Frank’s too busy enjoying life just now to worry about dying. Bucket list item №1 for Frank and his oldest friend, Stan, was the TT Races. They did it, and loved it so much, that now they’re heading back for item №2 on the list – TT Races yet again! The fledgeling race team they’d cobbled together on their first outing – despite moments of definite glory – didn’t exactly Frank’s too busy enjoying life just now to worry about dying. With his unhappy marriage and wallet-draining ex-wife now firmly in the past, Frank is ready for a positive change – time and health permitting. Life in the glorious Isle of Man has rejuvenated him, and he’s now eager, in fact, to make it his home. But he’s not going anywhere unless his mate Stan’s coming, too!

Moat book 2's in a seroes struggle to dulfill the promise of the first. This one manages quite well, brirning ina bit of the history of Frank 'n' Stan. It starts on a dual track. First of all, a funeral for Lee's helper, who had some time with his daughter befire he passed, which cleared up misunderstandings. What seems a paltry funeral is quickly enlarged by 2 busloads of homeless men, outfitted in thrift store suits, who form a military style escort of their friend to his final resting place. Next, the titular characters have decided to buy a house on the Isle of Man, close to Henk's place, large enough to have guests. Stella is made a minor partner to run the place while they're away. Stella has an assistant of sorts who is capable of running the place when needed. Lee is using the office for the charity's work, something no one had the courage to tell Stella, but which Lee smooths over. And Stella has a fella in this book, but I'll leave you to read it to find out who. On their way to the Isle of Man, their flight starts out with a rudely self-important businessman throwing hos weight around. A series of mishaops leaves the man's blazer, which he has left by their seat to give himself more space, with a stream of milk on the back, and inadveertantly, someone else's prescripton in his coat pocket, due to a name mix up. Stan has heard of an auction for a farm near their new place, so they go, and Frank bids way too much on it, but even his bid hasn't net the minimum acceptable bid. The angry, self-important businessman gets there too late to bid, but somehow manages to own the place anyway. He sponsors a lot of racers in many motorsports and has entered 2 men new to the TT races but still experienced in sidecar races, into the TT. He and the Dutchman from the last book end up drunk & bet a considerable amount on the outcome of the TT. Drunkenness is behind a great deal of eventual mischief. The top 2 teams end up with injuries and jail time, their competition in doubt. It all works out surprisingly well, with one oerson's secret intact. There is a parallel story of Frank and Stan as high school stidents in a tough school, a close call for Stan, a change in after-school plans for both, a discovery of an unknown talent, and how they met Stella. All along the way there are laughs to be had, tender moments, tense moments, and of course, they hyping of the TT races...the reason why their bucket list started and ended at one item.

Funny, amusing, and dare I say it, different, I say that because the TT is not something usually found in a novel, especially the sidecars, so for Frank to have this on his bucket list was 'fresh' my son also does TT sidecar racing which I've never really understood, Frank and Stan have now made me see the light! I have also read the 2nd book which is a must if you enjoyed this one. A year on from the first book and we are straight back in at the TT. Frank and Stan up to interesting antics again at this year's event. A few strange flashback chapters in this one that I felt didn't really fit with the overall story. They may be building up to something in further books in the series. Stella her usual diplomatic self and not forgetting Dave, Monty and Henk. A great second book back with all your favourite characters up to no good in the Isle of Man during the TT.
