This authors mind is so sharp, I can't even comprehend the research she would've undergone to develop this story, her plots are intricate, her characters are always a little bit flawed and unhinged. She pulls you in so effortlessly time and time again. That one question popping up numerous times, could the real psychopath please stand up? She became his obsession, his lab rat, a killer. Blakely was born a psychopath, unfeeling, uncaring, and along comes Dr. Alex Chambers a biomedical scientist who thinks he can cure her sickness. A truly unique captivating story which will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.

I've seen and learned a lot over the past year and the one thing that I can say when it comes to reading a story, is that you can always count on it to provide you with a brief escapism. The characters will lure you in whether you love or hate them, the setting will make you want to be there in that moment and if everything comes together? The characters will lure you in whether you love or hate them, the setting will make you want to be there in that moment and if everything comes together? You will see the beauty in the words that are spoken. Now with that being said, I truly feel like I got seriously mindfucked with no warning or foreplay for that matter! What just happened???! "Trying to resist her snare was vain, and ineffective. Do not touch. Oh, I touched. I put my hand right into her flame. Then I begged her to burn me again". Alex and Blakely made this story their very own. At first glance you would try to figure out how these two characters would even have an ounce of chemistry but you do not need to see it. It is felt and it consumes you within the first few chapters and just when you’re feeling that giddiness and excitement over the prospect of something new and beautiful, this author gives you a reality check that will literally have your head spinning. Trisha Wolfe delved into the mind of a cunning psychopath and you were left wondering what kind of depravity you were going to encounter next. Who's telling the truth? What twisted game will I be entangled in and will I make it out unscathed? I had all of these things flying through my mind at warped speed and do you know the realization that I came to? I'm going to have to see someone in a professional setting because this book right here?? Trust me when I tell you that you have to go into this story blind. The twists and turns that you’re hit with has to be felt like a gut punch. It’s raw, passionate, depraved, cunning and sexy. Even after reading those last words, you will be craving more and Malady cannot come fast enough!! If you’re a fan of twisted psychological thriller reads, then this book is for you.

Phenomenal read! It's Wolfe's prose, her way with words. Her simple yet elegant way of drawing you into her written world. I feel she is one of the most untapped greats of the writing world. I truly do. God, what I wouldn't give for this author to be given the time and support to dedicate solid, unencumbered time to create. It would be a masterpiece. ~Tanja Follow me on Instagram✿Twitter✿Facebook✿Pinterest✿ Phenomenal read! It's Wolfe's prose, her way with words. I know when I'm in need of a good mindf**k, to look no further than a Trisha Wolfe book. And with Cruel, I was not disappointed. I'm blown away once more at her ability to truly get inside one's brains and somehow take all the crazy and deviance and make it palatable! I'm still reeling from what one Dr. Alex Chambers has set forth in a journey of revenge and retribution. And with Cruel, I was not disappointed. I'm blown away once more at her ability to truly get inside one's brains and somehow take all the crazy and deviance and make it palatable! I'm still reeling from what one Dr. Alex Chambers has set forth in a journey of revenge and retribution. Turning the tables, if you will, on Blakely Vaughn and leaving me with the undecided notion of who the true villain is as part I of this riveting tale comes to an end. Wolfe leads us to a path early on that I was fully engaged in, as Blakely shows us what her motivations are wrt Ericson Daverns and the lifestyle and profession she has created that only gets more honed with every new client. The unconventional pairing of these seemingly unfeeling souls brings out emotions that are foreign and yet touch a nerve deep within that changes everything they thought they knew. And it is brilliant to watch albeit a bit unnerving. Cruel is a book, like most others in Trisha Wolfe's library, that you must go into blind. You need to embrace all that is happening slowly, letting your mind absorb all the moving parts and allowing your jaw to drop more than once as events unfold. You honestly cannot skip even one word since each one is meticulously placed in order to be able to properly relish this wild ride. I liken Wolfe's stories to a different kind of palate cleanser, where you'll completely forget your last read not necessarily because you want to, but because your psyche is now wiped clean and you can't help but be fully engaged reading every page of this well-written book. Now I will wait ever so (im)patiently for the conclusion and in the meantime will happily give Cruel, an incredible necrosis of the mind a disturbingly good 5 stars!

