to see “old friends” or “enemies” in a new light. Feel their desperation, their determination and be part of the tension that is building to what could be victory or a defeat that is devastating! Fabulous reading throughout this entire series! I received a complimentary ARC edition from Kaitlyn Davis! This is my honest and voluntary review. Everyone is on their own journey and I love how they criss-cross and support one another. Nobody is always right. Yes, mistakes are made. But wow, do I appreciate the real feel of every one of them. The only thing I could really ask for is more romance!! It was such a big point initially and now has fallen to the side a bit. Just a dash of a few more quiet moments between my ships would be *chefs kiss*. I want all the happy endings. AND I BETTER SEE THAT IN THE LAST BOOK. Quietly panicking that the last book is going to take one of them. Diary/Journal aspects are sometimes a miss. Here? Not at all. The addition of journal entries from someone in the past (who I have some theories on now) was just what this needed! It added perfectly to the story and gave a much more well rounded background to how the islands are floating and how they even got there in the first place. I realized I was really caught up in these side characters by the end. That’s how this beautiful writing took me in. It’s a very action packed novel with plenty of political intrigue. Many angles are being addressed and the desire to save the world is clear. I can’t wait to see how this finale wraps up because I have so many answers I need. Overall audience notes: - YA Fantasy - Language: very little - Romance: kisses to closed door scenes - Violence: physical altercations, magic, small battle scenes, earthquakes

Before I begin my review, I want you to know that The Raven and the Dove is my favorite YA fantasy series of all time. I have loved the story and characters so much and I can't wait for the 4th and final book. The Dragon and the Queen easily became my favorite book of the series so far - I read it all within a span of 24 hours! My favorite part of this book was definitely the character development. The Dragon and the Queen easily became my favorite book of the series so far - I read it all within a span of 24 hours! My favorite part of this book was definitely the character development. We get to see Xander (my #1 character) really step up to become a leader that everyone believes in. I also really enjoyed seeing Rafe embrace his newfound powers and protect the people he loves. Rafe has dealt with so much in his life so seeing him ease into his powers just warmed my heart. Finally, Malek. I had very mixed feelings about this character in the prior books but I grew to really like him. I would have loved to read more about his thoughts during some of the actions he took. Overall, I am just so happy that all of the main characters improved themselves in positive ways. I absolutely loved getting to learn more about the world's lore. There are sections in the book where we get glimpses of the world long ago which really clarifies how everything built up to the current point in time. It answers a ton of questions I had throughout the previous books. We also get to learn much more about the other kingdoms in the world above. The previous books focused on the House of Peace, the House of Whispers, and the House of Wisdom but we get more insight into the other kingdoms' scenery, people, and rulers. We also get to learn more about different kinds of magic and meet more mages. This was very intriguing and really raised the stakes for the main characters. I am so glad to mention that the romance and relationships set up in the prior books are further established. I really enjoyed reading the romance scenes in this book and it was much more intense than in the previous books - which I am SO thankful for! Haha. Kaitlyn's writing is so beautiful when describing the different kingdoms, the different types of magic, and the descriptions of different creatures. The world-building and lore are explained in deeper detail and with Kaitlyn's writing style, it's very easy to keep up with and follow. I highly recommend this series and this book in particular to you all. I believe you will thoroughly enjoy yourself and fall deeply in love with all of the characters just as I have :) Lastly - I recommend you purchase the hardcover copies! Each of the hardcovers in this series has the cover art on the naked hardback without any words which makes it stunning to display on your bookshelf. ********* PRE-ORDER GIVEAWAY: If you pre-order this book before its release date on June 21, you will be eligible for some stunning character cards with art by Dominique Wesson! Books, Coffee & Passion The 5 star reviews are always the hardest to write. When a book grips you, almost stops your heart repeatedly and makes you cry and pray for the characters you love so much, it’s hard to put it all into words and do it justice. But here I am, trying to do just that with The Dragon and The Queen. I’ve been reviewing this series since The Raven and The Dove, book one, released and even though I loved it from the first page, it’s fantastic to see how much this series has grown. The Dragon and The Queen, the third book, is now my favorite book in the series! The character growth in it is perfection! Seeing how much Lyanna, Rafe, Xander and Cassi have evolved into such powerful characters is fascinating. Even Malek! The action scenes were riveting and I was glued to every page. Honestly, I couldn’t read it fast enough because I just wanted to KNOW everything but I also didn’t want to reach the last page because then the book would end. The characters deeply emotional connections, their selfless actions, the true love they had for each other really glowed through it all. The pining was breathtaking! The friendships and how these characters bonded, even through their mistakes, were amazing moments too. I couldn’t put my Kindle down. The fact that this is the third book in the series makes it harder to write a review without spoiling it. But I don’t want to spoil it, if you like fantasy stories you NEED to read this series. It’s so worth it! This world is pretty magical, these characters are flawed and amazing, the plot is impressive and there are a lot of surprising twists and turns with great action scenes. The story flows beautifully and the ending… explosive! The Dragon and the Queen was a mind blowing roller coaster. I’m crazy in love with this series! The world building, the character development, the magic system, the story telling were amazing and all of these characters stole my heart. Can’t wait for the next book, that I already need desperately!

