She has everything she could possible need or want in the simple life she and her father have built on the quiet shores. Until, learning she may be forced to marry a man she does not love, she sheds her own hopeless tears into the cold surf. And the next day, a curious stranger walks out of those same waters. Everything about Innis calls to Moire; he is as wild and beautiful as her beloved sea. But there's something he's hiding. Is he the salvation he appears to be? Or a danger to her soul? With only seven days' time to decide, will she surrender to the irresistible pull of Innis and his sea or choose to remain on the safe shores of home?

He is given shelter and food, telling Moire that he only has a week to stay before he leaves. Moire wants to know more about him, feeling a sudden panic at the short time they have. In the course of the story, she finds out more about who he is, falls for him in this short space of time, and must make the hardest decision of her life. The setting and time of the story is in a remote Scottish isle just a little after the Great War. However, this tidbit is not evident until one gets into the story as well as in the system the author writes both the narrative and dialogue. I like the way Innis is portrayed - a strong alpha male but not over the top as is often the case now in many romance novels. He has a quiet strength and face and body to boot. And I like the author's description of him at the very end of the book...short but spot on. As for Moira, she embodies the sense of responsibility and love of a daughter willing to sacrifice the one she loves the most to be with the one she holds dear. But don't get me wrong! This is an HEA readers of sweet with a little steam romances will love.

The Summons a tale of duty! The Summons by Marj Ivancic is a quick read about a daughter's duty, a father's love and dreams. This book is well written but full of grief, regrets, and hope for something different. As a daughter who misses her father I felt many things while reading and mimicked some of the same emotions. The strength of the story is what will draw the reader in and keep them fascinated with the tale within.