    Tales Of A Bookbug

I had been waiting for this book for more than a year and let me tell you it was definitely worth the wait! Trisha Wolfe is one of my go-to authors in dark romance and I've ended up loving every single book of hers that I've read(almost everything that she's written lol). So, I jumped into this story the minute it dropped on my kindle and I was hooked from the very first line! Trisha Wolfe is one of my go-to authors in dark romance and I've ended up loving every single book of hers that I've read(almost everything that she's written lol). So, I jumped into this story the minute it dropped on my kindle and I was hooked from the very first line! Cruel follows the story of Blakely Vaughn, whose job is to exact revenge on behalf of her clients(for a fee of course) and Alex Chambers, a biomedical scientist, who for his own reasons is obsessed with finding out a cure for psychopathy. When a common prey causes their paths to intersect, Blakely becomes the new target for Alex's obsession and while he accompanies her on her revenge job, she is also slowly pulled into the web that he has created. What would happen when a woman who lacks empathy meets a mad scientist obsessed with finding a cure? You'll have to read the book to find out! ;) This book took me on a crazy, rollercoaster ride and each chapter had me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next! The thing that I love the most about Trisha's books is her writing! It's hauntingly beautiful and always pulls me in till I'm completely submerged. And her characters are so unique and multi-faceted! You can never completely figure them out as they'll leave you guessing about many things. Both Alex and Blakely are very powerful and enigmatic. They're cruel to others and to each other which is what makes them the perfect match. You never know who is the hunter and who is the prey. Who is the catalyst and who becomes the fuel? Even they themselves can't figure it out. They were destined to go on this road from the moment they met each other and the chemistry between them is explosive! "Thinking of Blakely as a soft, delicate flower makes me smile. She’s neither soft nor delicate." Neither of Alex or Blakely's actions could be classified as right or wrong, but they drew me into their story completely with their narratives. Blakely is quite different from the usual heroines that we come across and that is reflected in her actions. She's not a character that we would root for that easily, but I loved how the author managed to make me fall in love with her! And Alex may look saner than Blakely at first, but he's just as twisted as her!  I was unable to put my kindle down until the very end and guess what? It ends with a cliffhanger! (*cries*) I found the overall atmosphere of the book a little similar to the author's other series - Darkly, Madly duet(which is one of my faves along with her Broken Bonds series!). Both of them have twisted characters that play mind games with each other! And some events link these series together. So, is it wrong to hope for a Grayson-London cameo in the next book? ;) If you loved that duet, you'll definitely fall in love with Alex and Blakely's story! And if you haven't read any of Trisha Wolfe's books yet, what are you waiting for? *An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review* You can also find my reviews of the author's other books here : Lotus Effect With Visions of Red

And based on her current target, Ericson Theodore Daverns, that payback is probably warranted. Blakely's methods are methodical, and some may say, downright cold. She gets the job done no matter what. She's apathetic, that is clear, but does that make her psychotic? In Alex Chamber's mind, it does. Alex himself is out for revenge. His goal to "fix" people who have psychotic tendencies, as a way to avenge the death of his sister at the hands of a serial killer. But are Alex's methods and goals proof of his own mental instability? In my opinion, hell yes. Can Alex "fix" Blakely? Or will he create a monster? That is for the reader to discover. While I enjoyed the dark cat and mouse game these two played, I could have done without the steam. Given the circumstances, I wouldn't label what these two had as romance, maybe built-up lust. But it doesn't didn't seem to fit into this storyline and could have waited, imo. That said, I'm eager to see where things lead with these two nutjobs. For more reviews, visit

