This extremely short story about an eighteen-year-old girl who's about to get her break in modeling was not what I was expecting and ended up being just a waste of my time by that ending. Quite a smart short story with the author clearly taking Keridee to a place the average reader does not want to go. Keridee has a simple life. Limited ambition but hard working. Limited ambition but hard working. In a sea of sameness she stands out because she is pretty. Not in a pretentious or narcissistic way. Just a simple attractive young women with a steady boyfriend. Others have noticed her beauty; girls are jealous of her natural good looks and Dylan worried about others finding her attractive. Offers of modelling come her way but not believing the comments and not willing to upset her fella she limits herself in terms of exposure and clothing she’ll wear. All this changes when she is betrayed by her friends. Where there was previously little motivation to enter the world of fashion she starts to follow that dream. Her big break comes at a motor racing event where she is dolled up with several others to promote the sports team and sponsors endorsements. Amid the glamour is an important man. Good looking and owner of the largest modelling agency around. If only she could catch is eye among a throng of eleven others all identically dressed. But then she is pretty, everyone says. Keridee is at the start of her career. She is learning quickly but nothing has prepared her for another betrayal and disappointment.

This one began in a way I found interesting but it took a major nose dive into predictable land and was just boring. Again very trite. Nothing to see here. Makes me sad that these eight books were the best Miller could come up with to high light "the fairer sex." Raunchy and boring. this seemed to be the book (listen) to be of these youngest lady? i think?? maybe just my thoughts. I think my fave 2 are Heidi and Clara ... they others not that i did enjoy them but i prefer those others more??! interesting take, i guess for me i wonder why in 2019 we are still saying FAIRER sex? i mean ... we are ladies, hear us ROAR ... not saying beat all men down. so not the case. just change the wording. This was pretty awful, but it was kinda-sorta worth it, just for the little swerve at the end. Nicely played.....

But instead we see the assault played for shock and the victim becomes an object unto which the assault happens. We don’t get to see her reaction or the lingering affects this situation will have upon her. Will she give up modeling out of fear that any rich dick face will try and assault her? Will she go running back to her stupid boyfriend because she thinks he had a point by saying he should dictate what she wears in order to possess...oops I mean protect...her? Does she ever go forward with the story and then get blamed for the assault because what she was wearing and that she was “asking for it”? 🤮🤮 This really does Keridee a disservice because we don’t get to see how this awful and traumatic moment will affect the rest of her life. But I guess they let you do it when you’re famous

Eh. I wish there was more to this story, would of loved to have seen Keridee’s response to the situation she was in. It’s like a non satisfying cliff hanger ending. Keridee is young and pretty, so pretty everybody hates her. She’s at a modeling gig, and after a couple of bad days things are looking up but reality isn’t all that great. I actually enjoyed this book in the beginning. Keridee is a young aspiring model who, after a break up from her controlling boyfriend, sets off to work on an important modelling project only to find that the project is even more exciting that she could have hoped. And she's caught the eye of an influential billionaire in the process. It's a story of naivete and disillusionment, but it's also packed a little political opinion in there. However, the ending ruined it all for me. (view spoiler)[ Unfo I actually enjoyed this book in the beginning. Spring 2019 Amazon's Fairer Sex Collection: An interesting, but very short story, and while I knew the twist would come somewhere in the story, I was not expecting the icy chill that struck me at the end. The point hones in well in our present day and age, with comments about these actions made in the news. https://thebookloversboudoir.wordpres... I usually enjoy the short reads from Amazon Original Stories. I thought this story was okay, not brilliant but not awful. I enjoyed it a lot at times but there were sections that left me cold. I felt the story was uneven in places. Keridee seems like two people at times. The story is quite light. https://thebookloversboudoir.wordpres... I usually enjoy the short reads from Amazon Original Stories. I thought this story was okay, not brilliant but not awful. I got this collection as part of my Amazon Prime subscription. I see this is the story most people disliked the most, yet I find it to be one of my favorites. Poor Keridee, so young and naive. The last line is a punch in the gut, and I can see how some people may find it offensive, but I think it's right on point in describing a certain real-life person I prefer not to name. There is a point being made with this story; this much I get. However, it did not hold my interest, the ending was abrupt and horrid (which I get is the point). I think it could have been done in a different manner that was engaging, or perhaps this story just wasn't for me. There is a point being made with this story; this much I get. Another lowlight of this collection, but like all of them compulsively readable. This is one of the few (only?) that leave the Manhattan-finance milieu so reads more like stereotype than clever parody. And no delicious twists like some of the others. still worth the short time to read.
