It’s a mess. Max and Lewis were young and in love but when they were caught in a compromising position Max was shipped away. His family uprooted him from his friends and school and just moved away. He wrote to Lewis everyday but never heard back. For the most part I enjoyed this read but it was riddled with mistakes and I was thoroughly confused at times. It also felt a bit rushed. Okay so what confused me? Lewis is an Alpha and Max is an Omega. They refer to themselves as such. “.......In the city, Alphas and Omegas get together all the time.” “Forget it. I’m an Omega, our asses are moist already, remember?” “No. Nope. I’ve been taking hormone injections since I first went to New York, and I’ve never missed a single one.....” Why is Max taking hormone contraceptive injections? I couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that we have Alphas, Omegas and hormone injections and yet Max doesn’t know about the existence of werewolves. What’s with all the alpha/omega stuff? My other problem was the timeline. It was all over the place. Lewis and Max were last together at fifteen. Max is now twenty-seven. Then we’re told they’ve been apart for fifteen years. “It’s been twelve years, Max. Twelve!” “Fifteen years of separation...” “Wait?” he asked. “I’ve waited ten years for you...” I’m not a really picky reader in so much as if the book flows I’m good. This timeline slowed me down. This book is available on KU.

With that being said, I can truly say, though I felt a disconnect with this book, and have more questions than answers, I know that I will be tuning in to read book two, Evan's story. I am hoping the author is slowly building her world and will be able to fulfill her readers imagination and have explanations to all that is going on. For me, this story is incomplete. A lovely story, but at a HFN, though the two characters have met their HEA. "A relationship between an Alpha wolf and a human Omega was a recipe for disaster." When destiny calls, no one, not even the enemy can dictate what love can accomplish. Years ago, Max's family were ousted from town and he and Lewis lost contact. But the feelings persists. With an attendance to a mutual friends funeral, the pair were reunited. Only this time, more danger than before arrives as the town only wants Max gone and the status quo to return. Lewis's secrets are about to be revealed. There is no way he can hold it back from Max. With the revolt from his town's people, there was no going back, especially with the surprise about to come. I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author via LesCourt.

I thought that this was an interesting story. I'm not sure that I would call it a true second chance romance as much as I would a 1.5 chance story. Max and Lewis were best friends growing up. When they were 16 and 17, they realized that they had feelings for each other. When they acted on them, Max's family was driven out of town. Now, many years later, Max is back in town long enough to come to a friend's funeral. Lewis shows up at the funeral just because he knows that Max will be there. Lewis is engaged to a woman he doesn't love and is barely attracted to. His parents contracted the match for him. As a wolf alpha, he has to have a wife and heirs, especially if he's going to follow in his father's footsteps. But when he sees Max again, it's like nothing ever changed. There are a lot of things going on in this book. There are assignations, babies, broken engagements, conspiracies, and about a gazillion other things. It's a good first book in a series, because it sets up all the background we're going to need for the rest of the series. I liked it, and I'm interested in seeing where the rest of the books will go.

They left Grayson Falls behind to start over in the city. Lewis still not telling Max his secret. When Max falls ill everything changes and not for the better. This was an oddly written book. Not a lot of substance to the story but I'm assuming it's because it's the first of a series and will be fleshed out in the next book. I would read the next one. I received an arc of this book.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Okay, there is nothing wrong with this story per-say but I couldn’t help but feel I had read it before. I don’t know if it’s just incredibly similar to a previous read or what, but having to fight off wolves, with your ex, while your mate is giving birth shouldn’t feel so common to me along with the doctors wanting to do lots of tests on the pregnant mate. Max and Lewis were drawn together as kids and then forced apart in their teens. When Max I received this book in exchange for an honest review. When Max comes back for a funeral he didn’t think he would see his old flame but there is something that can’t keep them apart. It felt a little too quickly wrapped up with Lewis deciding immediately he was going against everything when Max walks back into his life, heck he only went to the funeral because he was sure Max would be there. I didn’t really connect with either character as we saw glimpses of them as teens and then ten years later but nothing really about how they became the person they are today.

An okay start So, the premise of this book is interesting, nothing unusual for a shifter/ human relationship. Families keeping their children apart because they don’t approve of the relationship. It’s been done many times so there needs to be something that makes this author stand out from the crowd. For me, the world building needs to be much stronger and more showing, less telling. Lewis has siblings, where are they and why aren’t they factored in? Why not show the fight scene? The book did keep my interest fairly well, but it really needed more substance, more details, more emotion.

A great second chance romance that is a good start to a new series. Mark and Lewis were separated as teens because of their families, Lewis' family did not approve of their relationship. Ten years later, Max is back in town and their connection and chemistry is a strong as ever. They have quite a few obstacles to overcome, Faye, Lewis' family, and most of all, Max has no idea Lewis is a shifter! Great journey to their HEA full of drama, violence, and great hot and steamy sex! I voluntarily review A great second chance romance that is a good start to a new series. I thought the story about Max and Lewis was very interesting. I do love a second chance romance especially when there is lots of misunderstandings involved. There was definitely some angst through the story, which was fast paced and easy to read. Max and Lewis were likable characters and I definitely want to see more of Grayson Falls. I would recommend this story.

I felt there was so much information missing from this story. I had questions that weren't answered or were barely answered. And I just felt like the characters were not well developed or likable. I felt there was so much information missing from this story. I had questions that weren't answered or were barely answered.