Blakely is a fearless woman born with cruelty in her veins. She thrives off of watching men crumble. Blakely has an innate ability to read people and she’s astute in her observations of people. She’s sharp and resourceful. Blakely likes her solitude and doesn’t need intimate connections from friends or family. I’m no stranger to Trisha Wolfe’s work. Everything she writes is a hit on my list. She’s a best selling author for a reason. Cruel is a phenomenal psychological thriller. I want more. I need it. This was pure evil genius. Trisha brings a fresh new concept to the psychological thriller genre. Her concept is original and fresh. Her writing style is dialogue driven and to the point. Everything she brings to this book drives it forward. It’s a steady pace of intense activity. It’s clear she spent hours of her time researching. It’s evident in the way she wrote Dr. Alex Chamber’s character. I knew from the first chapter this was the perfect investment. Trisha never steers me wrong. Her books are always entertaining. This one was a notch above the rest with its wickedly toxic characters playing mind games with each other. It was the best mind [email protected] I’m by no means a writer. I struggle to formulate adequate words in my reviews to express how much I like this book . Trying to convince other readers that this is a solid read is not my forte. For me Trisha is a sure thing. Firstly I want to say I love Trisha's books. I've read a lot of them and most I believe have been 4 star reads. So when I saw Cruel a few months back then found it the other day on Kindle Unlimited (So a free read if you subscribe) I had to start it right away. I just could not connect at all with Blakely or Alex. I found the idea extremely interesting and both the characters were definitely a 'toxic' combination as things progressed. I just could not connect at all with Blakely or Alex. I found the idea extremely interesting and both the characters were definitely a 'toxic' combination as things progressed. I don't really want to give spoilers, but Blakely is a psychopath and basically Alex thinks there's a cure for that. It's twisted and a little dark, I won't lie there. And I found Blakely VERY interesting to read about. To have a main character with no empathy or emotions was really cool, plus unlike many books she was a woman?! A woman?! Not some manly, deranged man, no. It was a good idea. I just don't feel that Alex was maybe right? I certainly felt his attraction, but with Blakely not having those correct neurones it was hard to feel much with regards her 'non emotions' and just 'actions'. I literally read this book over 24 hours and won't say the story didn't keep me invested. I won't say I didn't like both Alex and Blakely either. There was just something about this book that stopped me feeling my usual, 4 star love of Trisha's work. I'm not slating it. I'm not saying Cruel is a bad book. Honestly.. I think it's not what I was expecting. I noticed at the end it mention Malady which is book 2 and due out next March (Jesus that's a year away and I'll end up having to re read Cruel probably if my 40 something brain can't remember it), maybe reading that will make me feel more into this one? I'm unsure. Either way it just wasn't a 4 star read for me and more of a 3 star. Sorry! Don't hate me! I just didn't feel the same about this one. As I said it's on Kindle unlimited so a free read for those who subscribe.

Okay y'all this book was so worth the wait on em gee! I have always loved author Trisha Wolfe's books and this one was no exception. An utterly spellbinding mind blowing read! This psychological thriller had me on the edge of my seat and my heart pounding so hard. And my mind questioning who is the disturbed one. He left me wondering was he always like this. Or did the circumstances of his loss lead him down the dark dark rabbit hole he chose to go down in. Blakely is also interesting. She differs significantly from the definition of what “normal” is supposed to be. But by the end of the book Ms. Wolfe had me questioning what is normal? Does having the title of Doctor make the actions more acceptable than someone without it? Does trying to “fix” a personality defect justify what is wanted as an outcome? Would I rather be the doctor or the psychopath? Just some of the few questions that was going through my mind this amazing author had me questioning and thinking about. And now I’m anxiously awaiting the next book to see how Ms. Wolfe will end this twisted tale.

He's a scientist on a mission, and in her he sees what he seeks. They become the people they need to be to get results, but can they see the truth in each other...? This is part one of a necrosis of the mind duet. An introduction to something that will not only mess with your mind, but leave you questioning every last word that you just read. There's predators and prey, victims and villians but which is which and who is who. This book made me pause and doubt my first impressions and I don't think that's ever really happened before. I know there's two sides to everything but this book really highlighted that for me. Before and after, a glance and a stare. Will you see what I saw, feel what I felt for them. Blakely the poor rich girl who hands out justice like the rest of us eat hot dinners and Alex the mad scientist who knows no limits. Who is right, who is wrong is there even such a thing...? This is either a read of true brilliance or a brief moment in time where I've lost my sanity either way it works for me!

Cruel is another fantastic book by this author, who once again has me questioning everything I thought I knew about these multifaceted characters she writes so skilfully. Dark psychological thriller, with a side of obsessive love, it’s truly mind blowing and I loved it. Alex and Blakely are complex characters and the power struggle between them in the beginning had me on the edge of my seat. The inner workings of both their minds, together with their personalities, is fascinating. The inner workings of both their minds, together with their personalities, is fascinating. Who exactly is the sane one here? Neither, both? Just when I thought I’d got the measure of them, everything was flipped on its head. Are they doing the wrong thing for the right reasons or are they such monsters that stepping over the line of morality is inevitable? Whatever it is, neither of them could’ve foreseen the consequences of their actions, the proverbial spanner in the works, when their paths crossed in the way they did. It’s a wild ride and I loved every minute of it. This is book one of a duet and so Alex and Blakely’s story is far from over. I absolutely love this author’s storytelling and she’s promised more dark and twisted to come in the final book Malady. I cannot wait.