I understand it's not for everyone, but this series and me are just a perfect fit. Kaitlyn Davis has an amazing writing style. It flows nicely and is easy to read, but it's most of all very atmospheric and emotional. When I read it really feels like the characters are allowing me into their soul. I can read what they think, but I can most of all feel what they feel. And a lot of times these emotions are heartbreaking. I cried while reading the first book. I cried reading the second and I cried once more now while reading the third book. Just keep on breaking my heart, Davis. I don't need it anyway. In this third book the characters are growing so much once more. I love how this series blurs the lines between good and bad and black and white. We have heroes sometimes messing up or making the wrong choices. And we have villains fighting for a good cause and making the world a better place. It also means that all those characters are so beautifully human. They have to grow, they have to learn, they have to mess up and they have to become the best versions of themselves they can be. And last but not least, this book is exciting from start to finish and doesn't have any dull moments. Loads of series suffer from middle book syndrome, but Davis found the perfect pace for the characters to develop, for everything to happen. Every book has some sort of ending and closure and yet it's quite clear that this is all one big story, that the characters are working towards a goal, that the world is heading somewhere. I can't wait to continue the journey in the next book! ps. If you order this book before release date, you can get some exclusive character art, either printed or digital depending on where you live! Make sure to check out https://www.kaitlyndavisbooks.com/p/p... for more information! The artwork is beautiful so it's totally and absolutely worth it!

I felt bad for Cassi though, who, despite her awful actions in the past, truly thought she was saving the world. It’s amazing how the author manages to make you hate a character in one book, and then sympathise with them in the next. This happened with Malek, who I despised in the last book, but liked and understood more in this one. I liked the discussion of forgiveness and the blurring of the line between good and bad. With an explosive ending like that, I cannot wait to read the final book in this series. It will be very interesting to see how it all wraps up, and what will become of these characters. Rating: 4.25⭐️ Whoa. This series just keeps getting better! This book was nonstop from start to finish and the writing was even better than the first two. It’s rare for a book with so many POVs to keep me excited for every chapter. There’s usually at least one or two perspectives I could not care less about. But with The Dragon and the Queen, I was eager to read every single chapter. “Forgiveness was a fickle thing, swinging like a pendulum, so close one moment and so very far the next.” The developm Rating: 4.25⭐️ Whoa. Each character goes through so many different trials and they only come out better and stronger. Lyana, Rafe, Cassi, and Xander are all precious in their own way and I just want to protect them… So that ending hurt. It really, really hurt. And waiting almost a whole year for the finale is going to be brutal!

