It was a quick read to get into and follows straight on from the concluding events of the first book, the worldbuilding and adventure was what kept me reading up until the final page, not knowing where the story was going was actually the best thing as the twists and turns were completely unexpected. The introduction of the mysterious journal was also a key element that I liked in Curses and Ash as it added more of a suspense surrounding the journey that Halen was on. For those who like mermaids, siren and fantasy books, check out this series! Other personal thoughts- I felt that Halen was a little bit stronger and could control her emotions slightly better than the first book. However, the lack of character connection did decrease my interest at times. The ending is also on a cliffhanger and I would like to read on to the final book to see the concluding events. Hopefully, this happens soon! I don't know about you but I think the book covers are very pretty!

How can she get rid of him without being able to ask anyone for help? There's a third realm besides Earth and Elosia, Etlis. It has been on fire for a long time because of past grievances. Those fires are now threatening Earth as well. Halen has a difficult journey ahead of her. Halen doesn't have much time, she has to make quick decisions, choose the right side and protect those she holds dear. Can she do it and will her immeasurable powers be enough to make her plans to defeat the evil Tarius once and for all succeed? Curses and Ash is another thrilling story about Halen's quest to save Earth and Elosia. She finally learns more about Tarius and the evil games that have been going on for a long time. She needs allies, but she also has to learn how to rely on herself and her own judgement. Her story is action-packed and interesting and I was glued to the pages, anxious to find out more about old feuds, schemes and secrets. Halen is an ideal main character. She's brave, impulsive and intuitive. I love her spirit and enjoyed reading about her very much. Tiffany Daune has written an intriguing series and The Siren Chronicles aren't like any other underwater story I've ever read. I love the way she writes about magic, it's vivid, powerful and original. Curses and Ash captivated me from beginning to end. I liked the way she explores the relationships between Halen and those around her, they each made me curious to find out more and to keep reading. Her colorful descriptions of the realms she's writing about are making them come to life in an amazing way. I absolutely loved this whirlwind of a story.

*Copy provided by author in exchange for an honest review* This is the long-awaited sequel to Coral & Bone and I have to say, it didn't disappoint! It took me a while to get through this book because I was battling one of the worst reading slumps I've ever been in. It lasted about two months and it was torture. It took me a while to get through this book because I was battling one of the worst reading slumps I've ever been in. It lasted about two months and it was torture. It wasn't this book's fault at all, my mind just couldn't focus on reading when all it wanted was to go out and socialize. Thankfully, I seem to be leaving that slump behind so I made myself sit still and finish this book. And now I have mixed emotions over finishing it so soon after my slump. I'm happy that I now know what adventures this book encompasses but I'm also restless because it ended. From the second his character was introduced, I've been wanting to dig deeper into Asair's past like no other... and I got my wish!!! We get to see more of Asair that had me begging for this book to never end just so I can see more. I don't think I will ever be sated where he's concerned. I feel like he's one of the most well-thought out characters in this series. In my opinion, he outshone everybody. And I'm not complaining because I love him to pieces. I also ship him with a particular character so hard. I will not name her due to spoilers (her gender is all you get). Let's just say, Tiffany, you have made me believe the chemistry between them to my very core and I'm so happy!!! They are so perfect and adorable together. I want them to end up together so bad and I will not accept another outcome! Ezra's character development was pretty amazing and took me by surprise. It was also insanely heart-breaking and it was difficult to swallow it all. I loved this guy since book one and I can't believe the things he went through in this book. There were some things that were pretty predictable but that last third of the book was absolutely captivating. I couldn't even blink because I was so enthralled with everything that was going on. It definitely made up for how long it took me to get there and I need more!! The reason why I couldn't give this 4 stars was because Halen, our main character, was pretty irritating for the first half of the book. She didn't make this journey easy for me and I wanted to tell her to keep her emotions in check too many times to count. She was impulsive and it wasn't fun to watch. She definitely started to redeem herself with that last third of the book because I didn't catch myself getting irritated at her anymore. In the contrary, I started to root for her. Also, I want to point out that Tiffany KNOWS how to end a book in the best possible way. That cliffhanger made my heart hurt and I couldn't help but tear up. I'm not happy with how things left off and I just hope the next installment doesn't break my heart. I don't know if I can make it another year of waiting to see what happens next! I'm already having Asair withdrawals... 3.5 stars

