Hella cute plot and characters! Zylith is my spirit animal and I love her fiestyness. August 30, 2020 Update! The operator robot thing is such a messy bitch. If Zelan and Zylth don’t end up together, in the same world, I’m going to scream.

I still doubt whether I should review webtoons or not, but here we go. First off, the author really likes cliff-hangers (or just driving people insane). The story starts off with Zylith (mc) looking for a cheap place to rent after getting kicked out by her parents. Unfortunately, her budget is very limited, so the best option she finds is a flat that is supposedly haunted. As she doesn’t have any other doable option, Zylith signs a yearlong contract and moves in. And here’s where the fun begins. Th I still doubt whether I should review webtoons or not, but here we go. Unfortunately, her budget is very limited, so the best option she finds is a flat that is supposedly haunted. As she doesn’t have any other doable option, Zylith signs a yearlong contract and moves in. And here’s where the fun begins. The premise is intriguing, and the heroine spends the first 20 episodes trying to figure out who the mysterious guy she sees is, but the moment they interact the plotline starts meandering. This was one of the most confusing romantic triangles I’ve seen in a while. The MC has feelings for both the mysterious guy, Zelan, and her childhood bestie, Verose, so there is no proper development in any of those. I personally couldn’t even root for anyone. Yes, Zelan is ‘hot’ (or we just see him shirtless a lot), but this wasn’t enough for me to like him or root for his relationship with Zylith. This Webtoon really focuses on the visuals rather than on the story or relationship development. There were a lot of clichés, as expected. The mc used to be that typical rich girl, who thought you could buy friends with money, but Verose (her best friend) is an embodiment of the word ‘tomboy’. Both of them had an unhealthy childhood (abusive parents/pragmatic and despotic parents), so now as gown ups they deal with the consequences of it (learning to trust, pursuing your dreams no matter how ‘’dumb’’ they might appear to others is much harder for the heroines). I truly didn’t expect a webtoon to touch on such serious topics. At times it was a bit too melodramatic for my taste. And I really wish the romantic plotline was more coherent. Nonetheless, it was a fun read, and the art was beautiful. Also,+rep for diversity (racial diversity, different sexual orientations) Though, it made me uncomfortable when Zelan (straight) kissed another guy only because Zylith had dared him to do so. ://

I'm noticing a trend on Webtoons of series that advertise themselves as a romance, but fails to deliver. Instead, the comic drags on with no concrete plot in sight. You might get a few crumbs hinting at some sort of attraction between the main character and the love interests to keep you invested enough so that you don't drop the series out of frustration from the lack of progression, but ultimately what you get is nothing of true value or substance. The art can be nice though if you ignore the hideous Sketch up models. I honestly was intrigued by the premise. The beginning had me anticipating a love story about two strangers living in different worlds or timelines and them somehow communicating because their lives overlap due to them sharing the same apartment. What we got instead was a boring, jumbled mess of personal experiences strung together featuring the author's self-insert and a weird feminist power fantasy where the main character and the author's self insert (is there even a difference between them) destroy a**hole men who are s*xually attracted to them. It's just so strange when I see authors fabricate these scenarios where they have to fend off a strong or attractive a**hole who acts like a total d*ck to them and feels entitled to their body. I've seen it in I Love Yoo, My Dear Cold Blooded King, the canvas version of Threnody of the Trespasser, and countless other webtoon series. Seriously, what is with these "romance" authors and having their self-inserts/characters being pursued by a**holes or almost getting r*ped? Is this like some weird Freudian slip? I can appreciate a story that delves into the trauma that follows s*xual assault/attempts and how it impacts a person's life and the process of healing and moving on, but to just arbitrarily throw it in to add drama or fulfill some weird power fantasy just boggles my mind. It's an insult to actual victims because it trivializes their experience for the sake of spicing things up or making the main character seem more attractive, which sounds absurd but just read episode 47 of Freaking Romance. There's literally a part where the transgender author (FTM or female to male) fabricates a scenario where their self-insert (Verose) is pursued by this 6'2" (yes, it's explicitly stated by Verose), bis*xual(?) brute who mistakes her for being a guy and talks about how attractive she is and how much he wants to have "fun" with her rose smelling, fragile framed, twink (no this isn't satire) a**. He literally refers to her as "Handsome thing you." It's so cringey and kind of disturbing. It's a shame because the art can be pretty and the plot had potential, but it ultimately goes nowhere. Hard pass on this one unless you want to read another m*sturbatory, self-insert, mary sue, kinda sorta but sike--not really "romance" webtoon.

It was really good. I love Snailord and personally, I really look up to him. This wasn't a disappointment. I would give it a try if you like slow burn romance/sci-fi stuff. It's a classic Snailord tail and even features some characters from nightmare factory which I was really happy about for some reason. It was really good. Ok so this webtoons art is really good, but story wise, I like the supernatural part, but I still don't know what the main plot is, if there even is a story. Additionally the author is trying to portray her as an edgy mc that aren't like "other girls" but honestly she is a bit slow and I feel like there's no character behind her. Zelan reminds of of jung from Cheese in the trap, we know he's not as sweet as he looks.... but that's it, there's no backstory yet, so I guess my main complaint is I don't see any story really UPDATE JAN 11th 2020 (May have some spoilers) OK so this webtoon just finished! Honestly at this point the only reason I was reading this was for the art. And lets just say it was painful to read. The ending had some of the most cringiest dialogues I have ever read on Webtoon. Like seriously every few speech bubbles Zyltih calls Zelan stuff like “my seaweed softboi”. Like what? Zylith was honestly so bland, and unfunny. The author’s definition of humour is to draw a “funny” face and put some really cringey slang as dialogue. I’m surprised the Author said that humour was one of their strong points. Zylith wasn’t anything thing special, there was no explanation behind her reasoning other than “Oooh she doesn’t know what love is!” Zelan was portrayed by the author as a yandere in certain panels, but than never expanded more on that. At this point he was just there as fan service, where there were so many panels of him being shirtless that were unnecessary. It was never explained either what drove him to do music, what his motivations were, and how he succesful. (Unless it was explained, but it was just so utterly boring that i forgot?) Just like how a lot of parts in this webtoon weren’t developed. The world building, the extra characters, even the romance were all just so bland and uninteresting. Like ohhhh Zylith meets a guy and they know each other for 1 month and bang the last episode is just them railing each other. This probably had one of the worst endings, you could tell the Author just wanted to end it. Overall this webtoon is just about a quirky girl who doesn’t know what love is that meets someone from a different dimension and than BOOM cringey dialogue and scenes of those two. For me this went from a 3 star, to a 1 star. A 3 star at the start is me being nice.