3/5 Ah the third book was a bit of a miss for me but still overall wonderful. I found the Diary scenes boring unfortunately although I assume they were necessary and I found the dragon fighting scenes a bit on the repetitive side with the same things always happening, like earthquake-falling-egg crack-dragon-powers-repeat x 4. My biggest peeve is I wanted even more for Cassi, one of my absolute favorite characters EVER. I hate that she kinda goes from being Malek's bitch to now Lyana's and Rafe's, 3/5 Ah the third book was a bit of a miss for me but still overall wonderful. My biggest peeve is I wanted even more for Cassi, one of my absolute favorite characters EVER. I hate that she kinda goes from being Malek's bitch to now Lyana's and Rafe's, it bothers me sooo much, I'm hoping there is even more liberation for her especially from her heart eyes for Lyana. I will say every chapter from Cassi's point of view is top notch, she's just so very interesting, I can't get enough. Rafe is still Rafe and very likable and heroic no complaints there, Lyana is really starting to fizzle for me, she is a bit too heart of gold, beloved and "special" for my tastes. Honestly I've been finding her a bit eyerolly which sucks because I loved her in the first book. I'm getting tired of hearing every character talk about how amazing she is, like she's cool but not that cool chill. Malek was the biggest flop in this series for me which makes me sad because I was hooked on him in the first book, I just don't think he was developed and the route with him wasn't what I was hoping for, I feel like he had such great potential as a true villain and he came out more as a whiny bitch boy. I also wished we got to see more of his relationship with Cassi, I believe that there was more there to explore and complications to understand between them and I'm upset we missed out on that. I will say that his SPOILER SPOILER final moments with Cassi had me crushed. His character deserved a better development IMO. I absolutely adored watching Xander become the leader we all know he is, his storyline is playing out beautifully and SPOILER the chapter where he is trapped in the tunnel with the owls is one of the best in the book. Also the fire that bursts from the pages when Xander and Cassi are together beats any dragon. LIKE OH MY GOD THE TENSION. It's so good. THEY ARE PERFECT TOGETHER. RANDOM SHIT: 'closing his eyes, as though somehow it made him less vulnerable, he murmured, "in my dreams, I touch you with two hands"' I read this sentence too many times for it to be normal OMG it was so hot and sweet and beautiful. XANDER I LOVE YOU "Your dreams have always been my favorites" okay so I did cry like a complete baby at this It really pissed me off that Brighty slapped Cassi. I still love how they talk about Lyana's hair/braids and beautiful dark skin. More of this forever and ever. I also really love how Rafe trusts Lyana, he gets that she's in charge and supports her. Anyway I don't have a hot clue who this blonde freckled chick is supposed to be! Can't wait for book four.