Curses and Ash is breathtaking and heart pounding! With this edge of your seat adventure, you will be turning page after page! This one is full of danger, magic, betrayal, and fantastical creatures! I think I loved this one more than Coral and Bone! There was so much excitement and suspense, and the characters continued to grow from their development in Coral and Bone! I loved Halen's vulnerability and strength. She underwent a tremendous character transformation that made me feel so much closer to her. She became quite powerful and changed roles from the typical high school girl to a heroine that is a force to be reckoned with. Dax's character grew from book 1. He was darker and more mysterious. He added more depth and conflict to the story, and kept everyone on their toes. I also really enjoyed meeting the new characters. I found that Asair worked his way in to my heart. Jae was one of my favorite, multidimensional characters. And, I've got a soft spot for Halen's sister, Natalie. Curses and Ash was very well written. It had little reminders here and there about what happened in Coral and Bone. It built off the magic and fantasy of Coral and Bone, but also took a life of its own with new twists and turns, characters, and world elements.  I loved the new creatures we were introduced to. I was fascinated by the magic, and siren powers, and I loved that the mermaids made another appearance in the story. We were even introduced to a dragon! Tiffany managed to capture my heart again with this one. It most definitely did not suffer from second book syndrome. It was thrilling and imaginative! I loved the new elements mixed with the old, and I enjoyed the unpredictability of the twists! It was full of creative magic, fascinating beings, exhilarating twists, danger, betrayal, and emotion. 4.5 stars!

With magical creatures, edge of your seat action, secrets and betrayal that will break your heart, and danger lurking at every corner, this spellbinding adventure had me holding my breath until the end. There’s no denying that I’m in love with this enchanting world. Duane beautifully created a wonderful and enticing story that I never want to end. There was so much excitement, heartbreak, tension, and insanely good twists and turns. My mind was a jumbled mess, and I didn’t know who was telling the truth or which way the story was going to go. There was never a boring moment for me and I absolutely loved not knowing what would happen next. And that ending… after that I just could not breathe! My emotions were all over the place and I couldn’t stop being anxious — so much so that I purchased the ebook for Smoke and Ruin as soon as I got home from work and read the first two chapters. Good thing I took a vacation day tomorrow (3/2) cause I’ll be staying up tonight (3/1) and reading Smoke and Ruin! I may even have finished by the time this review goes live). The characters were fantastic and grew so much from the time they were introduced. Halen became quite powerful and more resilient. Even though she still wasn’t sure about her destiny, Halen was able to stand her ground and became the kind of heroine that I admire. Dax was more mysterious and a bit harsh sometimes that I don’t know how I feel about him now. Tage and Ezra made me laugh and cry. I have a soft spot for those two and rooted for them so hard. Asair was a fun complication that I couldn’t resist and I enjoyed getting to know him more. I also loved his interactions with Halen. And Natalie… well she’s totally badass in her own ways. I don’t want to say too much, but there were so many secrets about the characters that added more conflict and drama to the story and I LOVED IT! I may have had a change of heart a few times, but I definitely enjoyed all the surprises. Tiffany Duane’s wicked imagination and gorgeous writing had me completely mesmerized. It’s exceptionally breathtaking, incredibly unique, and emotionally draining. Curses and Ash had everything that I love about fantasy books – fascinating creatures, fast-paced action, complicated relationships, exhilarating drama, complex characters, and unexpected twists. I really don’t want to leave this magical place just yet, but I’m also very excited to find out how it all ends. If you’re looking for a series that will have you turning page after page, then add this to your TBR or even better… just pick up Coral and Bone and get started! I don’t know about you, but I’ll be curled up in bed with my Kindle and spending the night with Smoke and Ruin. I just hope my heart will still be in one piece when it’s all over. I received a copy of this book through Xpressobooktours in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. To read more of my reviews, visit Sincerely Karen Jo

