If you are a fan of Annie Nicholas’ series ‘Not My’ then you will find that this is different. Different but good! Connie is an ex vampire slayer. Her husband, Rurik, is an ex vampire! This is one stupidly brave woman who will do anything for the ones she loves. If you like vampire stories that are action filled with romance on the side then you’ll love this! I have to say that I have never been disappointed with any of AN’s books and this gets 5 stars from me. I just wish that I didn’t have to wait until 2019 for the next book!

I was CONSUMED by this book!!! In fairness: 1) Cliffhanger 2) You should read the previous books in the series first BUT. Once you get to THIS book, HOLY COW!!! This was one of those "I stay up too late, neglect my housework, I'll kill you if you make me try to stop reading this right now" books. Connie was just as sassy and funny as ever. I love how she interacts with the other characters, especially the villains because their rapport with Connie is sort of a "Ah, so we meet again" no, wait I was CONSUMED by this book!!! Tane is one of my all-time favorite characters EVER, and he did not disappoint in this book. But the action. The emotion. The imagery. In my opinion, this is Annie's best book to date. I don't know if I mentioned it, but the story is GRIPPING and flows smoothly and is a total page-turner. This book has inspired me to re-read the whole series. I am DYING to read the next book!!!!

This book just sucked away my entire afternoon. I don’t regret it and I didn’t miss it. Also, a word of warning: this book ends on something of a cliff-hanger. One that makes me almost willing to commit murder to get my hands on the next book. I loved this. I need more, immediately. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.

Love this Angler series and Annie Nicholas continues to wow us with Connie’s ongoing adventures, in Vampire Hook, book 6! I think the reason I enjoy reading about Connie, Rurik, and Tane, is because there is an agonizing love story in every component of each book. I love this series and I was so happy when the author kept m writing it after a long pause. This time is even better because we are back to our original threesome where Connie, Rurik and Tane are struggling trough a normal life. But things are not easy and they are getting even worse, and I so loved the fugitive duo and the meeting with Tane. I am also looking forward to the next book!!!

One of my favorite series of all time is the Vampire Fugitive series. Here, there are characters I have come to know like the members of my own family. Never mind that these are paranormal beings; they are real to me and I love them. I received an ARC of Hook and I couldn’t wait to read more about Connie, Rurik, and Tane. Though they have faced challenges in the past, this one may have been the most heartbreaking and difficult to read. I received an ARC of Hook and I couldn’t wait to read more about Connie, Rurik, and Tane. Though they have faced challenges in the past, this one may have been the most heartbreaking and difficult to read. I fear anything I might say could potentially spoil this book for anyone considering reading it, and I would hate to do that. It’s the mystery of what happened to Tane, and how Connie (told from Connie’s POV) and Rurik strive to save the day, that is the driving force behind this story. Nothing else matters. The only question is, what can they do to reinstate their love connection? Observations about the story: I loved Rurik’s sense of humor. I had forgotten just how sexy and irresistible he was so this book was a good reminder of why I fell in love with him in the first place. Some of the images evoked in the course of this story amused me, for what I believe are obvious reasons. For example, upon awakening, Connie thinks, “My mouth tasted of cabbage and gym socks.” Later, while eating some sub-par pastries, she thinks, “The food tasted like cardboard and sugar had a baby.” A particularly vivid description that made me want to gag was this one: “He wanted to burst my mind like a grape, splitting the shield as if it were a skin and all my gooey insides would spill out…” As the end of the book neared, I belatedly realized that Annie Nicholas was about to leave me with a cliffhanger. Within moments I went from loving her and her storytelling abilities to hating her and her penchant for torturing her readers. WHY?!?!?! I finished the book a couple of hours ago and I continue to be taunted with questions. I’m trying to be philosophical. These are fictional characters and I have a fairly good sense of what might happen next. There’s no reason for me to get so wrapped up and invested in these people! But I am. I guess that’s one of the things that makes Annie Nicholas such a great author. Do I hate her for what she’s done (yet again)? Yes. Do I love her for writing about these characters and creating this incredible world in which they live? Yes. Do I recommend this book? Yes — and this entire series!

