Romantic suspense I’ve only recently discovered there are some real gems among historical romance. This one was sweet and suspenseful. Alternating POV between Alice, Brodie and Silverwood. Alice is a capable young woman, who will go to great lengths for her family. She works at the saloon trying to make ends meet. But it’s hard. And when her father gambles away the ranch, it goes from being hard to being impossible. Yet she’ll have to find a way. Some men and their gambling... really… But there’s Romantic suspense I’ve only recently discovered there are some real gems among historical romance. This one was sweet and suspenseful. Some men and their gambling... really… But there’s a solution and that looks like a dream come true! But dreams can turn into nightmares… Brodie is an arrogant man. But he manages to wrap Alice around his little finger with no trouble at all. I didn’t like him at all (but I wasn’t supposed to). Yet Alice has always been in love with him and craves his attention. What does she see in him? He clearly is only ever going to use her. Silly girl ;) Silverwood is the new Sheriff of the town. But he has secrets to hide. A painful past to try and forget. I loved him; he’s kind, respectful, compassionate. Whenever I had to stop reading, I found myself wanting to dig right back in. Always a good sign. This book was well written and captivating. I really liked it and am glad I decided to expand my preferred genres. I am looking forward to the next installment about Alice’s younger sister Lucy.

I received an ARC and the opinions and views are my own. This is a very good start to the series. You have Alice who is a very strong character until Brodie comes along and then she turns into a simpering fool. Then you have Silverwood who makes her feel like a woman. The plot keeps you on your toes until the end, well written and interesting. Cannot wait to read Lucy and Jeremiah’s story.

The book sounds right up my alley. However the narration I cannot stand. The drawl of certain words just irks me to no end. I will read this book and come back to review it. I only got 20 minutes in and couldn't take it anymore. The book sounds right up my alley. However the narration I cannot stand. The drawl of certain words just irks me to no end.
