The plan goes awry when she meets wolf , she usually deals with humans. The wolf has sex with her in a public bathroom and declares that she's his mate, his pack comes in to help and they decide she's their mate as well. She skedaddles because she is not about to become entangled in their drama especially since sirens are an endangered species and would be hunted if anyone knew they still existed. The alpha of the pack pleads with her to return when he notices that his pack mates are acting feral, she agrees to help out and meets him. Only he totally ambushes her, he has sex with her and then mates with her, she is upset with him because she didn't want to , even though she enjoyed it she is upset and he never showed any kind of remorse. He then starts assigning who's going to have sex with her next. I kid you not, there was an order they all had to have sex with her and no one was allowed to do it without the alpha's say so. She was completely overshadowed and relegated to just being used for sex and later on for healing. There wasn't any romance at all. Everyone that came close to her wanted to have sex with her and if the Alpha thought it was for the good of the pack then he oks it. I would not recommend.

Ok. Here's the jist of it. The story could have been more engaging and detailed in the right areas. A lot of the details were in the form of over explanations and info dumps. No one cares exactly how traps were set or what building materials were purchased. That just irked the crud outta me. But, the major issues were... where is the internal conflicts of the FMC? The story starts off about her and it's decent, and then quickly changes to every other person but her. Everything about her, past the Ok. Here's the jist of it. The story starts off about her and it's decent, and then quickly changes to every other person but her. Everything about her, past the halfway mark, is all about following the Goddesses orders in blind faith. There's no questioning it on her part, just her getting all those in the pack to believe. Which all that? It fell so flat. There was a legit deadline/timeline that the main Alpha mate was sticking to, so it was all terribly rushed, but I didn't "feel" the sense of urgency. Sure, it was written that it needed done, but there was a disconnect in evoking a response or the emotion as a reader. Claim him, claim him, claim her, claim her... lots of sex throughout. Half of the time it doesn't make any sense. It's like, guy/mate listens to his inner wolf, 'you have to claim them, in this particular order, so I'll send them up to wham bam thank you ma'am in a chain'... OR 'she's just standing there, let's get it on.' There is no depth to any of the characters after the first couple chapters of the book. A lot of the men, "sound" exactly the same. they even use the exact same wording or phrases. Even when there is an attempt to get to know their personalities, it's overshadowed by events of sex or the mission surrounding the plot so it's completely overlooked. As far as writing style? It wasn't that pleasant. Constantly, I was checking who was saying what because of how big a monologue the characters were dishing out. I'd forget if it was actually voiced or was thought, because it was equally ridiculous or pointless if it were spoken. The fact remained, paragraph after paragraph of looking for end quotations telling if the person was STILL talking or if it was him just thinking. I won't even go into the rape... it was "half-hearted" in my opinion. Easily forgiven by the FMC and completely facetless. Oh, and there is a prophecy in there somewhere... which is probably equally ridiculous as half the story's execution. I'm sure parts of it were mentioned, but it didn't have much of an impact to stick with me. To sum it up, it wasn't a good read. All the sex, talking a dozen plus scenes, lost all their appeal from the start of the claim-fest. I would have been equally as happy if each encounter after the first two of claiming was written as "throughout the night she spread her legs and claimed the rest of her six mates." If that was said and the rest of those pages were filled with something more meaningful, I would have rated it 3 stars. Which isn't saying much with the 2.5 I'm giving now.

Wow. This book was absolutely bonkers. She is the fated mate to 8 guys and has to seal the deal with them in 2 days. There was nothing but sex in this book. The guys didn't have any conversations with the girl that didn't involve sex. She was basically a background character unless she was having sex with one of them. She gets pregnant knows immediately and is already showing in 2 days. She had no personality other than the annoying she was at the beginning of the book. Wow. This book was absolutely bonkers. I’ve never read a reverse harem novel, so I was curious, and this lovely book didn’t disappoint. Lots of action, intrigue, and many twists will keep you on the edge of your seat. There’re intense romantic scenes as well, but I particularly love Catriona’s inner struggle, her search for a balance between protecting her people, her mates, and fighting for her life. Strongly recommend it.