She finds the Old Vampire King Dragos and the current King Tane. Tane has no memory of her. She will likely be tortured and killed. Did Maggie escape and is she safe? BOOM!!! What an excellent addition to the Angler Series I have missed Connie, Rurik, and Tane so much and this story was sublime! After reading Maggie's perspective on the events following the vampire attack on their home, this is a real treat to see it from the perspective of Connie & Rurik and follow it further. I was in shock at all the things revealed. "Vampire Slayer" cannot come too soon! I was gifted an ARC in return of an honest review. BOOM!!! The plot of each novel is great, not at all obvious in its evolution. These books can hold you hostage, keeping you glued to the pages, with a perfect balance between romance, suspense and action scenes. Vampire Hook is the 5th book in the series and it’s essential read the previous books to understand the effect of the events that happen in Connie, Tane and Rurik’s life and also for Maggie, the daughter of this triad. Yes, because in this series there isn’t a couple, but a unique bond between three people: Connie human, Rurik ex vampire (we don’t know why and how he turned back to human again) and Tane vampire. The previous book shows what happens to Maggie after the attack on their house by vampires. She manages to run away from a small island in Greece, going and seeking refuge in the States, searching for help, while Connie and Rurik, her natural parents, try to attract the focus of the enemy. Now, in Vampire Hook, we discover in part what happened to Connie and Rurik, but also to Tane, the king of vampires who has always protected and loved in everyway possible his mates and their human daughter who has always considered his. During the attack, Connie and Rurik, in fact, realize that even Tane has disappeared, their attempts to reach his mind are blocked from an impenetrable wall. I really enjoyed the beginning of this new story I went in broth of jujube, it was to say the least brilliant. Connie and Rurik are perfect in their imperfections as people who have been together for twenty years. Everyday life built an invisible barrier between them, they love each other, but their feelings are dull and their problems very similar to ours and all of this makes them very real. Connie has troubles, she always had darkness within herself, she tends to hide them from others and this time she also keeps in the dark Rurik. Then comes the attack, the danger and what really counts come back strongly and fast. Their deep bond, the passion, the love that always linked them is real, alive more than ever, as much as their survival instinct brings back to life all their skills. What made Connie one of the best baits in her group of vampire hunters, and Rurik’s past and knowledge as vampire. During their escape from the enemy, however, they are forced to split up to protect their loved ones: Maggie and Tane. Connie must find out what happened to Tane, Rurik will rejoin with their daughter and then go back to Europe. Now I hate spoilers and I’m not going to tell you things you don’t want to read… the beauty of this story is the journey through the pages, discovering things as they happen, but I need to say something. Connie manages to find Tane in her mission, but bad news awaits her: everything seems to be changed. Or not? Tane has always been my favorite, I love Rurik, he’s absolutely amazing, but the dynamics between Tane and Connie are the ones that intrigued me the most and also the complexity of Tane's character, which over time revealed aspects of him that made me fall in love with him. And this book is a masterpiece as far as he is concerned. He’s so beautifully contradictory: cold, cunning, ruthless with his enemies and full of irony, passion and overprotective towards Connie. And hoot! Scorching hot! No, I couldn’t ask for more. The chemistry between Taneand Connie is explosive, their bond intriguing, their teasing and back and forth are fun to read and the sex ... "fangtastic". The book is not just wonderful because of Tane's presence, it wouldn’t be fair to say so, because even Connie is amazing. I always loved her impulsivity, which always get her in trouble, her brutal sincerity without filters. This time what makes her exceptional is the intensity of her feelings, how she wears her heart on sleeve, despite her pain, she’s strong, tough, very tough and she fights against her enemies. And then she shines brightly for her loyalty to Tane, Rurik and Maggie. I love her. Did i say too much? Read it, you must do it, you'll fall in love with this series, how couldn’t be any other way?

Tane (The king of the Nosferatu clan and vampires) has always been my favorite character from the beginning of the book Bait. When Rurik and Connie's house was burned to the ground my heart broke for them. They had worked hard to live a common life with their daughter even though they had a constant guard of werewolves. Tane (The king of the Nosferatu clan and vampires) has always been my favorite character from the beginning of the book Bait. When Rurik and Connie's house was burned to the ground my heart broke for them. They had worked hard to live a common life with their daughter even though they had a constant guard of werewolves. Big surprise when I read that Eric was alive and now a vampire. I had wondered about it in the book Catch when there wasn't any real elaboration on his death; (Where, when, how, he was buried.). All the leftover pieces from the books before came together when the psycho ex-king Dragos was now suddenly alive. Even more heartbreak was thrown upon me when I read how Connie and Rurik's relationship had slowly grown apart. At that point in the book, I needed them to find their way back to each other and eventually, it starts to happen. Thank God! The tears came when Connie finally sees Tane. At first, you are happy because he was lost and your mind thinks all kinds of bad things but not as bad as what was revealed. He has lost his memories of their love. I read the rest of the book with tears teetering at the edge of my eyelids. My heart was literally pounding as I read the part where Eric was beating Connie in front of Tane and he let him. The same man who would kill anyone who had laid a finger on her before. The same uber vamp that has her portrait where everyone can see it. I admit I had to put the book down and take a reality check. lol. But after a few minutes, I had to know if he eventually remembers the loves of his life. In the end, Connie and Tane's connection is what saves her. He fights Dragos and Connie saves Tane from a wooden stake in the back from Eric. Evidence showing her Nosferatu lover that she was telling the truth when she said she would die for him. He cannot remember her from his past but he feels that she is telling the truth and he feels the care he has for her. This new or possibly older version of Tane is a bit scarier than his former self. I just hope that now he knows she is telling the truth, his memories will come back or it might be Maggie that has to save her adopted father now that her shields are gone. I cannot wait to find out when the next book is published this year. (2019)

Omg this series is just getting better. What has happened to Connie & Rurik? Worse, where is Tane? So many questions that keep us enthralled during this read. Almost perfect ... I just need to know what happens in the end! Wow! What a rollercoaster ride that was. Loved it ! I wasn’t surprised that this is as good as the others in the series !!i hadn’t read the last book in quite some time, but, not a problem - fell right back into it like it was yesterday...I love Connie’s humor, and Ruriks also,Lol. Now all we have to worry about is rotten Drago and Eric....and I WAS surprised this is a cliff hanger - guess I was so happy to have this series back, just didn’t think about it !Lol,it’s all good ! Can’t wait for the next one....!

Enjoyed Good story. Definitely a cliffhanger. Interesting plot and well written piece of the story. It may take several more books to actually get the full story which is why it’s only 4 stars. I liked this segment.

Wow! I will only say that if you have read the previous Angler books and loved them ...... this one was awesome!!! I had a hard time putting it down. Connie and Rurik are in a race against enemies to save themselves, their daughter and save Tane. It is non stop..... loved it!

Enjoyed I love these series of books and can't wait for more. I can't wait for Eric to get what he deserves. I just hope the next book is not that long of a wait. Love this series! I loved following Connies story with Rurik and Tane!! But I'm really looking forward to more of Maggie and Mutt!! I tried to find the next in the series, Slayer, that said released in 2019. But i had no luck , so i guess it's time to stalk Annie... unless she reading this and lets me know :) Love this series!
