A fascinating history of baseball in my parents' little hometown of Adrian in the 1890s. Lots of play-by-play action, which is remarkable given the possible sources of information at this far remove, and the inconsistencies between newspapers covering the same events. The story of the Page Fence Giants is also bound up in the history of race relations post-Reconstruction, with sad parallels to the present day. Makes me think twice about the West Michigan White Caps. A fascinating history of baseball in my parents' little hometown of Adrian in the 1890s.
