Primrose's curse is a book written primarily by a little girl- so when you pick this book up it may remind you of your childhood when you read fairy tales, and wished to write one. Kiara Shankar amazes me with her novel, and I find it inspiring that a child is writing so well! Despite being aided in her endeavour by her father, the primary work of the book is by her and I cheer her efforts which are quite successful for her age. The plot itself reads like an amalgamation of two of my favourite Children's Classics - Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz and I am sure the little author has also read these books. Primrose Fernetise is a beautiful 12 year old who works tediously to support her family in the absence of her mother. When her father suffers a stroke, she goes out in the quest for a divine flower that will cure his paralysis - and thus begins the magical story with the woodland animals. Primrose is hardworking, compassionate and brave, but also sarcastic and sceptical at parts which makes her character's traits more convincing. When she engages in the quest to defeat the evil queen of Hellevue Island, I am surprised by how easily the speaking animals convince her. A critical eye would doubt this, but a child might not- which is why I feel the book is more suited for kids. The following part almost feels like Alice falling into the hole : "The moment she touched the stem of the flower, her body felt an experience like she was on top of the world filled with overwhelming ecstasy." And I love the references to Hedwig, Munchkins, etc. The plot lacks originality as it's built on several existing tropes - but it definitely is a perfect version of reimagination and retelling genres. I can't wait for what Kiara Shankar writes as she Grows up!

I think to read a children's book you don't need any particular age. You will enjoy whenever you will read it. This was such a magical read. How they reach the island where the evil sorceress was and how they won over evil, was soo magical to read. Can't wait for the other book now.

Story of the book- This story is about a twelve year old girl Primrose Fernetise who lived in a small wooden cottage in a large dense forest in Amiablevue. Her family consisted of her older brother Stanley, Ginger – their horse and her father, primrose’s mother died while fighting a sickness for a long time. They had financial difficulties as her father suffered a stroke which caused paralysis on both of his legs. So, the children were on their own to run the house and continue their lives. One d Story of the book- This story is about a twelve year old girl Primrose Fernetise who lived in a small wooden cottage in a large dense forest in Amiablevue. They had financial difficulties as her father suffered a stroke which caused paralysis on both of his legs. So, the children were on their own to run the house and continue their lives. One day, while taking care of her father, Primrose promised him to bring the nectar of a divine flower from the forest which would cure her father’s disease. Her father was really happy as she, being a small child, cared for everyone in the family. So, Primrose started her journey to get the nectar of the divine flower where she gets to meet some of the weirdest creatures and her life takes a new turn. Will Primrose be able to cure her father and return back from the forest? Read the book to know more. My Review- Like any other fairy tale, this tale also starts with “Once upon a time” and ends with “happily ever after”. The story of the book is kinda good and definitely good for children. We get to learn love, care and the value of friendship and bravery in the book. However, the writing style was kinda poor and the author needs improvement in narration as well. Also there well some grammatical mistakes like ‘ We’ll tell you the whole entire story.’ Also, since the book is for children, there are some unnecessary use of hard words. When a child is reading a book, we cannot expect him/her to sit along with a dictionary to read a fairy tale. So, it would be better if the authors write in more simpler language as the major audience of this book is gonna be children. My favourite character in the story was Hedwig: the owl because he is the only one in the book who seemed to be matured. He teaches us how to stay calm in difficult situations and how duty is more important than leisure. However, the illustrations shown in the book are beautiful in the book and very similar to the descriptions. They make the reading faster as the illustrations are present in every chapter. The book is a short read and can be completed within an hour. I recommend this book to children who have good vocabulary or can sit with a dictionary to read the book. Cover of the book- The cover of the book represents a illustration of Primrose and the woodland animals which is very beautiful. The title of the book is also related to the story. Rating of the book- 3⭐/5⭐ Rating of the cover- 3.5⭐/5⭐

This group of woodland animals needed Primrose's help in defeating the evil an evil sorcereress who was hell-bent on taking all the magical powers of woodland animals and wiping out humanity from the face of the earth. That's when Primrose realized that she was destined to save the world. Thus her journey began. Throughout this whole adventure, we got to meet many character who had important role to play. Everyone wanted the evil sorcereress /queen be gone for good, they can live without an ouch of fear. But this journey was filled of obstacles and difficulties which they overcome by showing courage. Can Primrose along with her friends save the world? Will the good be victorious over bad? This book was absolutely magical. The imagery and the story itself was utterly lively. I am completely blown away with the vivid imagination. There were colourful illustrations which were adorable. Children books are supposed to be innovative and at the same time must rely some good moral. They should know that good deeds are always respected and no power can shadow an evil doing forever. Primrose's Curse taught exactly the same thing showing that virtues such as sympathy, helpfulness, hope and kindness would go a long way in making a world a better place to live.

This is a very misleading book. The story started out well and good with the characters on a positive note. However after a few pages, there's a sudden change in the character of the main character and the story took an unexpected turn. The myriad characters involved and described may be a little difficult to grasp by the target audience. However, I would have loved it (considering the target audience age group to be of below 12 years) if the character didn't change her sweet, loving and caring behaviour. However, as the book goes on the story unfolds regarding her mother and herself. I cannot help comparing it with Alice in Wonderland regarding the story flow and the illustrations. I wonder how come a 12 year old character can be so sarcastic, judging and impatient. Maybe unexpected too much from a fairy tale like story. The tale is dark and twisted. It starts out sad. And Primrose is on a quest to find a magic flower nectar to heal her ailing father. The animals in the forest are there to help her...but she behaves indifferently and I am not able to like her character much throughout. Ok, she has been described as 'audacious' but I so wanted to like her. Yes. These are my thoughts on the first few pages of the book. Then the actual quest began. The events that follow are many and many other myriad characters get introduced. Then the real adventure begins with attending a royal marriage, rocky boat rides, actually invading a sorceress' land and using magic spells saving the world from getting doomed! And yes, like it happens in fairytales, the story ends with a happy ending. The illustrations are average; the cover looks okay but it looks like more of a book cover of a picture book but yes, in sync with the contents; the font size just perfect. Hope the sequel does better! But no, I won't be picking up any books by this author. Nothing about this book is genuine.

