Hooked From the Start Yet again the super talented author Kyla Stone delivers another blockbuster of a series. I have only fairly recently discovered Kyla's work and am so delighted that I have. She has delivered a fantastic series in Nuclear Dawn, fast paced with a feisty, strong heroine in Dakota. Plenty of adventure with many twists and turns and unexpected events that you really don't see coming. The characters are believable and engaging with a little touch of romance added in. An amazing series which I'm so pleased I waited for the box set to be released as I hate waiting for the next book in a series if I'm really enjoying it. It was so worth the wait. Engrossing, well written, well researched, what more can I say other than buy it, you will not be disappointed. Thanks Kyla for another great series, can't wait for the next one.

Book #1 Point of Impact I truly enjoyed my journey with Dakota and Logan, et al... Dakota is tough young woman with a heart of gold, under her gruff exterior. She's practical, pragmatic, and fierce in her devotion to her sister, Eden, who was separated from Dakota in foster care. When the crap hits the fan she's more ready than most could be. When the crap hits the fan she's more ready than most could be. She's going to do whatever she needs to get to Eden's side. Logan, talk about a perfectly imperfect guy. He's got a rocky past to overcome to become the man he needs, and deep down wants, to be. IF he can pull his head out of his... bottle. Either Dakota and Logan will come together to save the day, OR they'll kill each other getting there. They're both harboring some deadly secrets that just might come back to bite them in the butt. The story, literally, begins with a bang, and they're off... the author drew me in right away, and the action is pretty much non-stop. All the characters, including the secondary ones, pull on your heartstrings. A mark of a gifted writer is when they can make you care about everyone. I read the 1st 3 books in a day. They are short, but the author manages to pack a lot into them. I can't wait for the 4th to come out! And, a warning, each ends on a cliffhanger! Book #2 Fear the Fallout And they keep getting better! Another non-stop action story. The pressure is on! The radiation is still at dangerous levels but Dakota can't wait any longer to get to her sister, Eden. Someone from their past is looking for them and Dakota has to get to Eden before Maddox does. We get more of Dakota and Eden's backstory as the author fills us in on why they're in hiding. We also get more information regarding Logan's past as well, and it's NOT what Dakota thinks! Maddox begins to get his story told and fills in some of the knowledge gaps as well. The world building is very well done and highlights just how UNprepared we all are should the unthinkable happen. Book #3 From the Ashes Dakota, Logan, Eden, Julio, and Shay just cannot catch a break! While this 3rd installment still has a lot of action, it does slow down a bit, which was actually needed. Everyone is ill from radiation poisoning, and/or injured from various fires, gang run-ins, hostage taking, etc... So, after a while, they all FINALLY get some much needed medical care, much needed government information, and can begin to plan their trek into the Everglades. I actually appreciated the, short breather the author gave the characters. No one can be on point constantly without some down time and these characters sorely needed the brief respite they got - that respite almost causes MORE problems for them, in the long run. NEVER trust a government run facilty to do it's best for the civilians, they simply won't. They'll do what's most convenient for the government. In any case, the race is STILL on. Dakota may have rescued Eden, but now it's a race to their safe house in the Everglades! Will they make it there before their pasts come back to haunt them? Book #4 Into the Fire Dakota, Logan, Eden, and Julio, are headed into the Everglades. Knowing Maddox, and other members from the Shepherd's of Mercy, will most likely be holding Ezra hostage. Will they make it in time, or will will Dakota lose the man she considers family? If he is alive, will Ezra welcome her and Eden back, or tell them to hit the road? This 4th book in the series is, pretty much, non-stop action. How can Dakota keep Eden, and herself safe? CAN she keep them safe? What about Logan and Julio? The Everglades may have been a safe zone from the fallout, but it's nowhere NEAR safe, as it's closer to the Shepherd's compound. With the fire power and trained militia from the compound, will Dakota be able to bring the others in the area to the table for safety's sake? The author tugs on your heartstrings in this one. Hard decisions have to be made, and Dakota isn't the only one who has to make them. This book will fire you up and make you want to kill some characters. It will make you cry and agonize over others, and be surprisingly proud of some you previously wondered about. Book#5 Darkest Night Kyla Stone has done it, again! Don't miss this awesome wrap up to the Nuclear Dawn series! This is book 5, and the final installment, unfortunately. I've fallen in love with these wonderfully fleshed out characters and am sad to see their stories end. Find out what happens when Dakota, Logan, and company, try to rescue their own, with some aid from Hawthorne and his team. Will they be able to bring down the Prophet once and for all? Will Eden ever be secure enough in herself to go against her brother Maddox, and the Prophet? And can Dakota and Logan prevent the Prophet from further destruction, without being destroyed themselves? This story is action packed and told in multiple POV from Dakota, Logan, Eden, Maddox, and Shay's perspectives. Kyla Stone does an excellent job and is very concise in this, where other authors may muddy the telling, she keeps each perspective clearly defined. This author really knows how to run a reader through a gamut of emotions. I smiled at tender moments between Dakota and Logan, raged with them, and Eden, as they all tried to bring down the Prophet, got sentimental when reading scenes between Hawthorne and Shay, and was emotionally blasted to smithereens in the last few chapters. Read this. You will not be sorry, though you may require a glass of wine, some chocolate, and a box of tissues. I was gifted an ARC in return for an honest review. And this story is truly a gift!