The Raven and the Dove series was so far one of my most favorite retellings thanks to its unique world-building and magical system. My expectations for the third book were high and I'm so happy that I can tell you that this book did not disappoint me because it has exactly what I wanted! The characters you love are back, so you can look forward to meeting Xander, Rafe, Lyanna, and Cassi again. It seems impossible how much these characters developed since the beginning of the series. The characters you love are back, so you can look forward to meeting Xander, Rafe, Lyanna, and Cassi again. It seems impossible how much these characters developed since the beginning of the series. Every single of them lived through a lot and this book reminded me a few times that it's only a beginning. And Malik? He's literally the perfect example of a character you'll love and hate at the same time. My feelings about him are mixed since the very beginning and it hadn't changed a bit. But even though it's not easy to admit it he's a very interesting character. With no doubt, he's got the biggest potential to develop from all of the characters. And there's another exciting thing! We finally got more of world-building and here I am, wanting it all! The world-building is one of the things I love about this series because it's so different from the settings you can usually see in young adult fantasies. If you love the theme of courts in ACOTAR, you simply should not miss the theme of Houses you can find in this book. I enjoyed learning more about other Houses so much, though House of Whispers still rules to my heart. Once again, I'm amazed by how easy to read is this author's writing style. Every time I had to take a pause while reading, I just wanted to crawl back and continue, because I needed to know what will happen next. The plot had quick and thrilling pacing most of the time, but you can also forward to some emotional and romance scenes that were pretty much needed by me. Yet, it's not enough. My insatiable heart needs more of them in the fourth book! Overall, The Dragon and the Queen left me with my mouth hanging and my heart beating. The ending was incredibly good and though there were some parts of the book I didn't enjoy that much, I am still impressed with how good this story is. If you're ready to be hooked by some gripping and original fantasy with great character development and very slow-burn romance, The Raven and the Dove series is waiting to be added to your TBR list! Thank you so much to author Kaitlyn Davis for providing an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book really surprised me! I was convinced that Lyanna and Rafe's story was going to be a trilogy, but the story definitely does not end here! Which absolutely excites me - I really love this world and the characters. Without giving too much away, here's what I loved. 1. CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! All across the board, the characters are really becoming complex and I am here for it! Cassi's arc is one of my favourites and I adore her no-nonsense attitude. She has really been set on the path to redemption. Xander has also grown immensely and I am so happy with the King he is becoming. Malek's little change of heart towards the end really touched me (but it was about time he saw reason, sheesh). 2. WORLD BUILDING. There's a diary from the past? The people lived in a different place? What's beyond the mountains?! I can't wait to find out more! The world building in this series has been quite slow, but I kind of like the mystery. Hopefully all will be revealed in the next book. 3. THE DIARY! Oh my gosh, I could not wait to get the diary chapters! Mira's story is so interesting and I loved the look into the past - we finally know how the rift was formed! And don't get me started on Zavier (swoon) - I definitely want to see more of him! Maybe that's not 100% plausible, as their story did seem to come to a close by telling us about the rift and the prophecy. BUT who is the blonde girl from the last chapter?! I'm sure Xander and Cassi will take it upon themselves to find her in the next installment. 4. SPACIO'KINE MAGIC. What, how did we not know about this? I guess it must be rare. But it makes sense that it will take a spacio'kine to close the rift. Just hoping Rafe and Lyanna can hold on long enough until the blonde girl can be found. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I need the next one ASAP! Hopefully we won't have too long to wait. Many thanks to the author for sending me an e-ARC to read and review.

I must applaud Kaitlyn Davis for achieving the tremendous feat of creating this series, with 3 amazing books so far. So let me start gushing about book 3. With an intriguing prologue that you don'ts know what it means exactly yet, but are sure it will play an important role in the book (I really like that the author does that), you are lost again in this fantastic world with just a few words. Also the diary entries add a new mysterious note to the story and we learn so much more about the history I must applaud Kaitlyn Davis for achieving the tremendous feat of creating this series, with 3 amazing books so far. Mesmerized again by the lives of these unforgettable characters, this installment quite ambitiously, presents the most POVs thus far. Each POv successfully represents the character with its own flair and substance. Showcasing the impossible situation each is caught up in, interchanging and moving the story along effortlessly and flowingly. Brighty continues to be one of my favorite characters. Heart-wrenching and glorious, a fountain of emotions erupts with the gorgeous writing. The figurative speech is lyrical in its descriptions, even poetic in instances. The different powers are depicted so well, created by all the senses, it's like you can actually see them. Containing action that is well elaborated, the author doles out the suspense in bucketloads, making you gobble up the pages even faster. With duty to others and to yourself tinging every thread, the narrative belongs to the belief in destiny and champions being who you are supposed to be. Epic, gasp-worthy and thrilling, with tentative alliances and explosive battles, you have been wanted of losing the ability to put this book down. This series just gets better and better and has long entered the pantheon of my favorite series.

