This is more what I what I was hoping for with this series. Small, contained stories involving two different stars teaming up unexpectedly. Scott Kolins takes over the art chores and its good work. The coloring is off at times but but the overall work was solid. I enjoyed this Boston Brand and loved the interaction between Superman and Catwoman. The book was too short but its worth a read.

Some weak filler-styled one-shots with DC team-ups, plus some extra padding with older, self-contained stories. Nothing here is up to much, but Superman hearing an unlikely character declare (equally unlikely) hots for him with his supersenses raises a grin.

Even though there isn't any George Perez art in this volume and it contains some older stories, this is worth 5 stars just for the Batman/Jay Garrick team up and the Superman/Catwoman team up. The rest of this tutorials are worth your time as well. Sad that there isn't more of this series with Mark Waid at the helm. Though Waid's writing continues to be strong, none of his stories in this volume are particularly notable. It looks like he was out of ideas, and it's just as well he was finishing up his run. The best story in this book is actually the reprint by Alan Brennert concerning Hawk & Dove (although it looks to no longer to be in continuity because of the aging of the twain). The previous two Brave & Bold books at least had some kind of overarching plot. This one is very disjointed, the stories are sometimes non-sensical. That on top of the general cardboardy-ness of the characters & plot pushed this to the "don't like" bin. The previous two Brave & Bold books at least had some kind of overarching plot. Really good ending to Mark Waid's run on this title. I liked how there were some of his previous stories added in along with a story that inspired him. The arc of the first few issues and the reprint filler probably would have earned this book a two-star rating, but I loved the Superman/Catwoman story so much that I'm adding an extra star. This book series is such a complete joy to read, that I can't wait for the next edition to come out. This book series is such a complete joy to read, that I can't wait for the next edition to come out.

Loved the Batman/Flash story and the Superman/Catwoman one. The Nightwing/Green Arrow/Deadman story was okay, but weak in comparison to all the other brilliant stuff Waid did on this series.
