This book, Dark Child, is about one of the side characters in No Saint. The hero of this book, Merc, was the half-brother of the hero, Ross, in No Saint. Unfortunately, this book was no good at all, nothing like No Saint. I couldn’t read it properly but had to skip it a lot just to see the end of it without totally DNF’ing it. Here is why this book was no good for me: 1. Firstly, it was boring as hell with the hero’s never ending nightmares. It’s nightmares and the same dialogues and the same dreams and the same mystery – which is no mystery at all but as clear as day, in fact. And I have no idea why his family didn’t insist on him seeing a therapist for so many years as he has been having those awful nightmares since the age of 4. It is apparent that he had a trauma back then and these dreams are in fact memories. Yes, they say he needs to see a therapist but do not insist on it and he takes pills to be able to sleep and sometimes overdoses on them. It was a reckless and stupid vicious cycle, too repetitive and also very boring. 2. Only some good romance could have saved such a boring topic but the romance was even more boring than his nightmares. The hero cannot understand he has a crush on twins, he thinks it's one girl and he names her as the psycho girl because she acts cold one day and hot another day. It is in fact because they are not the same person but twins. Come on, there is this thing called “communication”, try it, it may help you to understand people. But no, he just thinks she is a psycho girl with changing moods. He doesn’t even ask her what changed from yesterday to today. He just assumes she is unstable and moody. And when he asks her one day if she has a twin, it is just a sarcastic question not a serious one that he considers to be true but then he gets the answer "yes". Such an anti-climactic realization it was. 3. The couple has NO chemistry at all. I didn’t feel their connection so I couldn’t even read their love-making scenes properly. I was pulling my hair with boredom all the time. And the first time they have sex is without any conversation about their feelings etc. It is in a closet at school. It is unprotected and it is all of it together (the first kiss and the first sex) and it happens with no talk of feelings. As I didn’t feel their sexual chemistry, it didn’t feel right or good. I didn't like it at all. ********************************************* For all the reasons above, I couldn't connect with the book and after their first love making scene, I started to skim and scan the book to see if it gets any better but it was more and more boring plus being ridiculous so I just scanned the pages to see what happens and how it ends just in case I would like to read another book about the other characters in the family.

I almost, almost feared that he wouldn’t be able to escape it and that something really bad would happen to these two. I mean, I know Jo’s books by heart and her boy torture is always on point, but this one was really exceptional. It was real, like, I imagined someone I know experiencing this and I really believe things like this happen more often than we wish for. The nightmares were so real, as were Cosima’s dreams where Merc was screaming for help. God, I had goosebumps. So many goosebumps. And I cried. Real tears. Tears of joy and tears of sadness. This book has it all and you should definitely read it.

The writing is great and I loved mmeting characters from previous books. Dark Child can easily be read as a standalone and is written in a dual POV.

Mercury has been a book I’ve been waiting for. I love that on the outside he seems like someone who has all he’s ever needed. But deep down he is like everyone else. I love how tight his family is. They are always there no matter what. Cos seems to be a shy loner type girl. I can’t imagine doing all she does for her sister. I love how her and merc seem to understand each other even if they are scared to say it out loud. I am really interested in JC now tho. He is an awesome roommate but it seems Mercury has been a book I’ve been waiting for. I love that on the outside he seems like someone who has all he’s ever needed. I just found this story so INTERESTING! First of all, Merc- who would have guessed how tortured this boy was? I love how he calls the object of his affection psycho girl, and the way that plays out amuses me. I was so captivated by everyone's dreams, how they are connected. I love his family and how they are so there for one another. I love how they've grown, and I don't recommend reading this on it's own. I mean you could, but to get the full experience you should read Caveman and Bad Wolf. As I just found this story so INTERESTING! First of all, Merc- who would have guessed how tortured this boy was? As much as Merc is struggling through something, Cos is a heroine who is damaged, not fully stepping into her life, not sure what she brings to the table. Not sure she is fully enough. These two bring each other strength and it's beautiful. The story takes a bit of a wild, adventurous turn and doesn't turn out how I expected, leaving me with some question marks and dying for future stories.

