Night driving can be a thoroughly unsettling experience. What is it about our cars that lulls us into a false sense of security, that makes us think that these tin cans on wheels can somehow protect us from the big, bad world outside? Quite simply, they can’t…. Here are seven short stories and novelettes from Sam West, each one exploring the perils of night driving. A m Night driving can be a thoroughly unsettling experience. Much like magical penis enlargement ads*, the name Sam West keeps popping up in my recommendations on Amazon. Unlike those ads, I was actually curious to read some of her work. Why did it take me so long, though? Well, I am not sexist when it comes to writing, but I've had a few bad experiences with females writing in the extreme genre. However, psychologically it was difficult to be motivated to read her work, simply because right next to her recommendations are always books by an extreme writer I can't stand. Sooo...it wasn't fair, I know, but I had to push myself into this one. I was really surprised by two things; None of the stories were that extreme. By reputation alone I was expecting much more blood and gore, but these were seven fairly straight forward stories. The second thing, which impressed me a lot, was her writing style. She has a talent, that is for sure, and I will read more of her work in the future. Why only three stars, right? Of the seven stories, only one was very good - the others were average, in my opinion. In the end I'm glad I started with this one - much lighter than expected, but a good writing style. * Guys, I really want to know if there are still enough gullible people out there to believe that shit, because my spam filter remains full of them.

A hell of a ride Sam West knows how to scare his readers. We had to do a late night drive at so point but do we ever think about what's hiding behind the shadows ...

Short stories Lots of quirky little short stories, easy to pick up and read when you don’t have much time, well written and to the point, enjoyed this book

all right but not much more I’m not sure I’d like any work written by this author. The stories are okkay here but not much more than that. The premise is quite good but the telling has flaws. I can put up with the fact that the majority of them are set somewhere around kent or are linked with that county. That’s fine but, how can somebody’s eyes flly open and then they open their eyes a few sentences later when there’s no suggestion that the eyes were closed again? Some people call it erotica but all right but not much more I’m not sure I’d like any work written by this author. The stories are okkay here but not much more than that. Some people call it erotica but I call it pornography. Really, I can’t see the point of it really. Anyway, as I say the stories are all right but not much more than that.

Driving At Midnight I think Sam West is a good writer but I didn’t like the supernatural twist to his work. I enjoy gruesome stories, but I didn’t like that supernatural aspects were included.
