Like many other reviewers, I found this book inspirational! In the meantime, I have checked out some of the blogs discussed in the book. I know it was not meant to be a how to book, but I would have loved to hear about the specific companies they worked with to get their first few hundred dollars. Overall, it was a good read, and I would recommend it to bloggers that are looking for a shot of motivation.

This is an easy to read book that you can breeze over it in a couple of hours. However, if you want to implement the key takeaways into your own blog and business that will take some time and effort. But from the inspiring stories of these bloggers, it looks like it would be worth it. I would have liked a few more specific tips of exactly how the bloggers monetized their sites and grew their email list. Nevertheless, this has helped me to see some things to improve on my my blog, for sure. Note This is an easy to read book that you can breeze over it in a couple of hours. The Essential Habits of 6-Figure Bloggers by Sally Miller was both a pleasure to read and an educational opportunity. Sally delivers information in an easy-to-read style backed by real-life examples from successful bloggers. The tone of the book is almost like personal coaching combined with hands-on actionable guidance. I took 9 pages of notes and wrote down 14 book recommendations to add to my TBR list, and two podcasts that I have already subscribed to. One of my favorite parts of this book is getting a deep-dive look into the experiences and thinking of successful bloggers. I am familiar with some of the blogs and bloggers in this book, but now I have many more to check out and subscribe to for their newsletters. One of my favorite take-aways was that "there is no college of blogging". That is the truth! But, this book comes close to being that college for me. I've read several books about blogging and it was refreshing to read this one because Sally Miller does not include a long beginning section about choosing a hosting site, finding a blog theme, etc. This book went right to the heart of what I have been looking for. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in blogging.

For anyone attempting to build an online profitable blog, The Essential Habits of 6-Figure Bloggers will be an interesting read. The three habits Sally mentions are helpful for the beginner or seasoned blogger. What I liked most about the book is it doesn't present a one-size fit all methodology. My interest in blogging started not that long ago. Not knowing where to start, I did what I have learned to do with every new interest: I searched for a book. I found a few best-sellers on Amazon and bought not one but three books on the subject. The Essential Habits of 6-Figure Bloggers is divided into three sections: act with purpose, create systems for success and believe in yourself. Every section covers a habit. Additionally, each part is broken down into chapters. Some chapters were written as personal interviews where one of the 17 successful bloggers is asked a specific series of questions. These questions include, among others, what is your favorite business book, and why? What strategy or habit had the most significant impact on your blog’s success? What’s your recommendation on outsourcing tasks to virtual assistants? What advice do you have for other bloggers who are struggling to make a profit? Reading the book was enjoyable. Sally Miller possesses a clear and concise writing style that maintained a consistent and interesting flow through the pages. The chapters aren’t very long; some are only three to four pages. It was fascinating to read about other people’s life stories. Most bloggers in this book are mothers who were searching for a way to make a living while nurturing their children. Others were interested in leaving their nine-to-five jobs for freedom, flexibility, and the sense of purpose that comes with blogging. Regardless of their motives, they found the formula for a profitable blog and now serve as proof that it’s possible to create a six-figure business from home. And that’s six figures a month! It’s beneficial to have a book that highlights other people’s successes and failures at your disposal, 24/7, especially if you’ve just begun a journey in the same field. Being knowledgeable about what has and hasn’t worked for others is extremely valuable and, often, inaccessible. Every person’s journey, strengths, and areas of improvement are different. Still, there’s always something that can be learned from someone else’s story, whether it applies to something that you’re experiencing in the present or could potentially face in the future. This book doesn’t cover the technical aspects of blogging. For that, there are other options to choose from on the topic. However, Sally Miller’s writing, in particular, grants you access to six-figure-earning bloggers’ minds, as well as their tips, tricks, habits, and perspectives, to improve your blogging experience. Still, it does scratch the surface on topics like monetization, marketing strategies, blog purpose, and establishing goals. I didn’t particularly appreciate the repetition in some parts. I found myself questioning whether I had already read a specific section in a previous chapter or not, which caused minor confusion. Ultimately, I wouldn’t say that this is an essential reference for every blogger. Nevertheless, it’s a good read whether you are aspiring to become an established blogger, or already are one. Reading The Essential Habits of 6-Figure Bloggers can help you get out of your head and understand that your current struggles and challenges are universal. Whatever you’re facing in your blogging journey, someone else has already faced and conquered that obstacle. In this book, you can read how they did it.

I love how this book boils down to the three things that make up the habit of the successful 6-figure authors. What's even better, Sally also goes deeper on how to make these habits a part of our life. I am going to give this book a solid 4 stars. The book is separated into the 3 major habits of 6-figure bloggers, and then broken down into manageable action-pieces. The secrets and stories of the 17 bloggers are broken down into Q&A chapters, which is really helpful to see the similarities and differences between each business as they had to answer the same questions. Sally Miller also offers a free Beginning Blogger Workbook online as a companion to the 'action steps' that I have not yet started but after scanning it am going to suggest readers who are seriously reading this to help their business to download the workbook and GET TO IT.

Curiosity more than anything made me check this out. I suppose it can't be helped, but right from the start the advice given is way too general, one size fits all. After an intro as to the three takeaways the author found in her research, it's mostly interviews, which really didn’t work for me. I couldn’t care less about favorite business books. And it gets boring seeing the same questions over and over. I’m definitely not saying that this is the wrong approach, only that it didn’t keep me interested enough to want to continue, and so even though this is a small book it felt to this speed reader that it took forever. Once I finished this I figured I wasn’t really the right audience, as I realized I didn’t want to do anything with my blog other than sometimes inform or entertain. This is for people who want to make a living, or at least some money, on blogging.

The only thing that truly bothered me about this book was that each of the interviews is quoted elsewhere in the book, so it felt very repetitive. There were several times where I thought I had lost my place in the book, or I thought she interviewed the same person twice, because I swore I had seen whole sections before. There wasn’t really anything actionable in here but the amount of bloggers she’s interviewed (17!) did go to show that this kind of success is possible and somewhat common and not the result of some virginal sacrifice or blood ritual. She publishes the same Q&A for each blogger so there are also a lot of good recommendations for books and websites to pick up as well.

THIS BOOK WASN'T TOO BAD. Helpful and motivating This was a very easy but informational read. The author packed a great deal of knowledge into the book without making it overly technical. As a new blogger I often get bogged down in the details which prevent me from making progress. Reading interviews of real bloggers who’ve suffered from the same thought process and how they’ve moved forward was a real game changer for me. Awesome read for aspiring bloggers as well as anyone who isn’t reaching their blogging goals.

Very well done, Ms. Sally Ann Miller. A compilation of interviews with and tips from 17 very successful bloggers. Each chapter is formulaic with the same questions being asked of and answered by these 17 awesome bloggers. If you can't learn some useful information from this book then just quit reading now. My only critique was that it seemed directed mainly, but not exclusively, at working mothers (of which I am not one). Very useful none the less. Very well done, Ms. Sally Ann Miller.
