I read this to my toddler grandson who loved the illustrations and laughed at the child-like humor and the rhyming lines! Brett Fleishman obviously knows from first hand how to relate to little minds. And these little minds need to still have an interest in books, books that you can hold in your hands and store on bookshelves. Toilet Trouble is a perfect quick read for beginner readers, to help introduce poetry and rhymes and would be a great tool for teachers too. Just a cute collection of poems for children. The title says "For Beginning Readers," but I can envision younger ones laughing along when hearing these poems. The illustrations are great! Toilet Trouble is funny and creative - a very fitting follow-up to "If the Earth is Round". I love this book because it's a great way to engage earlier readers, especially if you're looking to put a smile on your child's face at bedtime. Colorful, animated pictures make this book a delight to the eye, not just for the age range designed for (K-2). Whilst written for the younger family members it is unlikely that a kindergartener will be able to read this book independently. However, they are sure to enjoy someone else reading it to them! The content is age appropriate with the illustrations helping to accentuate the meaning. The poems are short and attention grabbing. Where's the young boy's sister? Binoculars the wrong way round! The content is age appropriate with the illustrations helping to accentuate the meaning. The poems are short and attention grabbing. Where's the young boy's sister? Binoculars the wrong way round! Ever had one of your kids do that? What's waiting in the ice skating rink? If you have more than one child in your house you will certainly giggle over the poem, Toilet Trouble. This book is a fantastic example of an author NOT spelling everything out in mundane detail but rather allowing the pictures to tell their part thus leaving the obvious unsaid and giving room for the imagination to "play". There are 20 poems in this book, 10 of which are PART 2 of poems started in Book 1 of this series - If the Earth is Round. Is it imperative that you read the first book first? I didn't! What I don't like is the fact that punctuation appears to be very sporadic. A couple poems have NONE, some have some and others are fully punctuated. I was provided an advance copy of this book by the publisher. My kids have also read this book and given me their opinion so the thoughts and observations above are our own. Thanks, Liz

Poetry with its rhyme can be fun to read, but this guide is more than that. Author Brett Fleishman along with illustrator David Harston have created a fun poetry read for kids ages K-2. Inside these pages, readers will find easy to read poetry they will understand.

I had so much fun reading this series and working through the puzzles. It reminded me of the coloring and activity books from when I was a kid. I loved word puzzles as a kid, so as I read each book with my cousins and nephews, I was still able to enjoy and reminisce even as an adult.

These books are absolutely some of the cutest works of children's literature that I have ever read. I love that he has books from kindergarten to seventh grade. I definitely would have enjoyed Fleishman's books as a kid. This would be the perfect gift for any child with a great sense of humor. Fleishman was written a wonderful work of poetry. Children and even adults will love the hilarious illustrations and poems in all of the books. The scenarios in his books are funny and interesting enough to talk to your child about.

All of the books in this series are so much fun! I love that they're interesting for the kids and provide lessons, but I still felt engaged and amused as an adult. I had a couple literal lols, which is rare for me with books! All of the books in this series are so much fun! This book is delightful and Fleishman does a great job capturing the humor of the age group. This is perfect for young readers or for reading to non-readers. The poetry and humor remind me a lot of that of Shel Silverstein!