Following a catastrophic nuclear attack which targeted 13 major cities, millions are wiped out in an instant while others are left to deal with the after effects of radiation poisoning. Troubled teen, Dakota Sloane has been working in a bar in Miami, trying to save enough money to get her younger sister Eden, out of foster care. Two years ago, they escaped the Everglades from a cult called the Shepherds of Mercy, which is run by the fanatic Solomon Cage. Dakota has changed her name and stayed incognito since. Minutes before the attack, Dakota spots Maddox Cage, the cult leader’s son, getting into a taxi through her bar window. Realising he’s tracked down Eden’s whereabouts, Dakota decides to up her plans to leave with Eden sooner than she had anticipated. As different cities come under attack on the news bulletin, Dakota comes to a horrifying realisation and is able to text Eden seconds before a blinding light flashes and Miami also succumbs to an attack. Following the blast, Dakota and a few survivors from the bar seek refuge in a movie theatre as they wait for the radiation levels to drop. The survivors include Julio, the bar owner, Shay who has some medical experience and Logan Garcia, a loner, haunted by his past who seeks solace in a bottle. Forty eight hours later, Dakota’s anxiety for Eden has worsened as she suspects that Maddox may have survived and will possibly head out for her sister. Sensing that he can handle himself with a gun, she makes a deal with Logan; access to a secure safe haven deep in the Everglades in return for accompanying her while she rescues her sister. Logan agrees. With Julio and Shay also insisting on going her, the group set out on a journey through wasteland that is fraught with danger not only from radiation but from aspects of humanity itself. As the books progress we learn that the Shepherds of Mercy have been behind the attacks all along. Can Dakota save her sister and prevent another catastrophic attack on US soil? This boxset consists of all five books in what has been a tense and exciting post apocalyptic survival series. Each instalment is told from five points of view; Dakota, Eden, Logan, Maddox and Shay. From the offset, I found myself totally immersed in the premise of the story. The impact on survivors from a nuclear explosion where knowledge and survival skills could be the only thing standing between life and death? Luckily our group has Dakota, who thanks to her mentor Ezra, has been taught survivalist skills. The strength of the book lies in the fascinating world building that the author has managed to create. It’s apparent throughout that the author has done a lot of research which sets it apart from other novels of similar themes. The characters were quickly introduced, developed and understood. Dakota, Eden and Logan are troubled protagonists, each with a dark past which is only hinted at in this instalment. We learn that Dakota and Eden were sent to a religious compound by their Aunt, following the death of their parents. They escaped and sought refuge with Ezra, a hermit who lived in the Everglades. While Dakota is tough, resilient and a survivor mainly because she’s HAD to be, Logan chooses to drown his demons in a bottle. Eden, despite being alone and hearing impaired, handles her situation admirably for a fifteen year old. Her faith in her sister, unshakable. The secondary characters were equally appealing. Ezra, Julio, Shay, Park and Hawthorne came across as decent, caring people. Unfortunately when society breaks down, it brings out the worst of humanity too and our group are exposed to its good and bad aspects. All in all, the author has delivered an intriguing well executed, gritty edge of your seat box set. The plot moves along fluidly and while certain scenes crackled with tension, others genuinely tugged at my heartstrings. This has been a fantastical multi layered journey of self discovery, powered by adept character development, relentless pacing and building to a climax that is neat and satisfying. I’ll definitely be looking out for future works from the author. Trigger warnings, religious cult, patriarchal societies, physical and mental abuse, child marriages, torture, gang related violence.