4* Merc has seen Sophie around college and is captivated by her but she barely seems to remember him at times calling her the Ghost girl. However Cosima is Sophie’s twin & helping her as she can’t be in two places & it’s a harmless thing twins do! A story of past childhood events which leave you hurting for those involved. I loved the characters in this book & the family coming together. I liked the introduction of Jc his room mate & cant wait to find out his story. This book drags you in and holds you hostage till the very end. Jo is well known for torturing her bad boys, but what happens when she tortures a good boy? The story gets even better! I couldn't put this down and enjoyed everything about it. The family dynamics to the soul wrenching horrors that laid in his wake. Of there is one book you read before the year is up, make it this one. You wont be dissapointed!

Her characters, specifically her heroes, are broken, emotionally and sometimes physically tortured. They have strong physical attributes but their hearts are heavy. What I love most is while she puts her characters through emotional trauma, Jo will always give you their healing. That said, Dark Child was another amazing book by Jo Raven. This author still sits at number one on my favorite author's list. The genre of this book states contemporary romance. In addition, this book is dark, angsty, suspenseful and passionate. If you've read Jo's previous books, you'll know they all interconnect in some way. Merc is Gigi and Octavia's younger brother. And we've met him several books ago when he was just 15/16 years old. He is now 19 and a college student. He has a part time job at Matt's (his brother-in-law) garage. I will say that Merc was an amazing character. There was nothing about him I didn't like, except the emotional torture he suffered in this book. My heart was so heavy for him. I don't want to go into any details for fear of spoiling anything for you. I can tell you that Merc suffers from horrific nightmares. He tries to keep this to himself but ends up being something he can't handle on his own. When he meets Cosima at school, he is instantly attracted but confused by her hot/cold behavior toward him and this only adds to his already rising stress level. But sometimes things aren't always what they seem. Cosima was a perfect heroine for Merc. She was the calm in his trauma. There were some predictable aspects in this book. I loved how Jo gave Merc his healing. It wasn't quick or easy which made his issues believable. And I'll add that the dynamic of Merc and his family is precious. They are loving , protective and loyal to a fault. There are several new characters introduced in Dark Child. I know will be giving us their stories soon. Of course we get tidbits and hunts of the premises and I have my suspicions where she may go. Especially with JC. I absolutely can't wait for those books! Dark Child can be read as a standalone. However, I found that having previously read the other sibling's books, make me appreciate the story much more. So if you haven't, I recommend you check out this author's other books. This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you taking the time to read it. :)

I LOVED THIS BOOK SO HARD! I love this series so much, but this one was even better. This story definitely was different than the others. There were so many little moments between Merc and Cos and with the family that I couldn't help but say aw. Now for the darker parts, this really captivated me. I couldn't wait to keep reading when I had to stop, I even had dreams wondering what might happen next. The dark parts were so crazy and such a big part of this story. This really took this story on a different level from the others. The others weren't all sunshine and rainbows, but this story took on a much darker tone. It was a nice step out of the box from their story. I'm really curious to see what Jo might come with next and if we will see more from the family

Mercury Watson... Has Jo tortured a boy like this before... Has a boy found such a perfectly matched girl for him as Merc & Cos... I love Jo's books, I love Jo's book boys and I love their girls, but this one has something different. ANGST. HEARTBREAK. MYSTERY. LOVE. FAMILY. These are words I think of when I try to explain what I felt reading Merc’s story DARK CHILD. Merc is trapped within his mind not knowing how to process what he has witnessed as a child. The attraction is instant, even though Merc is confused by her Hot and Cold personality with him... not knowing she is a twin until later. Cos is the only thing that quietens the noise inside Merc’s mind, with her beside him everything dulls and he has peace something he has never felt since he was 4 years old on that one fateful night that he walked out of his front door and didn’t return until the following morning. This was an amazing read and sets you up for Ross, Sophie and JC in upcoming stories which REALLY excites me!!! I can’t wait to discover their lives.