There are things that took me by surprise, made me flinch a little, were wildly out of my comfort zone, made me really happy, weirded me out, made my heart ache... I ran the full Gambit of emotions multiple times throughout. There are aspects of this story and the characters that are rather unique, which is hard to find with the abundance of paranormal romances on the market. Any author would be hard-pressed to find something truly unique to write, but I believe Jade Thorn has. Some of the events that transpired, I really didn't like. Some absolutely horrified me. Those situations and their fallout don't get dealt with, emotionally, by the characters (as several other reviewers have mentioned), but I think that's the point. I'm angry and Catriona is angry. She's furious about this incident (rightfully so), but there's sort of an explanation (weak but semi-logical). So...Catriona is torn and I'm torn. I'm experiencing this entire emotional roller-coaster WITH her rather than looking on from outside of it all. Nothing can make what's happened OK", but she has to keep moving forward because there are other things, wonderful and terrible things, that are still happening. She just doesn't have time to deal with it, RIGHT NOW. And sometimes that's just the way the cookie crumbles. I can only hope the author will have the characters delve into it a bit deeper at some later point in the series. These events, also, serve to give us a deeper insight into the effect she has on the men around her. There isn't a crazy amount of character development for a lot of the characters, which is unfortunate. AGAIN, it serves to accent the blur of events and challenges that are rushing forth to greet them, ready or not. It's a little dark, as the title suggests, but not SUPER dark. There IS a warning at the beginning about TRIGGER MATERIAL, but I had to go back to look for it. It's buried deep inside the copyright material and that should change for the next book. It needs to be on its own, where it's really visible. I think if I had seen the warning and been prepared, I might have enjoyed all of the book a bit more. There are a number of editorial misses in there, but that's hardly on the author. Publishers and editors these days seen to think they don't need a copy editor. They do. As it stands, I enjoyed the story and am eagerly looking forward to the next installment in this series.

I'll be honest, I picked this book up because of some of the harsher reviews and knowing this is a first time author. Could some of the issues that several reviewers mentioned have been fixed before print by a team of beta readers? Probably. Finding beta readers in your genre as an unknown, unpublished author is next to impossible. I went into this book with an open mind, since it's the first in a series and the first book by the author. The multiple perspectives didn't bother me. The author coul I'll be honest, I picked this book up because of some of the harsher reviews and knowing this is a first time author. I always kind of view the first book in the series as getting to know the main cast in addition to the plot. This book didn't give a lot of background on the cast except Catronia and Marcus, but we did get insight into the heads of the pack. I'll be interested to see where the rest of the series goes

Sex on wheels Phew that was a steamy hot ride, but there is a story well worth reading underneath the scorching heat. I was thinking a 3.5 stars but the ending earned a four. This series has it all but just needs to slow it all down a tad. It has the potential to be pretty extensive and we have just started. Siren lore in this story was really cool. needed work (to me): The main female character became stale soon after dream sequence. Her personality, which had been layered and intriguing the first half, now became blah. In fact, after getting her last mate, she really didn't say much. She didn't do much. The story really wasn't even hers anymore. So, she went from a strong, lively, and experienced woman who walked on glass and groin checked alpha hole, to a woman who was there to get fucked, give pups, and help other women get pups? Yes, she had a moment or two where I would see a glimpse of her original self. Namely, meeting with Sinclair, the vampire attack, and biting Marcus' nipple. But, by and large, the main character that had sucked me into the story was gone. Her personality and spirit given over to a different persona. The pacing was really fast. I wish that we could have had a few chapters dispersed just letting us get better familiarized with the different characters and their personalities. I actually couldn't keep track of them all, so there were some POV sections, where I'm actually not completely sure which character I'm supposed to be relating to. That really detracts from the story. And unfortunately, the characters that I did remember or that stood out a little better, were rarely seen again ( by main female character). Like Sam and Joe. Marcus was an alpha whole. Every time he would start to redeem himself, he would do something else to piss me off. After a few times (and especially after the withholding of an orgasm) I was just done with his character. Especially, when you had several others who were more concerned with her the person and her well being.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a reverse harem quite as hot as this one. There is a lot of sex in this book between all genders and it’s really well written. The last thing they want is to go extinct. Sirens require sex to feed and when Catriona stumbles across a shifter wolf one night during her hunt, she realises she has set off a chain reaction that she cannot stop. The shifter’s entire pack wants to claim her as their mate and with the chance of the pack going rogue without her, she agrees to help them. Before she knows it, Catriona has been claimed by the entire pack and more shifters are on their way to mate with her. She soon learns she is the subject of a prophecy created by the shifter and Siren gods to help bring the wolf-shifter species back to their former glory. The alpha of the pack, Marcus, finds that his father wants to destroy his new status and pack, intending to take Catriona for himself. Like I said, this is a hot book and the sex is gratuitous throughout. Catriona is a great, complicated character and I hope her character is explored even more in the next book. The story was fast-paced and action-packed so it was difficult to stop reading. I actually read this one in two big sittings! The only thing that made me feel a little uncomfortable when reading Siren was the flexibility of consent. While the sex was consensual, the “claiming” or “mating” sometimes wasn’t and while this is a completely unrealistic situation in real life, it did raise the issue for me. But the good news is that this book does have warnings in the blurb. All the characters were completely untraumatized by these events in the end, but I would suggest some caution for anyone who might be triggered, just in case. All in all this was a super hot read and full of feels and I’m looking forward to reading more about Catriona’s story as tensions rise between her new pack and the enemy, Sinclair.