Primrose's Curse is a fairy tale of an audacious girl named Primrose and her journey with the mystical woodland animals to vanquish the evil sorceress Queen Evelyn Velecrona and the curse that she has cast on humanity. The fact that the story came from a middle schooler has really impressed me. The writing is very good. The book contains beautiful illustrations. I recommend this book to kids as well as adults who like reading fairy tales.

Can Primrose along with her friends save the world? Read the book to unfold the mystery. My review: After many days, I got a chance to read on a children’s fiction. There is some magic in reading a children’s book. The main thing is that it lets you escape reality and makes you travel in time into the glorious childhood days. I felt the same while reading little Kiara's this magical journey. The new nomenclature used in naming the characters and places is very unique. There are some places where my mouth watered reading about various food items mentioned. Last but not least, to add more color to the story, there are cute illustrations of certain scenes that made the read really enjoyable. Characters: All the characters in the story are written in a very fascinating manner. The readers who are interested in reading the anime genre of books will relate more to the characters. Narration: A very engaging narration is found in the story. As the book is just about 144 pages, with its interesting narration the book is a definite page-turner. The world of a twelve year old is purely described with the same innocence. What I like about Primrose is that even being a twelve year old, she doesn't blindly believe what they say.

The story is about Primrose's journey to make the land free from the worse, the evil. She and her woodland friends saving the planet from the curse. The plot and theme were exciting and adventerous for a person of even my age and above can enjoy. Plus the language and syntax is very direct. The cover is absolutely attractive and the book is also included with beautiful pictures and illustrations! Of course a perfect gift to young children, or even teens. Would give it a 4 star and more power to the young authoress for writing more and achieving more!

I wont talk about the plot much as I'm afraid I'll give something away but I will say that's its been a while since I've read a children's book about adventure and a girl who seeks to vanquish the source of all evil. It filled me with nostalgia. The writing style was good and I enjoyed reading about all the characters. The graphics were beautiful to look at and made the experience even better. The narration could have been a little better and there were some weak points but I was too nostalgic to care about the distractions.

Beautiful illustrations are interspersed in between the chapters bringing the story to life. Every fairy tale has a moral, and this one teaches us empathy towards elders, sacrifice in times of need, kindness and courage. The vocabulary used to describe the surroundings, the food, emotions and feelings are vivid and engrossing. This book transported me into my childhood when I started my reading journey with beautiful fairy tales which fired my imagination. Kudos to Kiara Shankar, and I hope we get to read many more of her creations.

As a primary school going kid, I never liked reading Fairy tales. I don’t exactly remember why. Maybe I was too lazy to read and imagine things. She sets out on a long journey to find some magical herbs for her ailing father and embarks on a longer mission to save humanity after she encounters her magical woodland friends. The narration of the story is beautiful and kept simple. I liked how Primrose’s journey is imagined all throughout. The plot is very meaningful. Defeating evil forces and saving humanity. The theme sounds deep but the perspectives of a young author makes it very simple. Kindness, coexistence of humans and animals peacefully, sharing, caring, choosing good over evil are some of the beautiful lessons that the story emphasises on. The illustrations after every few pages will help young readers relate to the scenes. Please read out the story to your kids, niece/nephew or any young kid you know. I’m sure this book will help you travel back in time and relive your childhood again. Listening to the audiobook was equally wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would like to appreciate the voice artist for such a beautiful and clear narration 😮 If you simply keep your eyes shut and listen to how the story progresses, you will live through the entire journey with PRIMROSE, just like I did. At times, I would just pause for a while and wonder how brave the young author must be to imagine such a difficult journey. She also seems to be have an independent thought process. I liked the idea of Primrose courageously heading towards Hellevue to defeat the evil sorceress without the help of a Prince unlike other fairy tales. She didn’t look back to bring her brother Stanley either after she had an encounter with the woodland animals😮. So brave that is. Can’t wait to read the next in the series. I’m sure Kiara and her Dad already imagined how Primrose will use her extraordinary magical powers towards the cause of humanity again. My best wishes to the young debutant. ♥️♥️♥️

Surprisingly, they could talk and they all knew about her and why she was headed to the forest. She was given with a huge duty to help them save the humans and animals from the evil. For that Primrose was given a help of a Plant, after which she was named, to gain mystical powers. At the beginning, she was a bit hesitant to believe them or act as they say, but when they gave her a detailed information regarding what and why they need her help, she was convinced. They promise her that if the evil is defeated, the world will be a better place, and her father will be cured and they'll try to get back her deceased mother. In short it is a story of a twelve year old girl, who tries to save the world for her father's recovery and for all the ones suffering. At the beginning, it gave me an' Alice in wonderland' kind of feel. The words used are careful and transparent. The details of every single thing makes the read more easier and more precise. This book gave me some strong nostalgic feeling. The world of a twelve year old is purely described with the same innocence. What I like about Primrose is that even being a twelve year old, she doesn't blindly believe what they say. Overall a wonderful adventurous read.
