“My name is Cassidy Blake...and I will not be dragged into the dark.” What a great series this has been! Loved this conclusion to the Cassidy Blake trilogy! (Or is it the conclusion???) This time around Cass and Jacob find themselves in New Orleans while travelling with her parents and their ghost hunting TV show. I’ve always wanted to visit New Orleans and this book made me want to visit even more! I’m so invested in the characters and I loved that we learned more about Cass’ abilities and how “My name is Cassidy Blake...and I will not be dragged into the dark.” What a great series this has been! “Fear is a perfectly rational response, the body’s way of telling you not to do something.” This is probably my least favourite in the Cassidy Blake series. I still really liekd it, but it just wasn't as strong as the other two. Cassidy Blake has been to Edinburgh and Paris now and had two unfortunate encounters in both. Now she is in New Orleans, a city which wears all of its hauntings on its sleeve. In this city full of tours and tombs, raucous music and all kinds of magic, Cass could get lost “Fear is a perfectly rational response, the body’s way of telling you not to do something.” This is probably my least favourite in the Cassidy Blake series. I still really liekd it, but it just wasn't as strong as the other two. Cassidy Blake has been to Edinburgh and Paris now and had two unfortunate encounters in both. Now she is in New Orleans, a city which wears all of its hauntings on its sleeve. In this city full of tours and tombs, raucous music and all kinds of magic, Cass could get lost in all the legends, but soemhow she manages to attract a foe more dangerous than anything she's faced before: a servant of Death itself. “But history is written by the victors. How can we know what really happened if we weren’t there? We are, all of us, speculating…” I really liked the plot of this one. It was just as fun as the others and of course in Victoria Schwab's dark style. This being a middle grade is of course considerable lighter than her older works, but considering our main character is a girl who can see ghosts and not all of them are friendly, this book is dark nonetheless. From page one I couldn't seem to put the book down. I love Cassidy and I love following her around along with Jacob, her ghost friend, and the other characters we meet along the way. “Friends don't let friends get snatched away by creepy skeletons.” The characters are probably the best part of this book, aside from the atmosphere. Cassidy is an amazing protagonist, even though she should start thinking the decision that she makes better, but don't worry she has friends that could help her with that. I love the fact that Jacob is there for her no matter what. He never leaves her alone and does everyhting in his power to help her with whatever trouble she put herself into. He does his best to convince Cass not to make any rash decisions, bu that doesn't usually work out. And then we also have Lara. Cassidy met her during her trip in Edinburgh and since then they remained friends. She had a small role in the second book too, but I'm happy than in this one she was back and tehre to help Cass. Out of the three books in this series, this is the one she was most present in and I was there for it. I love the friendship between Cassidy and Lara and also the one between Lara and Jacob although neither of the would admit to being friends I honestly have no idea if there will be more books in this series, but I really hope there are as I lvoe the characters and I just have so much fun with these books. And reading these I'm also taking a break from the hard hitting fantasy novels I tend to read. Overall this was an enjoyable read as always with Victoria Schwab's books and I really hope to be back in this world in the future. “Death will come for us again, one way or another. We can't live in fear of it. That's no way to live at all.” __________________________________ This wasn't exactly as good as the other two, but I still really liked it. RTC