DNF YUCK This book was heading in a decent direction then the author turned it and twisted it into a questionable consent issue. It was too blurry to actually figure out. I am sure it will move forward and all forgiven, but that's what ticks me off. It allows what the heroine considers rape to be turned into true love. NOT MY CUP O TEA. it is hard enough in a rape culture to distinguish lines then this tripe makes it worse. Change that portion of story and I'm sure it would be a good read. No depth and bunch of bad sex scenes I understood that this is the first book for an author and even though I am impressed with the lack of a huge amount of errors which doesn't take away from the story. The main issue I have with the story is that the beginning starts out strong and as soon as she gets roped into going to the pack house - it goes downhill. Everything is rushed - I don't connect with any of the other characters - and we don't have time to cause it is just back to back sex scenes No depth and bunch of bad sex scenes I understood that this is the first book for an author and even though I am impressed with the lack of a huge amount of errors which doesn't take away from the story. Everything is rushed - I don't connect with any of the other characters - and we don't have time to cause it is just back to back sex scenes for half of the book. The story is pretty "light" when it comes to the "dark" description. The main issue is I felt like all the time spent on the sex scenes could have been focused on getting to know each of her 8 mates some. The multiple POV switching is enough to give you whip latch - and most of the time it is just "I need to have sex with her.". If the story pace slowed down and there was more time spent on getting to know the "cast" of the book/series - I would of enjoyed it better. The actual plot is different - but that is all I seem to have is a plot full of blank characters. This book is more like a long erotica story with a little story along to go along all the meaningless poorly written sex. Spoilers: Started this book all hyped about some badass chick who knows what she wants. That is until she meets the wolf pack. Within 48hrs she is raped not once but twice - was given a claim that she didn't know/agree to not once but three times. And then is forced to have sex with 8 "mates". Over the first half of the book is her waking up from passing out from sex, being forced into having sex by a random guy (or guys) who she hardly even knows their name and then passes back out. She is forced to accept that she is now a part of the pack and isn't given time to grieve from having to cut herself off from her sisters and the world. They force her straight into sex again - even with her bleeding feet and not eating food for 48hrs. There are so many mates and POV switching that a few times the person talks in third person or is addressed as the wrong person. You don't really get to know about any of the males and she gets thrown in the background. It's like she is only good for the sex scenes because after the initial few chapters over half of the story is being told in one of the eight "mate" POV. There is no chemistry. No character development. She just is like "hey I am a siren, I just met you, let's have sex (or you rape me) and then you can claim me". The whole time she is mad at the Alpha but allows him to force himself on her whenever (she is having sex with another male) - when they both know she is mad at him. She tells them that she isn't a sex toy and a few minutes later has sex. This happens multiple times. Clearly, she is and just lying to herself cause she doesn't stop any of the sex and when she doesn't feel having it the few times - she goes, eh I am a siren and he's my mate, it's okay that he rapes me. And the lame excuse - I am a siren so having sex almost every waking moment is fine with me even though I don't know you (she even states how surprised she is about not noticing how multiple of her mates look). What happened to the confident sassy chick in the first few chapters? Because right now she is just some sex toy to a pack that she doesn't even know. She doesn't even have conversations with the guys. They walk up to her and has sex with her and then leave again. The book covers a week in time - the first 48hrs being 8 guys claiming her, the next 3-4sh being random fights and conflict that was tbh boring. I actually cheered (and didn't care) that one of her mates died at the end because it wasn't like we actually knew him. "Oh he died" was my exact thought. I am at least glad she didn't claim that she was deeply in love with them all even though a few confessed to her. At least she has that going for her. Edit: After some thought, I changed the review from a 1 to a 2.

