Not a bad book, just not what I was expecting. Also this is part of a series, and I didn’t realize that going into it. So there are some previously established characters and rules that were lost on me. If you want a kindle unlimited book with merman shifters, maybe start with the first book in the series?

DNF at 70% I am SO DISAPPOINTED by how this novel turned out. The beginning of the novel was so strong and had a forbidden love/beauty and the beast feel to it (which I love), and I had such high hopes for it. But then something happened towards the 30% mark and the story got repetitive and veered in a direction that I did not see coming. My mind started to wander and my eyes started skimming, but I kept on reading hoping I would find some of the magic from the beginning of the novel. I am officially dnf-ing this one. RIP this could-have-been-amazing mer novel :( PS. I didn't read any of the previous novels, and I have to admit that I struggled integrating myself into this world at first. The language, terminology, customs and past events all relied pretty heavily on the background info provided in previous books, so it was tough jumping in feet first into this novel. [Note: I did round up to 2 stars because the beginning was so promising.]

This is the sixth book in this series. It is well written, dramatic, exciting, action-packed, steamy and offers some very big twists in the overall story line that is unfolding across this series. Normally I would recommend that you start at the beginning and read through from book one, Seduced by the Sea Lord. However, I felt this book offered a bit of distance from the rest of the books and if you chose to, you could just go ahead and read this one, even with the continuing story elements. However, I felt this book offered a bit of distance from the rest of the books and if you chose to, you could just go ahead and read this one, even with the continuing story elements. Keep in mind that you will miss out on meeting some wonderful characters, swoon worthy romances and a full understanding of the "bigger picture" if you do. Now, I am going to be brutally honest. As will happen when you are an avid reader of a series, you can grow attached to characters. When this happens you have your own ideas and yes, even dreams and wishes for your favorites. This book finally gave readers Faier's much longed for shot at love and a HEA. Unfortunately, my expectations and wants for this character and what the author wrote were very, very different. I will state again this is my opinion and it is based solely on my feelings, NOT this authors work because as usual she crafted a high quality read. Faier is such a wonderful character. Strong, honorable, quiet and dependable. A hero that has deep scars on both the outside and inside but also has a beautiful soul. Feeling unworthy and unlovable, he earned a special place in my heart and I wanted him to get a bride that was worthy of such a hero. Male character or not, I wanted him to get the fairytale. That soulmate that was going to look at him and see through the scars to his heart and know from first glance just how lucky they got in the love department. Instead, he got Harmony. Now I know that there will be readers that enjoyed this character. I did not. Simply put.. I. Hated. Her. I felt that she was cruel and a user. She spent the greatest portion of this book going back and forth between finding ways to hurt Faier and then finding ways to use him. All while, being oh, so oblivious to it all because she's the only one who matters. What she needs, what she wants, her fears, how unfair her life has been. Self- centered much? I know that her backstory was probably supposed to make you sympathize with her, but I couldn't and I didn't. The first time she screamed "Monster", she ripped my heart out of my chest, broke Faier's and really there was no going back. Considering who her ex was I thought she was a total hypocrite. I do look forward to more books in this series because you will never love each book you read, but my heart is a bit broken and I can't say I am not disappointed. Faier deserved so, so much better. This is my freely posted, frank review.

She has a lot of growing up to do, but sadly it's through Faier's pain and suffering! There were a lot of times I wanted to slap sence into Harmony and wrap my arms around Faier! It was a good emotional ride! The reason for only 4 not 5 stars I'd because of how cruel Harmony was to Faier for no reason at first, and some later! The vibrancy of colors are spectacularly accurate and the detail to the marine life made me feel like I was once again back under the sea. I love her strong characters. It's awe inspiring to watch Harmony grow and emotionally evolve (and take Faier with her!). While this story can easily be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading the books in series order to get the maximum enjoyment from the books, characters and storyline. What is the secret about Harmony that will change everything will Faier get to keep his bride when a king claims her While I absolutely loved Faier and have throughout the series i must admit I struggled with Harmony she just seemed very self centred and even her so called past wasn't enough to explain he self centred behaviour. While this book van be read as a stand alone I do believe you will get far more out of it by reading the entire series

Couldn't finish this. Don't bother! I gave this about 5 days of my time, so don't think I gave up easily! The premise of the story is good, it's a good idea for a book. The characters aren't your typical romance characters, I had no problem with that! I happen to think diversity is hard to find in a lot of romances. My sympathy was with Harmony the lead female protagonist, who had been abused by her boyfriend and other men around her very recently, and that would mess with anyone's head. However, as easily skittish and traumatized as she acted, and how scared she was to say a word to anyone as she was, you'd think she'd been traumatized her WHILE LIFE! However, she said in one of her many personal narratives that she hadn't been like that until Lifet. Also, it's ridiculous that there are that many male characters in the book that don't listen to a word she says when she finally does start to speak up for herself. This book has so many idiotic offshoots from the main plot that I had to remind myself which book I was reading. Don't waste your time reading this book!