Heart wrenching in more ways than one Kyla Stone is an artist who uses words rather than paints to create an amazing story like a huge mural! The storyline is gut wrenching but filled with amazing characters who rise to the occasion over and over again. It’s very hard to write one review for 5 books... there’s so much to tell. The evil ones are despicable and yet Maddox Cage comes forth as a complex person who needs redemption in the end. Dakota and Logan grow on you as they grow on each other. Kyla Stone’s Nuclear Dawn series is addicting. She has woven a cast of characters with very real human flaws and failings all trying to survive a nuclear attack on America. Ms. Stone has packed this story with very believable scenarios and action. While reading this series on one level I realize it is fiction, but the scenarios the characters encounter leave me wondering how long it would take for residents of a city to devolve into a dog-eat-dog mentality after some apocalyptic event. Exciting Read I really liked the characters especially Dakota and Logan. Both flawed and vulnerable. I enjoyed the way they worked through their vulnerability and came through on the other side by the time the book ended. I would have enjoyed more mention of their romance but that is just me. A horrifying story of what could happen in the event someone wanted to disrupt the U.S. and create havoc opening an opportunity for a take over of our government. Lovable, flawed characters By making the main characters imperfect human beings, Ms Stone has created a realistic and terrifying story. It would be difficult not to love Dakota, Eden and Logan. Great apocalyptic reading I loved this post apocalyptic series. It was sad to have it come to an end. Although there’s violence it’s not extreme for the genre. The characters are interesting and relatable and very memorable. The storyline is scary and it’s possibility terrifying. There’s no explicit sex and the love stories feel genuine. You’ll get involved with and love the characters as much as I did and hate to say goodbye in the end.

WOW The most impressive series of books I've read in years, of any genre. Chilling but exciting story, all the more so because of it's believability. Will miss the characters: Dakota, Logan, Julio, Shay, even conflicted Maddox, for a long time. Actually, every character was fully developed no matter how short their part. The action, the setting, even the weather, kept me hooked throughout. Thank you Kyla Stone for a thoroughly enjoyable read. WOW The most impressive series of books I've read in years, of any genre. An awesome book that you will not easily be able to put down it’s a good thing it’s in a box set. I would recommend this book to those who like a good what if story as I do. This kept me on the edge of my seat and I could not easily put it down. It is a good thing I got the box series. I would have hated to wait for the next book to come in if I had gotten them individually. This writer writes a good story. I will read more of her books.

Great series The series kept me engaged for the most part. I gave this a four star rating because personally I felt like there was too much action and not enough time spent getting to know the characters. I felt it needed just a bit more depth. However if you love action non stop then this is a series for you! However, even though I felt there lacked a bit of depth I just downloaded the authors next series.

Absolutely awesome series I love this writer I don’t want to give anything away so I wouldn’t give a synopsis of it you have to read them yourself but if you like apocalyptic stories that has a great story line amazing characters some you’ll love some you’ll hate some will change mind. Set some time aside for this series because you won’t want to set it down.

There wasn't any grammatical errors or typos either (that I noticed) and I was so pleasantly surprised; most of the books I read on here have tons. I was drawn in by the setting, since I live in Miami, but the storyline and the great characters kept me reading the five book series! Outstanding Read! The story is believable and captivating. The characters are so well developed that I feel like I got to know them personally. There is never a dull moment. I read the series straight through and the only issue I had was a lack of sleep some nights because I couldn't put it down! I will definitely be reading more of Kyla Stone's works! Outstanding Read! Great set of survival Usually only give one review per series because that's how I read. I love to get enveloped in the lives of the characters. I've read three of your series and loved them all. I think this one is the best. Can't wait until the next one comes out. I'm not real good at being patiently waiting for the next in a series. So write fast. 😀 Great set of survival Usually only give one review per series because that's how I read. I love to get enveloped in the lives of the characters. Great story It's all about the story...I can overlook some technical details about the terminology and use of weapons because of the story and character development. Very good read. Nuclear Dawn Great story! I loved how Dakota was so brave even when she was afraid. I cried at the end, but don't let that stop you from reading this series. Wow!!! I could not stop reading this! Went through all five books in as many days. The writing was good and the story absolutely engrossing. You get to know the characters and enjoy how they grow. Don't want too say much and ruin it but I gave.it five Stratford a reason!!! Wow!!! I could not stop reading this! Great book! I am now a fan! This is possibly the best book in this series. Extremely hard to let the characters go, and to me that says it all about a book. This series never lets up , the suspense stays high. Great read.