Very binge-able, immersive writing with wholesome friendships and the perfect amount of ~spooky~ for a middle grade series. I was both excited and terrified to read this book. Excited because I’m invested in this series now and I couldn’t wait to see how it all ended. Terrified because I’ve become so invested in this series and these characters and I want nothing but good for my precious babies. I’m glad to say that it was everything I could have hoped for and more as an ending to what’s become a new favourite middle grade series. It had it all; it made me laugh and sob and want to throw the book across the room and I was both excited and terrified to read this book. “Life!’ says Mom. ‘Death!’ she adds. ‘And everything in between.” ☆゜・。。・゜゜・。。・゜★ I don't think I've ever read a book so fast. I read Bridge of Souls in just one day, and I couldn't stop reading. It is, without a doubt, the best book of the trilogy, and it closes perfectly this wonderful series that will surely attract many children to reading. Despite being a middle-grade book, both the plot and the characters have an incredible development, and this book brings together all the elements that the fans of this series love. Mysteries, ghosts and many other elements come together in Bridge of Souls to make it the perfect ending to one of my favorite series. In Bridge of Souls we find that Cassidy, her best ghost friend Jacob and her parents are now in New Orleans, one of the most haunted cities in the world, characterized by its stories of voodoo, vampires and ghosts. When Cassidy, after seeing a skull-faced stranger watching her at the Metro station in Paris, sees him here again, and realizes that someone (Or something ) is chasing her, and it can even be death itself. Bridge of Souls becomes one of my favorite books because of the wonderful story it tells us. Because it has a lot of beautiful quotes that lead you to various interesting reflections, such as the significance of being alive, the meaning of life, true friendship, the importance of time and the unpredictability of the future. In Bridge of Souls several elements are conveyed that fans of paranormal culture will love. There is ghost stories, assassins, secret societies, VooDoo, the Tarot and many other things. It shows us the borders of the world that Schwab created in City of Ghosts on life, death, and everything in between. The characters and their evolution in Bridge of Souls is spectacular. We see a Cassidy with a lot of learning from her last two experiences. She is no longer the innocent girl we met in City of Ghosts , but a mature version of it, without losing her essence. Her ability with the paranormal has also grown, to the point of almost perfect control of the Veil. Jacob is still my favorite character. He brings comedy to the book, and he made me cry more than once throughout the trilogy. How little by little we get to know him together with Cassidy and we find that faithful and unconditional friend that we all would like to have is fascinating. Lara also manages to enchant us with her British accent and her great charisma. After her absence in Tunnel of Bones an intelligent Lara returns, who has moments of fragility and shows her defects. I stand by what I said in the Tunnel of Bones review: This saga is on the level of Harry Potter (And I loved the book because it has so many references to that series) in the way that we can see grow the characters, and will surely accompany many children on their reading path. Victoria Schwab enchants adults and children alike with unrivaled prose and intriguing and fantastic stories. I'm not going to go into much detail until the spoiler section, but I do want to say: Please read the Cassidy Blake series! You’re are missing out on exciting adventures, which lead you to reflections on life, death, friendship, and togetherness. SPOILERS: (view spoiler)[ The plot of Bridge of Souls is undoubtedly the most mature of the three. A Cassidy who is chased by Death (literally) and who has a lot to learn from people like her in order to escape it. It's amazing how Victoria manages to connect us with the characters in such intimate ways, to the point that I CRIED six hundred thousand times throughout the book. How Lara became an in-betweener is one of the most emotional scenes of the series. To no one's surprise, I cried a lot. Get us to connect and know the character of Lara and above all, love her much more. When I started the book and with the Tarot reading, I thought that, in the end, Cassidy was going to send Jacob to the afterlife, BUT NO! I was 100% prepared to cry, but luckily that didn't happen, because if it did, I would still be crying in my bed and I wasn't writing this review. Bridge of Souls is undoubtedly an incredible book, which I hope many other people will read. (hide spoiler)] With dazzling prose, a mysterious plot and charming characters, Bridge of Souls becomes my favorite book in the series, one that I hope many others will read. Regardless of ages, I hope that the Cassidy Blake series will enchant readers for many years to come, because these characters will stay in your heart just as they will stay in mine forever. MontFort says bye. “Life!’ says Mom. ‘Death!’ she adds. ‘And everything in between.” ☆゜・。。・゜゜・。。・゜★

The fact that Jacob, a ghost, can escape Death and be friends with a living girl undermines the underlying theme of the story: no matter how fast you run, Death always catches up to bring you to the dark. I liked this book, but the ending kinda made it feel like Schwab threw in the towel.

So I have been to most of the places included in this book when my husband and I visited New Orleans several years ago, which really brought an extra level of experience while reading. I know these places, roamed them, heard scary stories and history while there, and with that extra something something I was *in* this story. I could see it so well. Schwab incorporated them so well, and this is a fantastic continuation of the Cassidy Blake series. The stakes are higher than ever.

I’m so sad this is the end (for now)! This has been such a fun series. Cassidy and Jacob’s friendship is the absolute best and I love reading about their adventures in spooky cities. This was no different. I’m hopeful that there will be more books in this series, even though this serves as a nice ending, because I feel like there are so many more places we could explore!