I suggest that everyone start reading from the first book so that things make sense even if each book is about a new couple.

I was so excited when I heard that Secrets of the Sea Lord was coming out. I thought, "YEA!" Faier is finally going to get to tell his story and find his true love! As always, Starla Night gave us a great story of a tragic warrior seeking his mate. The problem I have with this book is his mate, Harmony. There is no way around it - I didn't like her. I felt she was selfish, manipulatve and had no problem hurting Faier every chance she could get. I know they "resonated", but I just didn't feel it. A tough read at first, but good The story was good and the world building is great, my only problem was the heroine. The heroine is in my opinion extremely weak for 1/3 of the story and frustrating. I understand that she has character development but she is dependent on everyone and causes more problems for herself and others. As she came into her own I grew to like her but there were times when she would still fallback into these moments even towards the end. Another great story in a great series. Poor Faier! My heart went out to him. All those injuries. All those tortures. But he never bent, always stayed strong and true in his believes. Harmony is a different story. Though she has been through a lot, I couldn't really feel sorry for her. There was too much back and forth in her thinking and her actions. I'm just glad that in the end she did come through and became a worthy queen. I received the book as a gift and voluntarily read and reviewed it. Another great story in a great series. Poor Faier! This is the sixth book in the Lords of Atlantis series and just like the other books in the series it is well written, action packed and full of exciting and steamy twist. Faier is a mer sea lord who has been earthbound for two years, sent by his king to find and claim his human bride but with no luck. Until now. Harmony has been battered and abused and near death several times from a psychotic gangster ex boyfriend and his equally crazy minion. Rescuing Harmony and finding that she is his bride, and absolutely afraid of him, will take a lot of patience and loving from Faier to overcome the damage that was done to her. Rebel Merman In the distant past island people had forged a treaty with the merfolk. Every so many years one of their females would become a bride to a Sea Lord. Sadly many islands were deserted in recent years and so the merfolk came out to modern day humans. They were looking for brides among the modern day humans thru match making companies etc. This is the story of one merman in his search for love and the lengths he will go to trying to protect a woman. Great romance!

I nearly stopped reading the book because the heroine is so weak, there were times she grew a backbone and then, slumped, back to her sorry self again. Kind of frustrating really but Faeir’s faith in her pushed me to continue reading. So glad I did because the ending is quite a surprise and heartwarming. I loved it. Thank you, now I loved both their Harmony and Faeir. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Any book in this series is a great read so don't just pick one. I will have to admit that this one may be my new favorite. Harmony is more special than she even knows and may be the key to expanding the Sea Lord's world. Fairer is a mer without a home or so he believes. His connection to three mer cities will bridge a connection not seen before. This book had good characters and villians to help keep the reader engaged. Meh This book was okay but not really my kind of thing. I read this as an experiment. I usually don't read this genre. The book was kind of outlandish which was probably intended. I usually don't like shifter books. But I decided to read it and see what it was about. I probably won't read anymore. Meh This book was okay but not really my kind of thing. Love this series. This is exciting, suspenseful, surprising and so much more. A enjoyable blend of characters and story that will keep your attention.. He saves her and wants her. He is scarred and afraid no one will want him. The story goes on from there and has twists and turns and bumps in the road to a happy ending. I voluntarily review a copy for booksprout.

This is a delightful story with romance, steam, drama and great twists and turns. It is definitely one that I could not put down until the very end. I thoroughly enjoyed this action packed story! Harmony & Faier Faier is a merman and saves Harmony, when she is thrown overboard. Other mermen capture them and the king wants Harmony for his bride, but she belongs to Faier. The other mermen injure Faier and take him captive. Later she figures out that King Kayo, is her brother and she is his mermaid sister.

A great mer story with plenty of action. Harmony is definitely not your average woman. And she is about to find out how different she really is. And expect some twists to mix things up. And Faier is not a normal mer. So the two are perfect for each other. But it seems the other mer don’t want that to happen. So expect one tough woman to become even tougher and to get things settled.
