3 ⭐️ Cute short. I liked Dan and Gil. I didn’t get how Dan could adopt a child without consulting his partner but it was what it was. I struggled with some POV changes throughout the book, but it was n enjoyable hours read

Super short, but very cute. Dan owns the Bear Claw bakery and the apartment upstairs with his teenage daughter Emi. They're cute together and so much alike, but Emi wants her Dad to stop mourning over the loss of his cheating husband three years ago and jump back into life! That's where Gil comes in.... Although Gil is pretty, younger and not usually Dan's type... he's been hitting on him for a year before he's finally had enough. It took a bit for Dan to let his guard down, and I can see why.... but it was more than worth it when he finally did. Gil was good for both Emi and Dan, and Emi and Dan was all Gil wanted. So... too short? Yeah... but I"m just selfish that way... I always want more! Very cute ending <3 4 stars from me!

As this story shows, love doesn’t always have an easy path. With Dan disappointed after a divorce due to cheating, and Gil hopelessly smitten from the first moment he enters Dan’s bakery, it doesn’t look as though Gil and Dan will get further than flirting. While sweet and cute, this little short had quite a few problems. The premise was enjoyable but as soon as there was a start of delving into the backstory the timeline became extremely murky. Going from mentions of Dan opting to adopt his sister's unborn baby (which was a jerk thing to do without consulting his partner, no matter how much he wanted kids) to saying that things broke up soon after. Yet said baby, Emi, is now a teenager, and they have only been living alone for three years. So his While sweet and cute, this little short had quite a few problems. It seemed there were a few times the backstory was almost revised as the story which going on, which only served to make it even less convincing. This could have been okay if the story was enjoyable in the present, but that was quashed by the poor writing. Long, illogical run on sentences that were often unusual and disjointed were the norm. The few times a sentence was actually shortened or split into two it was done at an illogical point. Between the confusing backstory and the poor writing, the sweet little story going on in the present didn't stand much of a chance.

Meh. I was going to rate this two stars, but as I started to write my review, I realized it really didn't deserve even that.... The whole backstory of of Dan and his husband and his kid was so bizarre and confusing. I was very much unclear as to the timeline of events, and while I in no-way condone cheating, I also don't think it's cool to decide to adopt a child with no input from you partner when it's clear they don't want a kid. Everything about that entire backstory was poorly done. Then you g Meh. I was going to rate this two stars, but as I started to write my review, I realized it really didn't deserve even that.... The author seemed to be confused as to what she was writing, there was no chemistry, and, to nobody's surprise, there was a proposal at the end after they'd been officially dating for a week because it had been 'building' over the past year where Gil was a customer at Dan's shop and tried to flirt while Dan said he wasn't his type. WTF?

Cute story but barely made it to 3 stars for me. As others have noted, it was often confusing whose POV I was reading. There were also more than the occasional editing errors; mostly missing prepositions and articles, but also spelling errors. But the thing that held it back for me was the contradictory feelings Dan presented. One moment he is flat out against wanting to date Gil and the next he’s professing how he’s had this long-term crush on the man. Glad they got their HEA but it was sure a Cute story but barely made it to 3 stars for me. As others have noted, it was often confusing whose POV I was reading. This was such a cute read. Very low angst, no big misunderstandings and sassy side characters (who may or may not be too annoying had this been a full length novel). There were just times when I got confused on who was talking so that was the 1 star deduction.

Such a sweet story of patience, unreturned love and family. I rooted for the characters all the way through until they were finally together and getting their HEA. I think the daughter stole the show, however. ppft!

3 stars. This was a cute short from a new to me author. I liked the cute romance story but, as with all short stories, everything was rushed which was less than perfect. The bratty daughter was a bit much for me too.

I really wanted to love this.I kept getting confused about POV and the flow felt a bit halting. There were also some grammatical errors that i found distracting. I gave it a try from the multi author instafreebie. Unfortunately this one was just so so for me.