Now that the evil that was Asair has been defeated by another blue moon siren Halen, recovery can occur- but Halen hears a voice that may belong to Asair in her head. He is not be gone like everyone believes, instead he has entered Halen. She is determined to once and for all defeat the evil that is now inside her, but refuses to tell anyone of her struggles, including her Guardian. This is not your mother's version of Sirens and Mermaids, but instead an entirely new and dangerous spin on what we come to think of happy fairy tales. Mermaids are really scary, they like to poison peoples blood, pull them through drains and can use all forms of water against you. Sirens are hybrids who left unchecked can have the potential to destroy the world. I was so interested in the dynamic that exists in this series, brand new worlds/species/powers, making this series 100% unique and a great experience to read. I am completely in love with the new covers for the series, they are completely eye catching and oh so gorgeous! I knew I wanted to read these books from the synopsis, but I will admit that the updates drew me in ever so much more. Don't get me wrong, the original Coral and Bone cover image was really cool and very different (which sums up the series very nicely now that I think about it!)but overall very toned down and pretty much all the same color but in different shades, but the new cover really grabbed me. See the new cover for Coral and Bone: And here is the original cover of Curses and Ash: As a random side note, I loved where the titles come from, random things that seem so subtle but carry a lot of impact. For example, in book 1 Coral and Bone, the title came from the ingredients that make up the elixir that Halen has taken her whole life, a magic cure all if you will, she ignorantly has been consuming. I enjoy that Tiffany could tie in such things as the setting, the characters and the title together to create a comprehensive story. I had an easier time getting into book 2 Curses and Ash and I think that was mainly due to the fact that the world has been built now and I was not so lost and floundering (ha, yes, that is a fish/mermaid joke, thanks for asking!) as I was when I first picked up the series. I enjoyed how much Halen has grown as a character from a bumbling, confused, totally in the dark little girl into a competent decisive woman. I really enjoyed watching her become who she was meant to be and set her own path instead of being a pawn as anticipated. I am a sucker for character growth and she is a prime candidate. Get ready for action, danger, suspense, and some very surprising/heart-wrenching betrayal- and lets not forget the shocking twists and turns the plot took- this book will keep you on your toes and not all the characters that you have come to love will make it to the end of the journey alive (including my favorite character who I will not name now, but know that I miss them, sniff sniff). All kinds of magical species exist within the pages, be it dragons, mermaids and sirens to just name a few. Make sure to read the series in order for it to make any sense at all since Curses and Ash picks up a day or two after Coral and Bone ends- get ready to book binge too so you don't miss out on anything!. I am voluntarily reviewing a complimentary copy of this book.

Asair is not what I expected and neither is quinn. Dax saddened me and I hope he sees reason soon. I think the boy has drank too much of the kool aid and his arrogance does come out as well. First book loved him-this one started loving him but mind changed as the story went on and we see how much of the kool aid he has drank. We also get a legend that shows us more of what happened and why Alsair was and is so important. We also see more of what the siren’s are and how people view them. The Hunters freaked me out and I felt so much for Ezra. He sacrificed so so much I hope that his sacrifice doesn’t go by the wayside as does Tage and Quinn. Quinn is a great strong male hero. Fell for him from the beginnning Halen I am on the fence with still. She is strong but I am still reeling from her attitude in the first book. In the end she really has changed and you can see that she has her abilities under control and is accepting her fate. I love quinn with her even though I began wanting her and Dax. Quinn is more suited for her. He is encouraging, patient and kind. The story is imaginative and well written. So many twists, turns, reveals and half truths it has you head spin and keeps you just lurking wondering what is next and who can be trusted to the very end.. We see truth revealed, people’s true colors and have your mind blown in this second book in the series that truly tops the first and has you reeling in the end.

I really enjoyed reading Coral & Bones , the 1st book in the series. I fell in love with the plot , writing style, and world building . I was expecting the sequel, Curses & Ash, to be like it. It wasn't ; it was much better !! I have no idea Tiffany was able to make a sequel that was so great , compared to the epic start of the series . Sequels sometimes end up to be a disappointment , but Tiffany was able to break this stereotype. The story picks from where the 1st book ended, with us wondering if Asair is actually inside Halen. This means that one will be hooked by the story directly. In this sequel that is filled with surprises, hate, love, and a lot of ( OMG), I found myself unable to put this book down. The book was leaving me torn apart with every chapter I finish ! The book contained a story within a story that left me amazed. It was so creative , like that in Holly Black's The Coldest Girl in Coldtown. Between the unfolding events, characters' pasts, and their lies&secrets, you will barely be able to put this book down. As I approached the end, I entered a reading phase that I rarely ever visit; the shuffling between "Having a few pages left ,with events that are going to destroy me emotionally, that I pause with every page to delay it" & " Reading so fast to see how the story ends " ! How does Tiffany have all of this amazing creativity ???? Not only that, but she describes these descriptions and feelings perfectly ! No, perfect doesn't even begin to describe this ." To sum it all up, this book left me emotionally exhausted , and impatiently waiting for the end of the series ! I give Curses & Ash 5/5 stars .