I have been waiting for Merc's book and boy was it worth the wait! Beautiful Mercury Watson, youngest brother to Octavia and Gigi from the outside looks like he has a great life. Beautiful family, good place to live, but on the inside he struggles daily, plagued by nightmares he no longer recalls that could be either a dream or memories. Then there is psycho girl, who he has aptly named for her mood swings. Another brilliant read, I loved all the extended family scenes and how they all came together to help each other. I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC and this is my honest review.

Such a beautiful story for Mercury Watson - Jo Raven doesn't disappoint. In the previous books where he was mentioned he was a happy go lucky guy (ManCave, BadWolf, CaveMan). Now reading how powerful his story is just floored me. With the help of his loving family and his new love, he will be able to finally face the demons that haunt his sleep. I'm not going to go into to much detail because being the spoiler is not what I want to do. This book is so readable and wonderful.

Wow. I was very excited to hear Merc was gonna get his own story. And Jo did not disappoint. This story was incredible. I could not guess the twists that came along. And loved the involvement of his whole family. I love how much Merc helps Cosima and how she helps Merc as much in his own troubles. Their bond and connection is so strong and beautiful. This book is definitely worth reading and makes me do excited to read the next book about people you meet in this book.

I don't know if I scream, shout or just be. Lol. It might sound crazy but I have an explanation. This author is responsible for the hottest readings of my book life, as well as the most intense stories as well. Jo Raven has an intense, breathtaking, steamy and flawless writting that will hook you up. Bad Child is her latest release and tells the stories of Merc and Cosima. But I want to tell you something. I totally advise you to read Wild Men series first. Despite the fact that this book is a standalone I think that reading this series you will be able to understand this character better. Trust me. You will love it. I've been waiting for this book for so long. I've wanted to know why he was like that and starting this book couldn't have happened faster. Merc has a tight family and loves his sisters and mom but his demons haunt him daily and that can become a problem. On the outside he seems like any other guy but on the inside... When he meets a girl he feels attracted to her but she's odd. One minute she knows him and the next she doesn't... WTF... But... Cosima is used to be mistaken for her sister. For her, she's her darker version and that no-one sees her for herself. When they are together all the attention goes to her sister and that can put you down. Sweet mother of God... This book is the bomb. I'm stunned, overwhelmed, happy, sad... All at once. The plot is superb, very well written, super engaging and intense. Each chapter made me fall even more in love with the characters and the plot as well. There were parts of the story that I saw myself fearing for the characters life and sanity but there were others that I was hot as hell. This story presented us with fear, crime, nightmares, betrayal as well as love, family bonds, desire and happiness. Don't give up on the ones you love, help them as love them unconditionally. This series is getting better by the book and I want more. Jo Raven you are absolutely amazing. I'm in love with this series and I can't wait for what's about to come. I want more, I need some answers... Please don't take to long... I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

What I didn't expect was the amount of mystery that Jo Raven was going to deliver along with her signature steamy, heart pounding romance. Her characters Merc and Cosima kept me tangled in knots and wondering what was going to happen next while these two and their passions collide and keep us sweating. Since meeting Merc in one of Jo Raven's earlier stories, I couldn't wait to get to know this blonde and gorgeous hero. While he came across as more of a jokester in her other books, we soon find out that there is a more serious and dark side to Merc that leaves readers breathless and wanting to know more. You know that saying “curiosity killed the cat” well Jo Raven was killing me slowly chapter by chapter and kept my interest piqued from page one until the last. I couldn't help but fall helplessly for her “dream boy” and want to know everything about him. He fascinated me in every way. I have never wanted to delve deeper into a hero's psyche so that I could cuddle him and make everything better. Cosima is a young woman with lots of personality and flair that catches Merc's attention and heart from the start. I couldn't wait to get to know this heroine who puts everyone before herself and never fails to show kindness to others. She warmed my heart and carved a place there for herself page by page. If anyone can help save Merc from his demons, it is this bright eyed beauty and she shows us that at every turn. Jo Raven delivers a suspense filled, emotional love story that will have you hanging on to every word until the very end! I highly recommend Dark Child for Jo Raven's newest tortured hero and the young woman with a whole lot of heart that helps save him. I always open a book by Jo Raven and jump right in so that my heart can experience every upheaval of her amazing and beautifully inked characters. She keeps me addicted and happy with every page!