I like the premise, but the characters are just... meh. I wish they would've done something more with how they can see and communicate with each other idea, that's the only reason why it's 2 stars and not 1, lol. A lot of romance webtoons are like this. They will insist that they're ROMANCE. But in the end, they only have some cliché writing with forgettable characters and little to no actual development between the main character and supposed lover. I feel like as an older reader, this comic comes off as a little, how should I say? A little too "young and flamboyant?" From the cover and the synopsis, it seems to be advertising itself as a sexy supernatural read about a "ghost" boy and a girl. I thought it would be more serious but after the first few chapters, I realized the comic is a bit more "funny through the means of memes and slapstick" and sexy is limited to the drawn on abs (which are drawn beautifully don't get me wrong). Though there are more "intimate moments" they tend to be interrupted by some interjection that ruins the mood or the buildup leads to not really the feeling of sexiness but cringe (well then again I won't blame the author for this. He did say that he has trouble writing romances and he is improving) I don't think there is anything wrong with the comic, its good for the laugh and satisfies the guilty pleasures of most romcoms, but it's just simply that. Another romcom, that I will read and like for the time being but probably won't really remember or look back upon. So I rate it as average, not bad as it is enjoyable, but not outstanding enough in my mind. Maybe this is just because I'm no longer in the preteen, teenage stage where things like this seem amazing. I still enjoy reading this stuff as it is a guilty pleasure but it's just simply that. I just prefer snail lord's comedic comics and horror anthologies

This was quite a popular Webtoon, but I could never really get into it. It was entertaining enough, but I couldn’t connect with the characters and the story was just meh. Who would cross dimensions and leave behind their entire lives for one person who you barely know, no matter how hot they are? Come on. Then again, maybe that's the point? Maybe they're supposed to be new at love. Or maybe the author is just really bad at writing romance. The dialogue got really cringe at times too. The purposeful misspellings of certain words to make the characters quirky was just... not for me. I think that Snailords is an incredible artist, but their ideas can come off a little bit scattered. I think the ending of Freaking Romance felt a little rushed and not as well thought out as the rest of the series, and Nightmare Factory was literally just all over the place. That being said, there is always potential to be better, and I think that if they plan to re-release Nightmare Factory, they should consider making their ideas a little less chaotic because I was honestly pretty confused when I read it. Freaking Romance was easier to follow, so I suppose that they have grown as a storyteller since then. I mean no hate towards Snailords, these are just my personal thoughts. And I obviously keep coming back and reading their work so it's obviously entertaining. I am very excited to see what they do next, because their mind seems like a wonderfully mad place, and I am so ready for a new story.

This Webtoon felt all over the place. The tone goes from overly serious to melodramatically cliche romance to borderline-cringe comedy. The premise was so interesting at first and had me hooked + the art was stunning… but the plot and story development is not there. There's too much reliance on Wattpad-like cliches and facebook-type-humor (if that makes sense lmao) to try and sell the story to the readers. It's honestly a shame considering how the first few chapters were excellent and then... you could see the effort completely disappear. I don't really recommend this Webtoon considering the wide variety of stories available on the platform, so if you're looking for a sign to skip, this is it.

SYNOPSIS: Eighteen-year-old Zylith (who loves doodling, mangas, and fictional books) started house hunting, when her father tossed her out from their house, for disobeying to chosen a career of her own choice (yes total typical desi family drama which we brown people faces)- Her realtor told her they are offering a 50% discounted rent because the house is allegedly haunted. She does not freaked out cause (paranormal activities intrigue her) and accepts the deal since she was financially unstable. Nevertheless, the problem starts the day when she moved in to her new apartment, and started to sense extreme paranormal activities. There was an emerald eyes boy named Zelan living in the same apartment who made her feel that she is the one who is invisible (a ghost) – By passing days, she’d tried to wipe off the ghostly incidents by sharing them to her only best friend, Verose, that maybe she is hallucinating. However, Verose was an intellectual, she tried to make her realize the consequences of the creepy situation that (loving fiction is one thing and renting an actual haunted house is another) and told her to move out from there imperatively, but she did not listen to her. Until one day, when she saw Zelan holding her cat Mr Purrfect, the instant she had started to lose her sanity. However, their destiny holds a crossing path to affiliated in a same voyage, maybe? Freaking Romance is one of the first webtoons I read when I discovered comics and Webtoon. Around the end of 2018, I discovered Siren's Lament, well officially that is the first webtoon I read hehe. I don't want to tell a lot cuz I want YOU to read! You will never regret reading it. Rn there are 79 episodes but with some prologue and some extra stuff it's 82. It might increase with the afterwards and new extras after the series finale.