I was soo excited to read this book but it turned out to be so heartbreakingly disappointing, because I loved Born, Darkly, and I thought I’d love this too because the premise looked really enticing, but I just couldn’t connect with the characters. Sigh. The writing in this book was immaculate, as always, but I found the characters bland and...lacking? They both had interesting backgrounds and their own toxic traits; one is a psychopath, the other is a biomedical scientist. The plot was well executed but I found myself skimming most of the chapters because the characters had no chemistry and too much of the psychological talk started to hurt my brain, not to mention the fact that there was no romance until after 60% of the mark. Romance usually takes a backseat to the psychological aspect in her books, and it doesn’t usually bother me, but by the time Alex and Blakely decided to give in to their temptation, I’d already lost interest (and a few brain cells) Anyway, I’m upgrading my rating to three stars simply because it’s Trisha Wolfe and because the plot got mildly interesting toward the end and I’m kind of excited for Malady *goes and hides in a corner*

I'm not totally sure I know where to start this review. I have a ton of work to do and can't stop thinking about this book. How far is too far? Alex Chambers is a doctor with a secret. And he's on a mission...all in the name of science. I wonder? Which one is the real psychopath? The word itself stirs up all kinds of emotion in a normal person's mind, but is this mental condition the real issue? or is it what the person does with their life the issue? I've been a long time fan of this author and she never disappoints. This book will make you examine things no sane person should and will make you question exactly who the real villain is in this story. Even though this book is what I would consider short, it didn't feel that way to me. This is not a close the cover and move on....no, this one will make you ponder and reconsider long held beliefs. Although I'm not a huge fan of cliffies, the author takes a natural break and the reader won't be left hanging over the edge, however, I am anxiously awaiting more.

Wow! What a ride this book was. It was so good and exceeded all my expectations. I loved everything about it, the writing style, the developing relationship between Blakely and Alex and their decent in to madness. Or maybe love? Can two monsters fall in love? I was so desperate to see where the story was going and I loved Blakely she was unlike any other heroine I’ve read before. She’s different and unpredictable, and I loved that. And Alex, I’m not sure how to sum him up. He was complex, dark and so intense and intriguing. He sucked me in and seduced me the way he seduced Blakely. I CANNOT wait for book 2. This book has left me seriously hungover. I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Cruel by Trisha Wolfe is deeply dark, angsty, savage, wickedly intense, twisted and not for the faint of heart. Know now that the things in this story will blow ya mind!! There are several twists and turns that take place which involve Blakely & Alex so at the end of the story , you are left at the end on a cliffhanger to wait for book 2 to find out what's going to happen next. I hope that the questions raised will be answered. This certainly was quite the mindfk! Good reading 📚 My Review: 4.5 stars ***********

I wish I could give this more than 5 stars. Wolfe killed it with another harrowing, twisted romance. Blakely comes from family money, however, she has turned her back on it all to make her own way in the world. Hang on tight, you are in for one heck of a ride! I cannot wait for Book 2!

This author takes the levels you thought you knew for psychological thrillers and just obliterates them. When I finished this book, it was honestly like fireworks were going off in my head, that’s how blown away I was. Psychopathic characters you can identify with? Trisha you crazy gal I love you for how well you write! The story was unlike anything I’ve ever written, and this book was truly helpful in reminding me that this author is, and forever will be the queen of mind games. A must read!

Strap on your seatbelt cause here we go again!! Down a beautifully twisted path that only Trisha Wolfe can create. To say I enjoy being back in this dark world is an understatement. Alex is a scientist who's goal is to cure psychopathy. He has a checklist, 5 dead previous test subjects, and is on the hunt for his next experiment. This one, he's sure, will be the one. Trisha did it again!!! I went in this book blind, but I was soooo surprised of the direction it went. Alex and Blakely, oh man they are two magnets that they will not get away from each other. So good! I can always tell Trisha does her research as what she writes seems believable. Very well done as I can't wait for the conclusion. If your into suspense/thrillers you really should read all of Trisha's books. I just love her men's POV's as well. Plus, I really love this cover!!! I received this boo Trisha did it again!!!