The characters, their names, the mythology . . . it's all beautifully constructed and hypnotizing. Just like the first book in the series, I found myself drawn in immediately. Halen has grown since the last book; she's a stronger character with a strong sense of self. Dax is a character with a lot of baggage, that I'm glad to have seen hashed out a bit more in this book. There was always some sense of mystery with him, and I'm happy to say some of that was unveiled in Curses & Ash. And Asair! I couldn't wait to finally learn a bit more about his past. This intense, deeply negative character drew me in from the start. He made me feel invaded and frustrated in such perfect ways. Overall, I was very happy with this read and can not WAIT until the next book comes out.

In other words, it's highly recommended to start at the beginning of the series before diving into book two. Halen has destroyed Asair. . .or maybe not. The Etils' fires are still burning, and the threat to Earth is even greater than before. And the excitement and problems just shoot off from here. This is a packed book on so many levels—fast moving, hidden secrets, unexpected twists, and tons of character dilemmas. The first book already kept a great pace, but the sequel takes the tale to the next level. Nothing is simple for any single one of the characters, and the author lets these problems weave in and out and all around, while still keeping them knit into an intricate plot. Halen is, at times, a little more difficult to grasp than in the first book, but then, she's up against quite a bit. Her decisions are sometimes rash, and her scope a bit narrow. Still, her character manages to pull through, and by the end of the book, it's impossible not to cheer her on. . .while clinging to the edge of the seat. While she shined in book one, this book tends to let the other characters come through a bit more and bring traits to life, which add much more shades of gray. In other words, a great set-up of book three. Relationships, personal demons and driving forces take one unexpected twist after another, making it hard to see what is coming next. Tension is as high as the stakes, and there's never a boring moment. It's not a book easy to put down but keeps driving forward with full force. Halen is under time pressure to save them all, and the route to do this isn't easy or clear-cut. Add the dangerous Hunters, her twin sister, possible romantic interests which just don't want to take the easy path, and it's quite the ride. What gives this one so much richness is the dive into the other characters problems and shadow sides. Especially Asair gains a wonderful amount of depth and understanding in this book, taking his role as the ultimate villain on a delightful spin. The interactions between him and Halen are simply a treat, and it will be interesting to see in which direction this leads. He definitely has gained rank on my villain scale, and the author has done a marvelous job at rounding him into an intriguing character. The author knows how to use the moments to draw out emotions and isn't afraid to drive the characters into unexpected leaps or back them against a wall. Even in those moments, when Halen wasn't the most grabbing main character she could have been, the book doesn't let go. There's something about it which hooks and holds until the last page. And thanks to the cliff-hanger ending, makes it impossible not to want to dive into book three and see what happens next. Fans of the first book are sure to enjoy this one, but should be prepared for some unexpected moments. I enjoyed this book more than the first and can't wait to see what still lies in store. I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed this so much that I wanted to leave my honest thoughts.

I recommend this book to all who read the first book CORAL & BONE and who enjoyed it. In this second instalment of the series, CURSES & ASH is definitely hotter than the first book, I mean by just looking at the cover, it's so Hot! Literally on fire! Yes! Curses and Ash picks up right from where Coral and Bone; the first book in the series ended. I really liked the plot in the first book but as it continued it got even better. I was definitely proven wrong with not expecting much from this one. This book had way more interesting plot twists and much better characters. You got to see a different side of Asair which I really liked and the conversations in the book between Asair and Halen was so entertaining, I was giggling through some of the book because of the humour of him. The ending of Coral and Bone really had me hating Asair, because of course he was the villain, but you see more into his life in this book and why he became what he was, which really makes you feel for him and I truly loved his character. While I was becoming to love Asair I lost love for some of the other characters; like Dax and Daspar, and Halen also annoyed me a few times, but she is still a good main protagonist. Its so hard to review a sequel without spoiling the first book, but overall this was a quick and great read and far better than the first, so if you like the sound of siren assassins, dragons and also an appearance of a werewolf then you will love this book. Pick up the Siren Chronicles, full of action and adventure that will not disappoint.

