The final leg of Gungren's three-part Fate Quest has been set in stone, and it's a doozy. The Ultimate Dragon Fighting Championship (UDFC) only occurs once every ten years. This is the 100th running. Plus, the reigning champion, a dragon known as Crazell, can hit a milestone of twenty-five consecutive title defenses if she can pull in another win. The Fate known as Heliok has entered Gungren into the tournament and the little giant must do his best to take home the prize. This is a problem considering that Gungren is not known as someone who enjoys hurting others. On top of that, there's a mob boss who has one of his own fighters in the match. As a general rule, crime bosses don't like to lose, meaning he'll go a long way to make sure his contestant comes out on top. Translation: There's a lot of danger in Gungren's future. While he doesn't have to actually win the tournament, showing up at all is a dicey situation. In fact, there's a better than average chance that he'll end up in the Afterlife during his first bout. But Gungren has little choice in the matter...unless he wants to turn back into a big dumb giant and lose his dream of becoming a full wizard once and for all.

Of the Tales from the Land of Ononokin series, The Ultimate Dragon Fighting Championship is my favorite. Again Gungren is thrust into a quest, this, perhaps, the most dangerous of them all. The usual characters are there to support him and most of the main characters in the rest of the series have cameo appearances. The UDFC brings out the best (and the worst for some) in each of the characters' traits. There is more depth than in the previous books. As with most series, you will enjoy UDFC more if you have read the previous novels, but there is enough backstory provided to make it a good stand alone. Though I read this on Kindle, a complimentary copy was provided to me by the authors. I was fortunate enough to win a contest to have a choice to "be" a character in the book, and to provide a bit of input into naming the character and suggesting character characteristics. If you read, look for the marvelous Homer Melvin Durfitz, that is me....well not really...you get the idea.

Gungren FTW! Gungren has been one of my favorite Ononokin characters since the start. It’s been fun to see him overcome obstacles without taking the easy way out or compromising who he is. A worthy conclusion to this arc and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next.

The third and final quest for Gungren. This one really completes the mini series, you cant help loving Gungren, you are cheering him on every step of the way. Love how this book brings so many characters from the Ononokin world, who we met in other books, back for a quick visit. As always the humour is brilliant, the quips and comments 'top notch' The third and final quest for Gungren. Will he complete his quest at all (after all we are taking about taking on a dragon here). Will The Fates convince the inhabitants of Ononokin that Fates actually exist? Why do I care what happens to The Fates?....This story is about Gungren. These answers and more can be found within The Ultimate Dragon Fighting Championship (except the one where I care about the Fates of course. That's just a personal opinion).

Best Quest yet! This is the best quest yet for Gungren and Whizzfiddle and that's saying something when the first one in the Quest of Undoing was so good to start with and the Kidnapped Prince and Saving Major Wiggles in between were even better. It would probably work best if you had read the previous books but actually it wouldn't be essential as enough is explained, they may just make you want to go back to them afterwards. There are always multiple stories throughout the Ononokin books and the only difference with this one was that it was bigger and better with more characters both old favourites and new and some of them who probably remind you of people you know?! If you like Discworld and/or Monty Python (I love both), or even just to laugh out loud when reading a book, then I recommend given Ononokin a chance but be warned you may get hooked?!

Gungren is back! I love all of the characters in the Ononokin series but I have a soft spot for Gungren. Something about him makes you get behind him 100% and just really want him to succeed in the final part of his Fate Quest. John P.Logsdon and Christopher P.Young have created a World that i wish we could physically step into for a visit, what an experience that would be! This is the final episode of Gungren's Quest to qualify as a wizard and avoid turning back into a full-size giant, and definitely my favourite Ononokin book so far. Many familiar faces make a reappearance - and this time there are Dragons too. The Fates interfere as usual, with a little help from reality TV and a mob boss. You don't need to have read the previous books in the series, as everything is explained, but once you've read this one you will want to go back and read the others! All the Ononokin books are fabulously funny but Gungren is my favourite of all the characters and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the last of his quests. Slapstick humour abounds and the story is fast with lots of action and twists. Characters from previous books weave their way into the story (sneaky devils), while the combination of magic, technology and comedy is ....well....magic! I could picture this as a TV series. *I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, my opinions are my own*

Wizards, dragons and Gangsters all in one tournament to the death. What could go wrong? Another great quest for Master Whizzfiddle and his apprentice Gungren. The book is well written, funny and entertaining. A great ending to the fate quest trilogy and would recommend all of the Ononokin books as they are great fun and get better with every one. Looking forward to the next book in the series already.

I've loved every one of the Ononokin Series. The world building and character creation is excellent and every story has had me glued to the page from beginning to end. The books are full of fun and humour and all with a very well thought up storyline. I've loved every one of the Ononokin Series. Another excellent book by Mr Logsdon. If you haven't enjoyed the "Tales from the Land of Ononokin", grab the series. This is the conclusion of a three part story within the series.
