A super-short teaser that was enough for me to continue on to the actual book.

To be a Carolla in New Orleans is to live on the edge. This is three chapters that act as a prequel to the Cherish series. Its a good set up, because it definitely leaves me wanting even more. It is a cliffhanger, so know that you will have to purchase other books to get the full story. This is free though, so it’s kind of a good way to know if you want the other books.

Wow.. What an intense prequel to the Cherish Series! This dark and twisted, quick read left me wanting more. I mean I actually let out a sigh when it ended because I wanted to keep reading about Katherine and what would happen next. Even though it is a very short story it is definitely worth the read. This is the first book in the Cherish series by Olivia Ryann. Katherine Carolla is 18 years old, she lives with her father and three older brothers. Her mom killed herself when she was little so as the only woman in the house she’s expected to cook, clean, do laundry, and entertain guests. She was also forced to fend off her dad’s drunken advances because she looked so much like her dead mother. She’s always been homeschooled and has led a very sheltered life. She wants to experience the world for herself so she applied to four colleges and was accepted into three of them. She’s afraid to tell her father that she’s been accepted to school and wants to leave home because she’ll have to live on campus. Her brother Tony tells her that their father is planning on marrying her off to the highest bidder. Money is tight but would her father really sell her ? Arsen Aetos was eleven years old the first time he killed someone. He was in Cyprus where he was born and in order to become a part of the mafia he had to kill someone. He became a skilled assassin before he progressed upward through the hierarchy of the Cypriot mafia. He’s now the boss in New Orleans handling the day to day responsibilities with his brother, Dryas as his right hand man. Arsen had a Russian mistress named Anna who was tortured, raped, and murdered and her severed head was sent to him. Sal Carolla and his three sons are the ones who raped and killed her and now Arsen must retaliate or he’ll appear weak. He plans to get all the Carolla men in one room so he can kill them all leaving Katherine all alone. He hasn’t decided what he’s going to do with her yet. Will he kill her right away or will he take his time with her ?

Has potential, too short This story seems to have great potential, but the book is basically 3 chapters. I've read many novelas that are longer. I've seen teasers 8n the backs of other books longer than this. Don't give me 3 chapters and call it a book...it's insulting to people paying for a book. I have the chance to read the next book, for free, and will do so, in the hopes that I get an actual book. More like chapter 1! Can't call this a book. Considering how ridiculously short this is, it's full of errors. Hardly gets started. I can't be bothered with these 'books' that are really just chapters you have to buy separately to read a complete story. I'll be avoiding this author. More like chapter 1! Can't call this a book. A 39 page prequel is not a book. This is like an amazon preview. A 10 minutes max read. Author extremely misleading in calling this a book therefore I won’t even continue. Word of advice don’t bother. It’s obvious how the following books will play out. She probably fall in love with her capture so not bothering to even find out sounds like a typical same old read.

There are no spoilers here and there is another review after the final book of this series, as well. I don't normally read mafia/crime family or MC gang romances because the physical violence and mindset of members of these groups relative to interactions within the group, with their enemies, and with the locale they're trying to overlord with drugs, prostitution, and criminal activity goes totally against my grain and I can't warm up to the main characters sufficiently to enjoy the books. I'm not sure why I decided to try this series. Maybe it was to see if I still felt the same way about these books, as I hadn't read one in quite some time. It wasn't at all as negative as I recalled. Maybe this series had a bit less violence, blood and guts than I've previously read, or maybe I've read enough dark stories in the interim; most likely, I really hated the men who died enough that I felt they deserved what they got. Having said this, I generally enjoyed the storyline and, although I felt for the broken lives the Aetos brothers and Fiore had led, I still couldn't fully connect with them. I'm not sure whether that lies in the inherent issues I have which I've discussed above or whether it's due to my not fully connecting with the story in general. Regardless, this series has intrigued me sufficiently that I definitely plan to read the next (Protect) series about Dryas, the oldest brother. Although, in all honesty, the series following that one (Cards of Love), telling youngest brother, Damen's, story is the one I'm currently most anticipating.

This is a short Prequel and we've got a glimpse of how Arsen Aetos and Katherine Carolla story begins. Katherine Carolla is the youngest daughter of Sal Carolla and she have a 3 brothers. Since Kat is the youngest and only female member of Carolla she's also their perfect little housekeeper. But like of all 18 years old girl, Kat is full of dreams and hopes in life. She's very determine to leave New Orleans to go college and experience life since she's home schooled. Carolla family is an old-school mafia, a real true and renowned gangsters in New Orleans and the last of dying breed. To be a Carolla in New Orleans is to live on the edge. Our family motto ls, "A Carolla never quits." On the other hand Arsen who is from Cypriot mafia, an assassin and cold-hearted business man wanted revenge in Carolla since they meddled on his property that leads to his wicked plan to destroy them and that very much include the young Katherine. I was eleven years old the first time i killed a man. As for this series i come to love Kat's character, she is full of determination, so caring, loyal, a bit of naive and innocent, meanwhile Arsen is the epitome of arrogance, power hungry, sex on legs lol XD and a true killer. Ryann delivers the right amount of emotions, well structured words and good building of characters with a mix of an action packed. I can't wait to get to know more Katherine and Arsen and what more Olivia Ryann cook us for the next book. Capture is perfect for all the readers of Dark Mafia Romance genre with an element of captivity. ❤️

The gross vibe her family gives off just made me want to root for her. Not the other hand there's Andres and he's such a mystery. I can't get a true feel on him. Sure he's cold, calculated and clearly vindictive but there's more. You can feel it in the background, almost taste it and that it what has me hooked for the remainder. I'm on pins and needles waiting to see what happens next.

Katherine is smart and she has plans to escape from her Dad's controlling influence, she has been kept out of her Dad's and brother's mafia business, but they basically don't seem to have any respect for her (and probably any other women they know). Katherine Carolla was born into a family she had no control of choosing on her own. The Carolla’s are the current reigning mafia family in New Orleans. Their family is ran by her father Salvatore and her three older brothers. And they’re all a little slimy and bit repulsive. Events unfold rather quickly and Katherine is left to make a decision that could be detrimental in her survival. The prequel ends on a cliff hanger, and within those short amount of pages your already captivated.