It’s fast-paced and action-packed with wonderful vivid descriptions of the world. I had a little difficulty engaging with the plot, possibly due to the lack of romance and the ‘diary’ narrative was a bit of a thorn in my side, hindering my reading flow. However, there is no doubt the world building and character development is amazing. I enjoyed seeing Rafe coming to terms with his new appearance and magic and Xander steps up to the mark in his role as leader. Cassi has the most complex character arc by far, evolving from a loveable companion, to villain, but hopefully redeems herself. The first book will undeniably remain my favourite, the world felt fresh and new and I loved the blooming romance and wonderful banter between Rafe and Lyana. Romance in general was sadly lacking in this one, but that is just my personal preference. I was disappointed with the ending, however at the time I read it I thought this series was a trilogy. Therefore with lots of loose ends it definitely needs another book for closure and I’m counting on book four to bring everything together in an exiting conclusion. Thank you to Kaitlyn Davis for sending a review copy my way. TWISTED IN PAGES BLOG

Otherwise I am gonna be very mad.

I am so excited to be back in this world. Davis has created an incredible storyline with the historical and magical aspects to back it up. Initially I did struggle to get back into this read. I really would have preferred to have reread the first books before diving back in, but it didn't take long. We are following multiple POVs, but I care about the characters and switching between them eventually became effortless for me as the reader. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ STARS!! "I'd rather be called crazy than a coward." This book is phenomenal! The writing style, chiefs kiss. The characters, chiefs kiss. The plot, chiefs kiss. The journal entries from a character that lived a long time ago, CHIEFS KISS. The cover of the book, chiefs kiss. This is by far my favorite book in the series and after that cliff hanger, I can't wait to read the next and final book. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ STARS!! "I'd rather be called crazy than a coward." I don’t know. It’s fine. Just like the last one (whatever it was called), things picked up significantly in the last 25% or so. Before that it was just a lot of exposition. I won’t remember the plot or characters by the time the 4th book comes out next year… and honestly, with how this book ended I’m pretty pissed about the possible premise of the finale. But… I guess I’ll read it? Sure. Fine. Maybe. If I remember.

I won't even lie... I'm hurt. This ending ruined me and I don't think I can recover. If this is how book 3 made me feel, I can't imagine the pain I'm going to go through during the final book. I actually screamed in pure agony when I finished reading this, because what the heck did I just read? Anyways, I'm going to go lock myself in my room and cry now. So many twists and turns Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen next, something totally different happened. This story took so many twists and turns that I never knew what to expect. The characters were refreshingly honest and I just couldn’t put it down. This was my favorite of the three books and I loved how Ms. Davis built up every single character that I was invested in. Definitely a must read!

