So I read Wolf Bound by this author and it felt like a werewolf version of Twilight. Now I’m 10% into this and it’s literally another version of Twilight.... 🤔 I’ll continue reading to see if there’s something original here but I’m disappointed that it starts with a girl moving to a rainy town, a family that eats lunch and rules the school together..... see? Sound familiar? I’ve gotten to like 63% and I’m about to DNF. There’s so much back and forth and things just aren’t logical. Lily is magical So I read Wolf Bound by this author and it felt like a werewolf version of Twilight. Riley thinks Olivia is gods gift to the world? And the true bloods can’t use their heightened senses to figure out Olivia is following them? And of course, it’s time to trust this rando stranger in town who you just met. Ugh. 🙄 I just don’t get things like this and it all stays on the surface so you don’t even get anything more to add any depth. I’ve just decided to skim the rest (second book of hers that I’ve done this with) just so I can be done. I’m still trying to skim through the last 20% but it’s a struggle. “I’m betting the quieter we are, the better.” said in reference to breaking into a house. You think?!?! I honestly don’t know how to verbalize the incessant eye rolling at things like that. Even if it’s for a younger audience, still....

Star crossed love What would have happened if Romeo and Juliet were vampires? I think their story would be a bit like Nightside. Two teens in love that come from feuding families devise a plan to be together and defy the conventions forced upon them by birth. Perhaps I’m being a bit grandiose with the comparison but I think it fits. You might also get a bit of a Twilight feel but while I love the Twilight books they had a bit too much over the top angst which Nightside is happily missing. Olivia deals with her world being turned upside with a good deal of maturity for her age. Lots of ups and downs, twists and turns plus a really big shock close to the end but Olivia and Riley stay true to each other and their desire to be together. An enjoyable read with a good foundation for the next book. I an ARC of this book for free from the author. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.

A new spin on Vampires. You have Truebloods, the typical Vampire and Nightsides a mutation Vampire. After Olivia’s father up and leaves her and her mother in the middle of the night with no explanation they pack up and leave Chicago for Moon Peak, Oregon. The first night at the new house Olivia takes a walk on the beach and is stalked by 3 rough looking men. A boy around her age appears and the men leave. A unique take on Vampires and the characters are interesting. I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to finding out more about these characters.

I love Holly Hook’s writing, and you can see why with stories like Nightside (The Forgotten Vampires, Book 1). Olivia and Riley’s story, Truebloods vs Nightsides, is Romeo & Juliet on massive steroids. It’s also delicious fun that’s a total gas to read. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Nightside is the first book in this new serie by Holly Hook. Always love this author stories, this one no different. The story is two teenagers that fall in love, Olivia and Rileys, but can't be together. Its a Romeo and Juliet kind of storie but with vampires, Trueblood and Nightside. Can't wait for the next book in this serie. Nightside is the first book in this new serie by Holly Hook. Always love this author stories, this one no different. I enjoyed this book very much. I was a little slow in the beginning getting into it, but it just seem to pull me in after a few chapters and I loved the story and this new twist for vampires. I hope the series continues!

Night Shade (The Forgotten Vampires Book One) This was a cute book with a lot of action going on.i realize this was written with a younger audience in mind to read it but I did find it to be a good story, just a little too immature for my taste.

This book is another example of Holly Hooks amazing writing. Watching Riley and Olivia trying to make a relationship work with so much to keep them apart is nailbiting. A true romeo and juliet type story

A different side to teen romance. Could be Romeo and Juliette. Cute and well worth the read.

ARC received. This is a different take on vampires. In this new series, there are Truebloods & Nightsides. Olivia ends up in a small town called Moon’s Peak after her father leaves. She finds out very quickly that this little town is much more dangerous to her than Chicago ever was. Without spoiling the book, Olivia gets more than her fair share of surprises & I’m anxious to find out what happens next.
