Maybe spending the Christmas holiday with her aunt and uncle will help her sort out her future and solve a family mystery. This story had me from the very beginning. The English countryside is a great place to set a story, especially one that deals with folk magic and tradition. From page one, I knew I was being taken to a world that most readers would love to visit. A lovely estate home? Hell, yes! Nobody’s going to argue with that. From page one, I knew I was being taken to a world that most readers would love to visit. A lovely estate home? Hell, yes! Nobody’s going to argue with that. Heroine Eve has returned to the estate of her aunt and uncle, where she spent time as a child, and where she vividly remembers a legend that she's never been able to forget. Her plan to learn more about the legend is complicated when, instead of immediately stepping in to offer help to her historian uncle (a circumstance that will also allow her to research the legend), she finds that her uncle already has an assistant. Set on displacing the interloper to take his coveted place, she finds herself distracted. There's something mysterious about him and his flirting has her off of her game. When strange things keep happening, her research into the legend takes a back burner as she scrambles to navigate new mysteries in front of her. By the time she figures out it's all connected, it's a matter of life and death.

The mystery surrounding Lydbury Manor and Eve's story immediately drew me into this book! From the opening chapter, I loved Eve's sympathetic Aunt Vivian as well the intriguing research her uncle conducts. I also took an instant interest in Liam (swoon!). From the opening chapter, I loved Eve's sympathetic Aunt Vivian as well the intriguing research her uncle conducts. I also took an instant interest in Liam (swoon!). Eve of the Fae is told from alternating perspectives. You root for Eve as she escapes her previous life, but then you realize, as eventually Eve does, too, that she is becoming more and more entangled in her new life's drama. Eve, unknowingly, is being sucked into a very dangerous (and potentially deadly!) plot. You also hear Liam's perspective and while he is immediately swoon-worthy, you're not sure whether or not to trust him. He's the type of character who keeps winning you over and then pushing you away again. As Eve and Liam are pulled closer together, as a reader, this gave me all the feels and I couldn't wait to see how their intertwining lives would unfold. Eve of the Fae is filled with magic and mysterious elements that keep you turning the pages to find out more about the Fae's world. Most of all, the forbidden romance made me fall in love with this incredible story! I can't wait for the next book in the series!

This is my first book by this author and it drew me it and had me hooked from the beginning! This fantasy/sci fi story does leave a few questions unanswered as it is a series but there isn’t an obnoxiously annoying cliffhanger. I can’t wait for book 2!!! This is the first book I've read by this author, but it won't be the last. I thought that the story and the characters were very well done. This was a book that I didn't want to put down once I started. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. The idea was interesting, the effect not so much. I couldn’t stop my eyes from rolling. The heroine is supposed to be smart but she makes a date with the guy after talking to him for about two minutes. Her aunt should know better but has no problem with giving her name and address to the same man because he’s charming. There is a lot happening but little make sense. Lost potential.