So Merc has been staying with Gigi and has decided to get his own place, he finds an apartment with good rates sharing with the mysterious JC (can not wait for his story) anyway Merc is till going to college and still hung up on Sophie the girl who runs hot and cold on him. One day his luck turns and she finally speaks to him, Merc asks her out for coffee and they really hit it of they both want more. What also doesn't help is they nightmares Merc has that seem to get worse each night. With the help of his family and new girl they all go back to the town where they grew up to see if the truth can be uncovered. This is a great read, I loved the energy between Merc and his girl they just couldn't keep their hands of each other!

*Sometimes memories are scars that we've hidden far away in our subconscience"... I don't really know how to start this review. It had everything you want in a story that keeps you on your toes but it just took me a while to get into the story and really figure out where it was going but somewhere it picked up and it kept me on the edge of my seat... Cosima doesn't really know what to do with her life and keeps going back and forth to help her twin sister out at school and work but when she meets Mercury, there's something between them that's more than chemistry. The more time they spend together, the more their bond keeps on growing. But Merc's nightmares are getting worse and his past is coming closer each night. Now it's only a matter of time before they either destroy him completely or if he finally learns what really happened that night he was a little boy... Will he find out?...

I'm not even sure where to start. All of Jo Raven's books are great. Some are even better than great, some are EPIC! Dark Child is one of the EPIC ones. I had a hard time putting this one down. Merc/Mercury is yumminess intact. You've met him before in Caveman, he's Octavia's little brother. Yes, THAT Merc. I've wondered since then what his story was gonna be like. What were his nightmares caused by. What WAS he hiding? Or did he even know? And yes this is the part where you keep reading cause y I'm not even sure where to start. Dark Child!! 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jo Raven will pull you into a story so quickly that you won’t know what happened. Merc has always seemed so happy go lucky but at night he’s anything but. He becomes trapped in nightmares so real that he doesn’t want to go to bed at night. He then meets a girl Cosima that helps to quiet his demons. This story is hot, intriguing and suspenseful. I can’t wait to find out more about the other characters in this book as well. Pick up this book... you won’t be disappointed!!!

Merc is the brother of Gigi and Octavia from previous novels, and he is haunted by nightmares from his childhood. Cosima is a twin, and she occasionally stands in for her sister Sophie in her classes. No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a beautifully written story from this extremely talented author, and is filled with angst, emotion, heartbreak, mystery, family, and love. This is an intense read. With a storyline that is raw, gripping and completely engaging, Mercury and Cosima's romance will send your emotions on a roller coaster ride. Both these characters will touch your heart. Their backstories are full of pain and heartache. I loved them together. This is a book that is fun and steamy but also dark and emotional. Simply put, it is perfection. This is my voluntary and completely truthful review.

ARC REVIEWED Another gripping storyline from Jo Raven. Dark Child is Mercury's & Cosima's story aka DreamBoy & CosieCat oh and a cute kitty, Hiccup. The twists start right from the beginning when Cos seems to acknowledge Merc one day and totally blank him the next day, this gets answered early into the story, we then see the love build up, the romance and the HAF sex scenes. I have been waiting for Mercs story and this book did not let me down. Mercs childhood was a happy one apart from the issues with his half brother, he lived in a happy home and was loved and cared for by his family but he has a secret and evens he’s not really sure of the extent of it. Cos has a harder childhood and I loved the interaction she has with Mercs family. I love the bond they had and how the relationship grew when they got over all the confusion. I now can’t wait for Mercs roommate JC’s I have been waiting for Mercs story and this book did not let me down. Jo Raven has put out another fabulous book!! It is beautifully written, all the emotions you'll ever want and need in a book! Merc has been having dreams since he was a child but are these dreams real or they just dreams? Along comes Cosima but is she who she is or is there something that nobody knows about her? To find out you really need to read this book!
