I knew I would enjoy the illustrations, but was surprised to find I enjoyed the story as well. I, likely, would not have chosen to read this book had it not been available as a Manga Classic. Much love to NetGalley and Udon Entertainment for my DRC. I knew I would enjoy the illustrations, but was surprised to find I enjoyed the story as well. This is my third manga classic of the year and like the others, the first thing I want to say is how cute the art style is! It's so beautiful and warm and adorable and totally brings you into the story. But despite not being as connected to the characters as I would have liked, I did find myself rooting for Elinor's happy ending all throughout the graphic novel. The plot was also filled with a lot of melodrama which is understandable since it's Jane Austen but sometimes it did get a bit much for me and I found myself confused with what exactly was going on. Overall this was an incredibly quick and entertaining read and I totally recommend this if you like classics, graphic novels, romance and drama.

The ARC of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I'm a big fan of Jane Austen. I read all her books and watched every single movie or TV series adaptations. So, when I bumped into this manga I couldn't help but dive into it! The illustrations are really amazing. It was cool reading about Elinor and Marianne and seeing her faces and expressions. This manga is true to the story and gives it justice. I have never read the book Sense and Sensibility, but I am a big Jane Austen fan. If you like Regency novels with flairs of romance and drama (as I do), this is definitely a good adaptation of a book that can provide that and more. When reading this book, I kept in mind that women of that time period had very little freedom and that if one were to go out of this social expectation, it could spell trouble for them. When reading this book, I kept in mind that women of that time period had very little freedom and that if one were to go out of this social expectation, it could spell trouble for them. The two main leads, Marianne and Elinor, are polar opposites in terms of their aspirations for finding a husband and for their personal happiness. The focus of this manga I felt was mainly on Marianne's romantic affairs with Willoughby, which got tedious at times; however, I wished that the story was more on Elinor, as she seemed a far more sensible and likable character. Even Colonel Brandon I would have liked to see more of. Willoughby and Brandon were also opposites of each other and the manga did portray that to some respect. I do feel that Brandon could've been developed more but I suppose his character is meant to be like that in some regard. Edward had so little screen time and I am not sure if that is how it is in the novel but I would've liked to have seen him more, especially if he is the love interest of a lead character. Overall, I enjoy how the creators of the manga did their best to capture the essence that makes a Jane Austen adaptation enjoyable.

This is a Japanese comic book. (It is read opposite of the conventional way) This is an easy read and it has awesome pictures. Short and simple lines make it an easy/fast read. The author gave tidbits of the history and the creation of the characters. Not sure if this has a book version, but that would be an awesome coloring book. Loved the story and the characters and slight changes. Loved the sensible and supportive Elinor. Another JA love story that has two different ways of showing second ch This is a Japanese comic book. Hilariously dramatic, but I truly enjoyed the art and the stripping down of the script. I do love Austen's writing but found Sense & Sensibility, in its original format, overbearing and tedious. This was, at least, amusing and could employ chibi reactions. Hilariously dramatic, but I truly enjoyed the art and the stripping down of the script. I absolutely adored this new and refreshing take on Sense and Sensibility! Having previously read Manga Classics: Pride and Prejudice I knew this was one I didn't want to miss. Instead of detracting from the classic I love so much, I found that these additions only added to the story line and make it more fantastic. In addition, the artwork was incredible! Without revealing any spoilers I will say that each character was drawn in a way that immediately hinted at their character and role in the manga classic. As a reader familiar with the story, I delighted in seeing these characters portrayed in a way brought chills to my skin as I recognized and reveled in the way the drawings hinted to their personalities. All in all, I am sensing a great desire in myself to add this manga classic (along with perhaps some of its sister novels) to my personal collection. What a job well done! **I received a free eARC (so to speak, even though this book is already published) from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

It took me a while to get back into the rhythm of manga as it has been years since I had last read one. I found this to be an enjoyable read but I felt that it did miss a lot of the original book. which is, of course, to be expected since it is in a different form and conveying most of the storey through pictures and dialogue. Being an avid Austen lover this just didn't do it for me but I did enjoy reading it this way.

This is not my favorite Jane Austen book, but the best thing about this story is the contrast between the two sister's romantic sensibilities and how they handle romantic challenges. Marianne is passionate and outspoken while her sister, Elinor, is quiet and introspective. They both fall in love, but show their feelings in very different ways. This manga version just cannot relay the depth of complexity within the characters and in the relationships between the characters. For the most part, I've enjoyed the manga classics series and feel they have done a good job portraying well-known classics - but this one fell flat for me. I actually became bored while I was reading it and couldn't wait for it to be over. The manga classic version of Pride and Prejudice is much better.

This is the first manga I've ever read so I don't know how melodramatic they are in general but I found it to be over the top here. I couldn't help but laugh at it more than once (especially with regard to how they portray Colonel Brandon - all angst and cheekbones!) Still, it's a fun and quick read and gives a decent overview of the novel, although anyone who went from this to the actual text would be surprised to find that Brandon does not lurk in the shadows and the characters don't cry in al This is the first manga I've ever read so I don't know how melodramatic they are in general but I found it to be over the top here. Surprisingly, I enjoyed this version more than the original book. It may be because of the art that it's beautiful. Surprisingly, I enjoyed this version more than the original book. It may be because of the art that it's beautiful.

*I was given a copy of this book from free from Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review. I adore the Manga Classics retellings. I've read more than one now, and they are always crafted with such care, excellently paced, and charming to look at. I didn't enjoy this one as much as others, but when I think about it, that has to be because of the chosen story to adapt, not the creative team responsible. I don't much care for this story, but I'm blown away by how good the Manga is. *I was given a copy of this book from free from Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.