Next to the rare female trope, there is another element not mentioned in the summary, which is race going extinct (view spoiler)[ and of course, it is the heroine, who becomes the female saviour with super fertility (hide spoiler)] . The book started out perfect. As a reader, I felt a real anticipation after the first meeting. It was great insofar that it really established the characters, particularly Catriona. She is introduced as a sassy, strong and independent woman, who has no problem telling men how she likes it nor taking matters into her own hand. However, it went downhill from there. From middle to end, the events were rushed and the story and most of all the relationships, were established in superficial, almost a sloppy way. That is not to say that the plot itself was not interesting, as the author does create an intriguing storyline, but it fails in engaging with the readers. As a consequence of the rush of events, the aforementioned connection becomes lost. Furthermore, it not only fails to give depth to the events and characters, but it also feels as if the level of character writing deteriorated . Every now and then, there are good moments, but because everything it happening in this implausible pace, it is the (male) characters that suffer. They have no chance to shine. Instead, they appear one-dimensional and unlikable. Another proof of inconsistencies is Shay. (view spoiler)[ The beginning took such care in introducing her character and her importance that it is really surprising how she is suddenly gone, more specifically, her presence in the book, seeing as she is never mentioned again after Catriona sent her away (hide spoiler)] Overall, the author has shown great potential, which was sadly wasted or failed to implement it. Nevertheless, I will read the second book, because the book was not bad and there is enough hope that it may become better.

Catriona is a Siren. Long thought extinct, she and her sister hide for fear that they will be used and/or killed like their mothers and daughters were in the Siren Wars hundreds of years ago. With her mates and the goddesses of Sirens and Shifters backing her up, Catriona will face her worst nightmare. (view spoiler)[ So the story begins with Cat looking to "eat" by having sex and feeding off her partner's orgasm. She encounters Marcus but gets waylaid by a "stage-5-clinger." She moves on to another bar where she meets with the rest of the original six. She screws Toby in the bathroom, whose wolf tries to claim her. In order to stop him and Joe from going feral, Cat goes to their cabin. She ends up mating with the original six members of the pack (some dub-con here): Marcus, Matt, Sam, Felix, Toby, and Joe. There is a LOT of sex in this book, but it's well written, so that's good! Anyway, Cat dreams of a meeting with the goddess of Sirens (Zaya) and the goddess of shifters (Mara), the latter of whom makes her into a shifter and makes it so she can have "litters" of "pups," though they will always be boys. As sirens can only reproduce by having sex with a man and then having him have sex with another adult woman, thereby turning her into a siren, Cat--who had always wanted kids--was overjoyed--and overwhelmed. She emerges from the dream with healing powers, the ability to increase/grant fertility, and the knowledge that two more mates are coming and three protectors. And that she's pregnant with the babies of Marcus, Matt, Sam, and Felix. The next litter will have Toby, Joe, Scott, and Alex's pups. In the shifter community, the females had been going barren and the packs had fallen out of the old ways. The goddesses chose Cat to help the sirens and shifters. But they must withstand the vicious attacks of Sinclair, Marcus's father. In the final attack, Sinclair's force of vampires and wolves kills one of Cat's mates: Felix. (hide spoiler)]

I'm on the fence about this story. I liked the plot line, but it felt like a big jumbled mess. There are certain aspects of this book that I didn't really care for. After she sleeps with Toby (a wolf shifter she met at a bar), she is forced to come to the house to help him and Joe (another wolf shifter who got scent of her pheromones). If that wasn't bad enough when Sam (Beta to the group) goes to "comfort" her, she continues to say no, but they still claim her. I don't like how the unwanted claiming is brushed off. Catriona even compares it to rape, but explains it away. Then she continues with the entire plan like no big deal. I mean she does put up a fight, but it is drained from her quickly. Pushing passed the issue, I continued to read to see if it got better. While the chemistry and relationship between the characters did get better, I started getting confused with all the guys. Had a hard time keeping them all straight. She ends up mating with eight of them. And getting pregnant by four. I mentioned four above, but can't quite remember the others. Plus she has a few she "claimed", but only as protectors. A few things were left unanswered, but hopefully those will be answered in the next book. It ends on a slight cliffhanger. Nothing too terribly bad, but still has you curious. This story is also told from multiple POV's. You get it from the guys in the harem, the female lead, and even the bad guy. Overall, it was an okay story. I will probably read the second one just to see where it goes and get a feel for the series. I'm not sure if it will be one I recommend, but if it's something that you're curious about, give it a try.

