Ugh, the way Elle Cross played with the genres with this read is so freaking amazing! Wolf Song is a combination of dystopia and paranormal with some softcore scifi elements thrown in there. It's def like getting the best of those worlds. The dystopia game is strong right off the bat; what with the feel of Soleil being silent and alone through the first chapters. Wolf Song is a combination of dystopia and paranormal with some softcore scifi elements thrown in there. It's def like getting the best of those worlds. The dystopia game is strong right off the bat; what with the feel of Soleil being silent and alone through the first chapters. I admit to being clueless and wary, aside from getting to know Soleil that is, because I feel like I am reading quick without registering any of the content. Again, the eerie ambience of the read is off the charts. Until I kind of stabilized my pace and felt that I am finally unraveling the story. My, my, my, did I improve my pace. Just when I get the hang of it though, appreciating the SciFi twist of the plot and whatnot, I reach the last couple of chapters of the read. Not that it ended in a cliffhanger perse like I went from being I have no idea what is happening right now quickly to wtaf, I need more right now!. Story of my life, amiright? But anyway, it has been so, so, so good...as I have expected. And speaking of expectations, I most definitely love the characters huhuhu. The heroine is such a great balance of smart but not too smart to be so damn prideful and of kind but not too kind to be pushovery or be naive in a dystopian settings. See, this is what I don't get with most heroines from dystopian reads. Most of the heroines I have met before felt like they're kind of too stupid to survive the apocalypse, excuse my french. Too stubborn, too headstrong, as if acting without thinking first and foremost. And that baffles me too no end because just how tf do these girls live in such an environment? Jfc. But not Soleil. She is quick on her feet and on her brain, just like how she handled the St. Clairs from the town. And at the same time, trusting her instincts with Creed and his pack. I bet if she's your normal kickass and headstrong heroine, she will defy and continue to do the opposite thing the hero asked of her just for the sake of being a strong and independent woman who knows better than to listen to reason. Yes, obviously, I'm most utterly peeved when heroines do that. Like, I want to shake you and bang my own head to a brickwall kind of peeved. Soleil being a damn fresh breath of air is such an understatement. But anyway, no more of my trash talking and whining... PS I think I haven't mentioned any of the heroes: Creed, Vin, Remy, Hugh, Osiris and Doyle - what with them getting lost over my rantings...but yeah, I love them all, too (or mostly their reverence to Soleil). But so far the most interesting imo is Doyle. Can't wait to get to know them better!

Then the govt created a solution. Only the solution decided it wanted to make the world in their image. Now all that's left is madness, chaos and routine. The first rule of this new world is to survive. The base plot to this story is so confusing and convoluted. It literally leads in circles but each circle leads off to nowhere. Yeah. That's how much sense it makes. It's going to take a couple read throughs to get this down. Possibly some note taking because I'm pretty sure some things, and people, contradicted themselves. First of all, be prepared for conversation structure to be very informal, relaxed and read with a twang. Characters appear out of nowhere and speak in half revealed riddles. They're leading you somewhere but that somewhere is far off and down a very twisty path. And just when you think you got it, that white rabbit takes you off somewhere else. To say I have questions is a severe understatement. I'm hoping a second book clears some things up. This is a slow burn. This is also an introduction. You are meeting key players, being given a limited background, and some very odd world building occurs. The good news is my brain is still working on this an hour later. The bad news is I would really like the second book and though it said it was to be released Oct '18 it isn't here yet (it's less than a week till Xmas). I have questions, people. I need answers lol.

This book wasn't what I expected to be honest (totally not in a bad way). I liked the unique storyline and all the twists and turns that Elle Cross weaved into the story and world she created. I really liked Soli as a MC and am super excited to learn more of her guys and see their relationships bloom and grown in the rest of the series ❤️. So many things need to be answered in the upcoming books, excited to see some steam (the tension between Soli and some of the guys is insane! haha). Really loved Osiris and am Creed (and want to know more of Hugh, Doyle, Remy, and Vin). I appreciated how well put together Soli was despite the situation. All the secrets definitely would get to me if I were in her shoes. I need to know more about her mom and her dad, so much left to the reader to want to read more. Definitely would recommend this story 😊. Honestly, I was on the fence with giving this a 4 or a 5 star review, but there was a couple sections that I think had scenes removed or were reworked so the transistion/flow wasn't as smooth as the rest of the book. I had to go back and reread one section multiple times to figure out how it skipped to the current scene I was reading. If it wasn't for that, this would have been easily a 5 star review. I love the ideas in the book and the characters had me hooked right away, but these couple places kinda detracted to the flow enough of me to notice. Not enough for me to stop reading because I was sold within the first chapter or two.

The dystopian sci-fi/magic world built for this series is very interesting, and the writing is great, but I don't think the book was long enough to do more than skim over all the characters and concepts before it ended. Lots of characters were introduced, but once again, we don't get much more than their name and maybe their positions. The title of the book is called Wolf Song, we know that these mysterious protectors keep calling Soleil ramina for little wolf queen, and she sings and hums a few times in the story, but we never get confirmation that she's actually some sort of wolf shifter to justify the name before the end of the book. The 2nd book may possibly give more answers, but I'm still iffy if I want to commit to another book with the lack of character detail in this one. This book is only a glimpse into the series, and I don't think it stands well on its own. Additionally, the ending of the book says that the next book Wolf Cry is coming Oct 2018 -- it's currently Aug 2020 when I'm writing this review, and I see no sign of the book on Amazon.

FMC: strong willed but vulnerable, smart, competent, and stead-fast The men: we get introduced to some more than others but they are all unique. I really look forward to their relationship progressing. I know we aren't supposed to choose but I'm #teamdoyle - so far. Lol. Heat: very slow burn, more urban fantasy style right now. No intimate scenes. But this works; they are becoming familiar with each other and Soleil has a lot to learn yet. This story wouldn't work if they fell in insta love/lust. I'm really looking forward to the next installment and seeing their relationships progress. 💜💜💜

An epic start to another fantastic series! Wow! She did it again! I've fallen in love with another strong female lead and I am enticed with the cast that surrounds her, and all their possibilities. There are magics, wolves and new creatures to contemplate, all viewed through the unique lense of a creative mind. Nothing is to be expected, everything is a suprise, and it all leaves you wondering. It's a refreshing and new take on so many different levels. I'm so happy for this new series, and I cannot wait for the next book! Well done!

Wolf Song was a great new world for this author. She built it so well that I was gritting my teeth at all the dangers that Soli was in the middle of. The FMC is strong, level headed and has so much courage that I couldn't help but feel very sorry for how long she'd been alone in the world(even when she had her dad). She turned that loneliness and made use of it, she grew aware of her surroundings and made sure she always survived. She is proud but knows when she needs help, great senses and overall a beautiful soul. This is an interesting new take on wolves stories and a tremendous breath of fresh air. The story was amazing and the characters were refreshing which made this story a very easy 5 stars. Currently waiting excitedly for the next book that comes out very soon.

This book was nothing of what I expected. It is quite post-apocalyptic with a hints of a space opera at the end, and left me relieved that I finally found an RH that didn’t sound like it was written by a high schooler (I wish the cover art somehow could reflect that). I liked the idea for this book. The story took a while getting into, but when it did it got rather addictive. If you like a slow easy read this is definitely your kind of book. I like simplicity of the relationships between Soli & the men. The easy acceptance of a bond because of the instant comfort and ease provided just by their presence. I look forward to seeing where the story goes with the next book.