Saying that this is a spellbinding sequel just does not cover how absolutely amazing this book is. Duane out did herself creating a second book that is not only as good as the first book, but quite possibly out does it. Okay, so maybe it's Coral and Bones equal but there is nothing mediocre about this second book. In fact this book holds its own and shows us all that being second isn't always a bad thing. I think the biggest thing for the plot in this book was the massive twist that it took. I Saying that this is a spellbinding sequel just does not cover how absolutely amazing this book is. Okay, so maybe it's Coral and Bones equal but there is nothing mediocre about this second book. In fact this book holds its own and shows us all that being second isn't always a bad thing. I think the biggest thing for the plot in this book was the massive twist that it took. I can't say exactly how it happened or when I realized that it was happening, but it did and I just couldn't grasp it to start. This is not saying that I didn't realize that something was changing, that something was off. However, I didn't see the depth of deception that was going on. The pace didn't let up and kept me quickly turning the pages. One of the biggest appeals and perks of the pacing and the plot twist was that the book had the excitement of a first book, but the bonus of knowing the characters that you are reading. You get to see all of the old friends and still get the feel of the first time you met. There was nothing that I can think of that I would change, nor a moment that I would change, knowing what I know now. Halen is in quite a predicament. Spending so much of her life being lied to is still blowing up in her face. It's hard to know who to trust when everyone you thought you knew, you didn't and everything you thought to be true is gradually twisting with no way of knowing what's really the truth. There is also the matter of her and Dax, and the lines that they seem to be walking. Basically, if Halen thought things were tough before, her life has just gotten two times more complicated. Halen did manage to maintain her appeal through all of this. She continues to be a strong female lead, and yet she is not without her weaknesses or faults. Halen is unique in the fact that she does adapt to a situation quickly and she will fight to do what needs to be done, but she also is willing to admit that there is much she can't do on her own. For this I have always enjoyed Halen and am sure I will continue to do so. Halen isn't the only one going through a tough time. In fact basically everyone in this book is going through something. Though I ache to explain further, I honestly fear that in doing so I would ruin so much. Even the other major voice Tage (I can't even say point of view because it was like a separate story that ties in near the end), holds far too much to explain fully without destroying some key points. What you do need to know is that everyone still plays their part no matter how big or how small, and there are lives that are either forever changed, or taken. Duane showed that she had no fear when it came to removing a character, even if it did twist you up or take a little piece of you each time it happened. Duane used her magnificent plot/plot twist and her magical writing to pull off something amazing in a second book; she flat out made it just as good as the first. This book was not for one moment a filler, or anything less than an equal to Coral and Bone. Page after page Curses and Ash kept me captivated and anxious to find out what happened in the end. I wasn't expecting there to be another book after this, and was equally excited and disappointed to find out that there will be a third book. I am disappointed only because I will have to wait until 2017 to get my greedy hands on the next book, because beyond that I am nothing but a ball of anticipation and excitement. If you haven't had the chance pick up this exciting series because there is very little chance of disappointment. Fans of paranormal, action and a well written read will surely love this book.

"Once kissed by mermaid venom, thy blood shall flow like the sea." Tiffany Duane amazes me again! I fell in love so fast with her first book, Coral & Bone. I was so excited to read Curses & Ash! This book definitely did not disappoint! After killing Asair, Halen returns and everything is different. Daz can no longer sense her, and she can hear Asair in her head. Asair is talking to her. Halen knows she can't let her friends know, they will kill her. Her mom finds out that Asair is inside of her and sends her to a mysterious person, in hopes of purging him. To make matters worse, Natalie, Halen's twin sister, is back, alive and evil. If Dax was Natalie's guardian before, is he now? Is he both Halen's and Natalie's guardian? "She was curious about the relationship Dax had with her sister, and when she glanced across the hall at Dad's bedroom door, only a few feet from Natalie's, jealousy crept into her thoughts and snuggled up for the evening." Halen has people telling her that Natalie is bad and others telling her that Dax is bad. She is unsure who to trust. To complicate things a little, Asair really messes with her mind in this book. Natalie, Halen, and Asair, the three blue moon sirens, have a quest to fulfill. Will Halen help? They need her. But what about Dax, her guardian? Can she trust her guardian? But Natalie is her sister. This book is full of adventures and non stop excitement. After being thrown into this world by accident, Halen begins learning the truth. It has taken her a while, but she starts to see the truth about Dax, the truth about Asair, the truth about Natalie, and even the truth about her father. She really figures everything out in this book and its awesome to see her character develop. She is becoming more confident in herself and independent. The more I think about it, I realize that all the characters have developed and are now more complex. Many risk their lives for one another, deal with deaths, love, and lies. Tiffany Duane's characters are tough, and have to be, to handle everything that is and will be thrown at them. I really love the world Tiffany Duane has created. So dark but so pretty and magical all at the same time. I get this beautiful eerie feeling, and I love it! Let's talk about the covers here too! They are so beautiful! The faces, the scenery, the accessories, and the eyes! These covers have me drooling over them! But the cover isn't the only beautiful thing. The words in the books are just as beautiful and unique as their covers!