I read the first two books in the Cassidy Blake series in December, and I immediately fell in love with the amazing characters, the adventurous plot, and the beautiful writing style that spawns from all V.E. Schwab books. Characters. Well, honestly. Jacob is just everything for me in this entire series. He is just a sweet boy who deserves so much more, and he provides all of the grief and the comedic relief in this trilogy. I loved learning about him in the previous book in the series, and I have to say I was a tad bit disappointed that we didn't see more from him in this book. BUT the other main characters' (Lara and Cassidy) development and significance in this book made up for it. I loved how Victoria wrote Cassidy's PTSD into this novel without being like: "I'm Cassidy Blake, and by the way, I suffer from anxiety and PTSD." Shockingly enough, I think authors struggle with that more than they should, at least in YA. But, V.E. Schwab is too good for all those other author's mistakes. Am I biased? Maybe. Anyways, I kinda hated Lara in the other two books, but I loved her in this book. She got a lot of needed character development in this book that made me like her a lot more. Plot. I mean, this obviously isn't the best V.E. Schwab book out there regarding the plot for obvious reasons. So, I am going to rate the plot level as a middle-grade novel, which was absolutely fantastic. I keep wishing this series came out like five years ago, so I could just love the heck out of all these books because they are fantastic. I am not the intended age-group for this series, so I am less partial to these books than I'd like, BUT I STILL LOVE THE HECK OUT OF IT. The plot was fast-paced and engaging. And yes, I cried. My heart was torn from my chest, but I'm fine. It's fine. Writing. Honestly, you all know how I feel about V.E. Schwab's writing style, so I'll spare you the long rant. Themes. Friendship. I know I could have put this under the characters category, but that paragraph was getting too long, so here I am. Cassidy and Jacob's relationship is adorable and literally everything. This book is so strengthened by the friendship aspects--and also with the strengthening of Lara's relationships with both Jacob and Cassidy, of course. Have a wonderful afternoon 😎.

I'm not sure if there is going to be a book 4, but I hope so because I'd love to see more of these characters and their story.

Schwab has brought New Orleans to life! I read this twice in one go. I loved the story that much and that I think speaks most about how much I was absorbed into the world; but what more do you expect from Schwab. She just has a way of writing anything and making you connect, feel for, and love the world in a truly magical way. The vibes and life of New Orleans as well as the death is, as always, written in Schwab's engaging writing style; creating a vivid world that comes to live in your mind as Schwab has brought New Orleans to life! The ghost and plains of the veil in such colour than I was genuinely scared (me a 26-year-old girl) of a couple of the scenes. So, anyone thinking this book series is only for middle grade as it is in that section...will be missing out on an adventure I hope continues for many books to come. Thank you so much for this arc, it was the best Christmas present that I could ever have received!

'Don't go somewhere I can't follow.'" Gosh, I loved this book. This, in my opinion, was the best out of the books (even though the second was a good option as well). It made me cry and I thought it was an amazing end to this trilogy. "'I'm being chased by a missionary of Death.' 'Emissary,' corrects Lara." This book ~4.42~ "'What about rule number eight?' "'I'm being chased by a missionary of Death.' 'Emissary,' corrects Lara." This book had so much humor and I caught myself laughing out loud. Especially with my dear, dear Jacob. Ah, Jacob. I love him. I love him so much. Can he be my best friend?? PLEASE?? I think I may go insane. Anyways, I loved it, and I am sad to think that I am really only one book away from ending my time with Queen Schwab. But then, I can just re-read them. okay, I have some Chick-fil-a waiting for me. So I must go. Farewell and have a wonderful night.

I LOOOOOOOVE THIIIIIIIIIIIS OH GOD MY FEEEEEEELS!!!!! So the Cassidy Blake books are some of my most favorite MG books out there. They are engaging for all readers, not just young ones (I'm 35), and they never feel "dumbed down" for a younger audience. I genuinely adore every character, and the entire plot is just so cool. Bridge of Souls has the added bonus of actually being set in a place I've been to, complete with many sites I've visited, and that just added to it in so many fun ways. I need to get back to New Orleans, it's such a fabulous city. And on a final note, this trilogy is another study is “THIS IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER AND HE IS ALREADY DEAD BUT HE IS PURE AND PRECIOUS AND MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS” so you know. That's a thing. Just, oh man. I love this. I love the way Victoria wrapped it up. I love that's there's still so many places she can go if she decides to visit Cassidy again. I JUST LOVE THESE BOOKS SO MUCH OKAY DON'T EVEN LOOK AT ME RIGHT NOW *weeps*

I liked the 2nd installment better, but the humor stayed true in this one, and I loved the discussions about life and death towards the end. I love the friendships within this series as well as the unique settings in each book. In this one particularly, I appreciated the role tarot cards play into the story. I dont typically read nor enjoy middle grade but this series is an exception for sure!