I mentioned in my previous reviews for the other two books that I appreciated the tangible growth that some of these characters go through. Lyana in particular, although she didn't go through any physical change like Rafe, truly blossoms as a character and comes into her own in The Dragon and the Queen. Davis really impressed me with this because it is rare that I change my opinions about a character in this way. In my opinion, this installment of the story had a great theme of forgiveness. I won't go into too much detail because spoilers, but there is quite a bit of redemption and apologies/absolution for past mistakes. These themes were written so beautifully that I never felt like it was being shoved into my face. I wished we got to see a little more of Brighty and even more of Malek. Malek in particular I could have done with more chapters from his perspective. As a character he is so misguided, attempting to accomplish his goal at the expense of others. I would have loved to explore more of how he thought his ends would justify the means. But that is very picky of me to say! I just love his character. The addition of the journal entry chapters were a good consolation for me, however. They were well placed within the story to drive the main plot and convey it's own side plot without distracting from the greater story. I could have read an entire book of just the journal chapters! Davis' writing is pleasant to read and easy to understand. Descriptions are colorful and not at all gratuitous, painting a lovely picture of characters, landscapes, etc. I'm also never left confused in the vast world she created. The magic system is explained nicely and makes sense. This has definitely been my favorite out of the three installments so far. I am excited for the conclusion! I was itching for this next chapter in Rafe and Lyanna’s story and it did not disappoint. Finally my babies can interact without barriers and defenses! I waited 2 books to get here! This book was everything. Everyone finally got to interact in some capacity! Lyanna remained steadfast and sure, leading and saving as she always does. I loved her growth. She acknowledged mistakes on her own part in some of the decisions she’s made and apologized for her actions. She was supportive and she was fair. She acknowledged mistakes on her own part in some of the decisions she’s made and apologized for her actions. She was supportive and she was fair. Her relationship with Rafe was everything. They still make my heart swoon with their love for each other and how desperately they want to be together. Unfortunately, duty calls so I was left wanting more. I just wanted scenes of them spending time together without the fate of the world at the forefront of their thoughts for just a little while. Is that too much to ask? *sigh Rafe was an absolute badass this book. He’s taken his biggest fear and turned it into something that aids and saves. Something to not hate. I loved the dragon mental link arc. So cool. He even got in a little vengeance and I was so happy about that. Rafe has been through too much! If foes wanna come after him, he’s meeting them head on. If foes wanna harm those he loves, he’s heroically (and sometimes stupidly) diving headfirst to save/defend them. *sigh, what a king. Xander became more comfortable in his role as king of a people with no home. People looked up to him, saw more in him. His chapters let us have a deeper insight to the floating isles and the birds who lead them. On a personal note, things were hashed out and I’m so glad he was able to forgive what was inevitable, even if it hurt him. I didn’t really like Xander last book but he was cool here. I love how much he loves Rafe and understands the type of person his brother is. They are two sides of the same coin. Cassi got her due in this book. Well deserved. I don’t hate her anymore, but…..I don’t know. She’s okay. Malek got his due too. *smiles in dragon/man halfbreed power trip* I actually started to like him towards the end. I was hurt. Brighty remains an all time fav for me. I love her and Rafe’s relationship so much. I don’t really know who I would say the older sibling is if I made that comparison butttttt…… probably Brighty. They are so cute. She’s protective over him, she loves him. I wanted more of them. I also wanted more crew moments! This is Rafe’s found family and I missed them having fun on the seas. This book only proved how much they care about each other and I loved it. The diary chapters were so cute. I loved Mira and Zavier. Their journey is both heartwarming and scary. I really enjoyed diving into the past and learning about how everything began. That ending? Wtf? Someone else?? I hope this means more romance in the last book! Wait, what if something sparks between Brighty and this new savior? That would be cuutteeeeee.

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying this series and always find that I can’t put it down. I still adore the concept of an avian society and would love to read spin-offs about all of the houses. I often have a soft spot for “side characters” and this is no different; I have really loved watching the relationship between Cassie and Xander unfold - they both have weaknesses and bring out each other’s strengths and I hope to see more of it in the next book. Yes! To my surprise there is another book. I tho I’ve been thoroughly enjoying this series and always find that I can’t put it down. Lyana let him retreat, because she knew, same as he, that though the stakes had changed and the players were different, the game remained the same. They were two souls on a crash course, ready to combust, but their collision might set the world aflame. Forget everything I ever said about this series because the whole game has changed. The Dragon and the Queen is my favorite book so far. The story just lands on the ground and never stops running. Or flying. The Dragon and the Queen is my favorite book so far. The story just lands on the ground and never stops running. Or flying. Or whatever metaphor works best here. I'm still in shock at that ending. After all the character development in book two, The Hunter and the Mage, we get see that development play out here. All the characters really come into their own. We finally learn some of this Universe's history and why things became they way they are. All the dots finally (mostly) connect. I've never thought I'd relate to anyone in this story but Brighty is my newest favorite character. They were a part of this, just as much as she was. Everything was connected. The isles. The rift. Their souls. It was a vast puzzle she was on the verge of solving.  Each book in The Raven and The Dove series is better than the last. I highly recommend the series for fans of Throne of Glass, Falling Kingdoms, and The New Mutants. It was a leap of faith, a belief in the prophecy and in herself, a trust that despite all her faults, she knew what she was doing. Love had always guided her—a love for adventure, a love for the world, a love for its people—and that love had led her here. The unknown was calling, and she had no choice but to answer.     ***Thank you to Kaitlyn Davis for sending me an arc. Quotes are subject to change. ***