It took me quite a while to write this review upon finishing this book. Not because I lacked the words to describe such a beautifully written sequel but because I have so much to say I wanted to be careful of spoilers. (If you haven read Coral & Bone this may contain spoilers about it) Frankly there are few times when I feel that the sequel matches the first book, and even fewer times that it surpasses it. This is one of those few times. I am in awe with Ms. Duane and her ability to weave a picture out of words, she truly inspires me. First of all I love that the beginning of the book matches the end of Coral & Bone, it was an easy transaction that left the reader feeling comfortable as to where the characters were. Coral & Bone left us with the chilling fact that the dead Asair wasn't in fact so dead. Now Halen must make the decision to either trust her friends with the knowledge of his existence and face the consequences or keep it to herself. Which is the right answer, and why does she feel torn when talking to Dax? They must extinguish the fires and open the portal to Etlis but a nagging feeling (and voice, I'm looking at you Asair) keeps her from revealing a truth. Tension rises between Halen and her friends, they can sense something isn't right and they want answers. But you should be careful what you wish for. Helen has to face Dax, Asair, Natalie, as well people from her past and her future in order to get the full picture of what's happening. Things will get ugly and people will show their true colors. Ms. Duane has the amazing ability to rip your heart out, and I say this with the utmost respect for her, the plot twists were definitely giving me emotional whiplash. I didn't expect them at all, and I think that's the best kind. The one that sneaks up one you. In truth I could keep going with this review, but in doing so I feel I would give away too many good details so I will leave one final thought on the matter. Friends are lost, friends are gained and Halen is once again left to save the world. I give this book 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I recommend it to EVERYONE! *I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts above are just that, my honest unaltered opinion that have in no way been influenced*

Oh man, I'm still shocked with the ending from the last book and this one picks up right where that one ended. A big crazy has happened. Halen has Asair with her. I won't explain because I won't give anything away for those of you who haven't read this series yet, but it's a big deal. It's big trouble. Tage and Ezra and Dax are trying to protect Halen, Catch and Pepper are back at home dealing with the fall out and maybe the bad guys aren't the only bad guys and maybe some of the good guys are bad. There's no shortage of drama here. And death. Be prepared. And changes. Not always for the good. When something bad happened, the fall out and reaction became jaw dropping for one of my favorite characters. I learned a lot about several characters that I thought I knew before. But people can change. Man... Also, there's some new twists with the siren mermaid happenings and the shifters are big players as well. When there's a big fire all over the world, it comes down to getting down and dirty. If people find out about Halen's secret with Asair, if her friends aren't found alive after capture, if her sister really loses her mind... See there's all kinda things about to happen. And we are trying to let the whole world burn. I want Dax and Halen to work out, but it's really complicated. I want her father huron and her to make a little leeway in their relationship. I would like to see a lot of things but I am not sure what's going to happen now. The world building was originally great in book one, and now, we are getting to the gritty parts of the characters. Don't worry, the world around them is going down in flames, but I am more worried about who's going to live to see it burn. :) I am totally looking forward to more. I know I kept things vague but this was a hard review to write without spoilers. Everything I think about saying will ruin something. LOL but just check out this fantastic series. Really. Book one will hook you and book two will completely lock it down. You won't want to let this one go. 5 PAWS!!

Fantastic Sequel! Bang, surprise and thrill through the entire book, and I am happy with how the first book rolled directly into this one without skipping a beat. There are often times when an author can lose sight of how to flawlessly continue the evolution of characters or plots when there's spacing between books, but Ms. Daune did not have that problem! Halen has won, she destroyed the bad guy, found peace.....the whole shebang.....or so she thought. I love how with the closure that she should have received after Asair disappeared it only caused more turmoil within her. Though I was frustrated with the fact that she seemed to have little faith in Dax, I understand she was afraid to tell him all the things that had happened, but she needed to trust him. All in all I loved the pace of Curse & Ash, it was a little quicker thank Coral & Bone, and I think that's what making me really excited for the next installment. Plus the character development was getting better and better with each page, so it'll be a ride to see how Halen deals with what's tossed at her in the next book!
