Fall of the Dragon by Rebecca Ethington picks up right where book one of Phoenix's Ashes left off. The tension is palpable on the pages as the dragons and phoenix come face to face with the dragon king for the first time….well at least it’s Ellie’s first time. The plot is faster paced this time, and the stakes seem higher as Ellie learns more about her heritage and what it really means being the phoenix. Ellie and her Dragons I like Ellie’s development in this book. She was a bit immature and nai Fall of the Dragon by Rebecca Ethington picks up right where book one of Phoenix's Ashes left off. The plot is faster paced this time, and the stakes seem higher as Ellie learns more about her heritage and what it really means being the phoenix. Ellie and her Dragons I like Ellie’s development in this book. She was a bit immature and naive in Rise of the Witch. However here she knows more about the shifter world that was kept from her growing up. She makes wiser decisions and is rightfully (and finally) scared of her fate. I also enjoyed how she fought the mate bond. She fights it in the first book, but in reality it was more that she was freaked out by it. In this installment, she accepts the bond and what it means, but doesn’t give into it. Instead she wants to know her dragon mates, what they stand for and how to protect them. Her dragons….Killian, Jarron, and Drake. What can I say about these males? Several reviewers for the first book pointed out how possessive they are. And it’s true, they are possessive. I guess I overlooked that in the first book because, well dragons. Dragons in mythology are possessive creatures with hordes. It stands to reason they’d be the same with their mate. Of all the dragons I can’t pick a favorite. Drake is the sensitive, younger brother who seems to be most intuitive of Ellie’s needs. Jarron is the ladies man and can’t seem to help himself with the flirting. He really does it just to see Ellie smile which in turn makes me smile. And then there’s Killian. If you’ve read Rise of the Witch, you are aware where his relationship with Ellie currently stands. It isn’t good 😬 Killian is probably the hardest of Ellie’s mates to like. Killian is the eldest brother, the dragon king’s heir, and one scary dude to boot. However, in this book Ethington really grows his character. We get an insight into his thoughts and feelings which he rarely shows to others. He’s got a big heart and is trying to do right, all while trying to break the cycle of abuse he was raised with. Dragons, Vampires, and Fae What I love most about this series is Rebecca Ethington‘s world-building. I love how (so far) we’ve encountered many different types of paranormal creatures, all living in this urban fantasy world. While this series focuses on the dragons, there are also vampires and fae. I love how they are tied into this world and what Ethington does with them. I kind of can’t wait to see Callay’s role in the upcoming books. While Ellie is still learning all there is to know about this world she was hidden from, we the readers also get a glimpse. Sometimes (because the POV alternates among Ellie and her dragons) we know things before Ellie. Y’all I love irony 😀 My Final Thoughts Overall I really enjoyed Fall of the Dragon. If possible, I think I enjoyed it more than the first book. The continued world-building, the fast plot, and the building romance have me hooked. If you enjoy slow-burn romance, reverse harems, and urban fantasy, I highly recommend this series.

2.5 stars. Im not really sure what happened. The first book really showed a lot of promise but I think this one fell short. I don't really even know what is going on anymore. Not only that, but I barely even like Ellie, I mean I am hanging on a short thread here because this girl has turned into such a whiny and immature heroine that I am barely standing behind her. This shouldn't have happened. She was supposed to get better, and stronger here but I really feel like shes backsliding like mad cr 2.5 stars. Im not really sure what happened. All she seems to care about is her raging hormones...and we got tons of inner monologues....I mean tons. It was so repetitive that it really took all the fun out of it. I am now feeling no one includes her in any decisions because shes just a brat and that's why. I am really trying to tell myself the next one will be better but I have almost lost hope here. Its just so all over the place it doesn't feel like a cohesive anything. Its like all the characters are only out for themselves and not a team. I'm debating on whether or not to continue this.

ON MY GOSH! WOW!! Everything imagined is now real. This book is amazing, scary, awesome, intense, heartbreaking, and twisty (is that a word?). I have always been impressed with the way Rebecca can take any scene and make it come alive in my mind. I can see, feel, and smell what she is describing. I "see" fire of different intensities or colors, and guys of different hotness. I "feel" my blood pressure go up, as well as Ellies, when she is with one of them, or the hurt when something bad happens. ON MY GOSH! WOW!! Everything imagined is now real. The world Rebecca has created is exciting and full of unexpected happenings. You can really get lost in the characters and there interaction with each other. I am impressed with how Rebecca can take each interaction between Ellie and one of her guys and show the different kinds of passion that occurs. My blood pressure rises. Thank you Rebecca for writing this book. I couldn't put it down and can't wait for the next one.

I really enjoyed this book and this series. It is my first Reverse Harlem series but i am a huge fan of Rebecca's as her stories are not cookie-cutter stories. Throughout this book you get to see Ellie become more confident in herself and with her relationship with her boys . Unlike the last book she isn't kept in the dark with the things going on in her life thus causing her to have to become mature in comparison to the first book. Enemy has pushed the time table forward..... Ellie and her mates are still working through things and trying to keep her safe. Things get interesting when Jillian throws a tantrum when things don't go his way with Ellie, that ends up bringing the dragon king due to Drake's transformation. I love Ellie! I love her sense of humor and inner monologue, she keeps things fun and relatable its not always so serious! I love that she is building a relationship with each guy before just being like "omg I love you, even tho I don't even know you" and all over them, giving each character time to grow and get to know one another. Super excited for the third, fourth and fifth book!! This is easily becoming one of my favorite series. I love Ellie! Control is slipping In Fall of the Dragon everything is getting more intense. This picks up immediately after the circus fire and the princes spend most of the book separated from each other and Elliott. Rydaim is on the verge of collapse and Ellie is discovering more, including her past. There is a bit of a cliffhanger, so I imagine book 3 is going to not slow down in adventure.

I would have given this book 5 stars, as the characters and plot are very well done and the story is quite fun and attention getting. However, the book badly needs a proofreader and/or editor as there are many grammar errors, tense of verbs poorly done (too many "was" that should have been "were" and such), as well as extra words, missing words (sentences that clearly should be negative missing the negative word). and incorrect words for the context. So we start where book 1 left off. The Phoenix is still a naive little girl that is trying to find the right thing to do. The dragons are trying to keep up appearances with their father whilst keeping their mate safe. There is still tension and frustration between all of them, but for the time they are trying to keep their hands to themselves. It would be interesting what will happen in book 3.

Great story but not great editing Loved the story as much as the first in the series, which is why I gave it three stars. It would have been more but unfortunately whoever was in charge of proofreading and editing failed miserably. Almost every few pages there were grammatical errors making me cringe and have to reread the sentence to change it correctly in my head.

And it gets better! I originally read Rebecca’s Imdalind series and loved it, so when I got wind of this series I jumped at the chance! The details in the story are absolutely amazing, the characters are perfection and the story is a non stop roller coaster! Anyone who love loves shifter stories, dragons, and romance will find a perfect read with this series!!

There will be FF I’m pretty upset that there was no warning or notice that a female would be in the harem. Rh is usually all men in the harem and the few that do include ff or mm usually tell you.

Book 2 and I'm loving Elliot's men even more. I like that they don't immediately fall in line with her loving them all. I get so tired of the cookie cutter reverse harem. This book is definitely different and worth every second of my time. ❤ Book 2 and I'm loving Elliot's men even more. I like that they don't immediately fall in line with her loving them all. Too poorly written. The poor proofreading killed this series for me. I will never again read material from an author who can't be bothered to clean and tidy their own work.