Appalled. I’ve never felt the need to go & write out a review for any of the books I’ve read before (let alone a poor one), but I just had to! (Some spoilers ahead...) Catriona’s nature as a siren makes her body automatically respond to sex whether her mind is in it or not, so when Marcus and Matt both mate with her against her will, her body responds. I could only get 30% through the book before I had to stop out of disgust. They both don’t understand how they did wrong even after she contentiously pours her heart out about being violated and forced away from her sisters (the other sirens). You would think the fact that they share an emotional bond (not just a sexual one) would make them sympathetic and understanding, but nope. Catriona even feels the need to resort to cutting, kicking, punching (etc.) them to get her point across, along with barricading the doors in windows in the room. Yet, the two men still don’t get why she’s upset. She just had her whole life torn apart against her will! Of course she’s upset. I had to skip through both sexual encounters because I felt so uncomfortable, she said no and they took advantage of her nature as a siren. Gross. On another note, the character development was poor. We got no information on any of the men or even the mc and they were already getting “together”. There’s already six men and it’s been mentioned there are more to come, yet we know absolutely nothing about them. The most we got was brief physical descriptions. I’m truly confused on how anyone read this book and saw it romantic or well written. I strongly don’t recommend. I’d rate it 0 stars if I could.

WARNING: SPOILERS Fair warning, my review will contain spoilers. I'm not sure where to start with this. Catriona could have been a great character, but she had no follow though. The guys, Marcus and Matt especially, basically rape her. But it's okay because she's a siren and she secretly wants it, right? She actually says to them that she did not consent. She screams, cries, and barricade herself in a bedroom to get away from them after they claim her without consent. Then, less than 24 hours later she's letting another guy in and starts to claim all the rest of them. Her emotions just gave me whiplash. One of the guys (Felix) dies at the end and I can't really say that I cared. He was one of her guys that didn't believe Catroina when she told them that she was pregnant with 4 pups. Felix actually thought the Catroina, his mate, was crazy. It just completely turned me off him so I didn't care at all that he died. Actually, I never really liked any of the guys. Scott and Toby were okay but the rest were domineering and even a bit rapey at times. There's a lot of plot packed into this book. I'm interested to see where the story goes in book two but I'm not sure if I'll read it. The borderline rapey sex scenes really made me uneasy. I won't read book two if that seems to continue. Bottom line, this has some issues and could potentially be triggering. For that reason, I can't recommend it.

In awe, sheer awe....... just, WOW! MUST READ There are no words adequate enough to represent the the sheer force behind this book. All of the leading characters, especially The Treasured One, are so full of passion, life, loyalty....so many words but so little space to put them lol I didn’t think I would like this book, I embarrassingly passed it up multiple times, but thought “what the heck, just give it a try” SO happy I did! I was SO into the book I didn’t realize when I was even swiping to the next page! Please release #2 before I have siren withdrawals! The attention to detail & the back story/history bring it all together to become one damn fine novel that I recommend to all! *sigh* I know I’ll be praying nightly for my own fated mate or mates 😉🤫😘 hey a woman can dream can’t she?! In a world full of disaster, dishonor & cheating, it’s a breath of fresh air to escape into this world & become the characters.... at least until you hit the last page lol The author has my absolute respect 💕

This book started out really interesting, I've not read book where the main character is a Siren and it was nice to get to know Catriona as she stalked her food source (sex). When she accidentally selects a wolf as a mark, her carefully hidden species is exposed and she is pulled into the packs world and politics, which she has been hiding from for centuries so that her kind aren't persecuted again. I loved getting to know Catriona, but about a third if the way in it felt like all she did was constantly have sex with the wolves, one after another (see power top-up), and all they did was try and force themselves on her (the claiming pull). Luckily, this didn't continue and the guys personalities started to come out and she was seen for the gift she is rather than a sex-toy to be passed around (lots of consensual sex though). Then the wolf politics kicked in and Marcus' (Alpha) dad decides he wants Catriona at any cost and all hell breaks loose - then the book got really interesting! Can't wait to see how it all continues in book 2!

Consent not needed This book has so much wrong with it that I'm not 100% sure where to start. I guess I'll start with the basics and leave the spoilers for further down. She lets the men treat her like a sex toy after specifically saying she's not one. She falls in "love" with men who mated her against her will, again in 48 hours. None of that is characteristic of a supposedly strong independent person and none of those things should be portrayed as ok in today's society. I've added ms. thorn to my list of authours to Never Read Again.

2 stars My thoughts are essentially echoing other people that have left reviews, since I also feel like this book was doing well for a few chapters and then slid into the deep end. At first it seemed like a funny CM Stunich kind of campy read, but then quickly turned into weird repetitive sex scene after sex scene, with all the work that the author did to develop immediately falling away. Also, her time on the wolves’ property began with an issue of consent that was noted by the distressed FMC, but for the most part it doesn’t come up again, or at least not in a way that I found to be particularly interested in exploring the implications of that problem. This could have been a great book if the FMC was more developed, which I think only could have happened if she got rid of the 12 other points of view and focused on the person we started the story with.

The men don't seem to understand emotions and why she is afraid and hurt by their actions. They take advantage of the fact that she is a siren.
