Problematic Cookbook This book has what the author calls vegan salads as well as bonus recipes for smoothies. The book has no pictures of the finished dishes, which I think is unfortunate as salad recipes lend themselves to making such beautiful photos with all the natural colors of vegetables. More problematic, though, is that some recipes weren’t actually salads, and the author didn't have many true dressings. Dressings often make a salad, or at least unify the different parts of it. She includes recipes that are warmed, usually with no sort of dressing. That reads to me like just an average, ordinary vegetable side dish, not a salad. The book is not organized at all. It would have been nice to have the warm salads separate from the cold ones, and the vegetable-based ones separate from the fruit-based ones. I thought the proportions were off for some salads. For instance, in a Mediterranean salad whose main vegetable ingredients were baby spinach and shredded zucchini, the author said to use a cup of each. That would make it very heavy in zucchini, and a rather small salad in terms of the greens as you could never pack a cup measure with true 1 cup volume. The author often used a measure of a “handful” in the recipes. I really think that needs to be more precise. For one thing, hand size varies! Also, some ingredients labeled such are not readily graspable or are only awkwardly so, like a handful of olives. Frankly, too, I don’t like to be so hands-on with all my ingredients, especially now. The recipe ingredient list was not in the order in which they are used in the recipes, a personal pet peeve of mine. For some reason, the author likes to use the word “of” in the ingredient list, like “1/4 teaspoon of….” Oddly, too, sometimes the author used written out measures for fractions, like “half,” but other times she used numeral fractions. I think cookbooks (and all nonfiction) need to be consistent. The directions were not always clear or were sometimes repetitious. Because of all the problems with this book, I do not feel like I can recommend it. I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Basic Vegan salads with easy to buy ingredients This book has 58 Salad recipes and 10 Smoothie recipes. There is a large array of different salads with a lot of different ingredients. The book is good but nothing that is out of the ordinary. There were two things that I thought to be drawbacks - the first is the lack of any real interesting dressings for the salads and the second is the lack of any pictures for the recipes. As a person who loves cookbooks of all types I find that pictures of each recipe are important to me, especially since I am a visual person. But otherwise this was an easy vegan salad recipe book. I received a copy of this book for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Plant based recipe book that strictly adheres to salads, and smoothies as the majority of the recipes entail. I had a hard time because there is zero pictures of the salads. I’m not a big fan of not being able to see the end product because I go by pictures. There is also zero calorie info which also makes it difficult to make me want to buy. The salads seem to balance the out with nuts, seeds, and higher calorie foods like avocado mixed in with greens, and fruits. Thanks for the peek! Though not a vegan I was looking to add more fruits and vegetables to my daily diet. This is a wonderful collection of quick and easy, tasty and nutritious plant-based recipes with easy to follow instructions. These recipes are nutrient rich salads made with mostly raw, though some cooked, fruits, vegetables and superfoods suitable for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Highly recommend.
