Cord attempts to leave Elaine behind, but she ends up thwarting him and her father when they try to take off in the hot-air-balloon by jumping from the back of her horse and hanging on to the side of the basket. Elaine's father had taught her how to fight and shoot after he'd saved her virtue from a couple of men years before, thus she feels that she is capable of being more help than a hindrance to their cause.

Wow, I really enjoyed this book and all the others I have read of yours. Always full of action and suspense and I love the way you manage to combine romance, science, nature and a Godley message into a Western. At one stage I really thought that we were going to miss out on a HEA, very glad you managed to bring us out of peril to that end. Really great character development on all the role players. I liked them all especially Cord. Superb plot, it gripped me right from the beginning to the end. Wow, I really enjoyed this book and all the others I have read of yours. There is blood letting but no graphic intimacy. Very well done!

Good read I chose 4 stars rating because of a couple of things I noticed. First, at one point Cord as getting ready for his balloon flight and he donned a flight jacket. I really kind of doubt that there was such a jacket during this time period. The other thing as that Cord was called Colt a couple of times by mistake I'm sure. Whether editor printer or author I couldn't tell you. But a good enough read I would recommend it to my friends who like western novels. The action starts in the first chapter! The action doesn't stop! It makes for an action packed page turner. The characters are fantastic..... the good guys and the bad guys. I like how we get to know each of the characters. Where their mind is and why they do what they do. Their perspective on what's going on. The action starts in the first chapter!
