This one just didn't work for me but thankfully it was a quick read as it was a novella. I won this book in a goodreads drawing. The groom is tied up in the trunk of a car. The bride is in hot pursuit. At least one person is going to get got by the end. Pretty exciting rural pulp.

When the book goes back to the groom, he's complaining .. to himself ... that the trunk of this car is too small for his large body. He is also claustrophobic, so several pages is spent on that subject. The bad language seems to be gratuitous ... every other word seems to be yelled out for no good reason that I can see. This is a short story / novella ... I was expecting a short, interesting story. I was greatly disappointed. To be honest, I didn't find anything here worthwhile. There she was, the nervous bride, coming down the aisle to her waiting groom, only a few steps left and BAM, Elisha’s man is unceremoniously abducted by two sinister looking thugs. 2 stars Oh, Yawn! So glad this was a short story. A tobacco chewing bride gets left at the altar because two men kidnap her husband-to-be. She “steals” her brother’s car and pursues them. This was an ARC directly from the author, since I read and reviewed one of his other books. This one reminded me of the start of a Television series. It started out with a high speed chase. She is a Redneck girl who chews tobacco and needs a cup with her to spit. Luckily she had one in the truck. She was doing good until someone drove out and hit the truck. She meets Laine in the hospital who wants to get out also. So she gets keys to a car and the two girls take off to find Ronnie. The book is well written and keeps your attention until the end. You can read it, it is worth the time and is enjoyable.

DNF. The writing was too all over the place for me. I found the story hard to concentrate on, and the characters thoughts to be scattered. The book is written in third person, and that can easily unravel as it did here.

Okay story, had it’s high points. The Bridal Chase by Robert Downs follows Elisha Crimson as she sets out to rescue her fiancé when he is kidnapped on the wedding day. Heroines can be strong without being vulgar tobacco chewers. Overall, the story was okay, I suspect that Downs can do much better with his next one. I’ll be sure to check it out and see for myself!

While reading the first part of this book, I was constantly reminded of the fast, furious, and funny movie "Smokey and the Bandit" that starred Burt Reynolds and Sally Fields. Don't get me wrong, this is not a funny story in and of itself, but the image of a bride driving down the roads of West Virginia, wedding gown billowing, while hocking up a glob of chewing tobacco induced spit is not a scene you see every day. Their thoughts are full of chaotic determination; their actions are dangerous. As you read on, you will find out the whys and wherefores of the situation. This is a rollercoaster ride that will leave you breathless.

I won this book on Goodreads for an honest review. I did receive a free paperback. A good story that is convoluted in writing style. With several unnecessary words to describe one simple action. This made for frustrated reading at times. This is the reason for the 3 stars given for what I would say could be a 4 or 5-star story. The story itself is intriguing and of a brilliant concept of a love so strong and of a will even stronger. The characters are colorful and richly described. A bride on pursuit after her fiancé gets abducted by two thugs during their wedding ceremony. I was really excited to read this novel after I read the description, but unfortunately it wasn't as good as I expected it to be. I had to force myself to finish the book so that I can give this review. I lost interest as I thought the beginning and middle section was really slow - without much details and actions. And then the ending ended really fast. I couldn't really get into it. I received this as a A bride on pursuit after her fiancé gets abducted by two thugs during their wedding ceremony. The main thing I want to leave you with is the fact that you will not be disappointed in this novel. I was so happy I found this novel. Robert Downs has created a novel with a suspense and mystery where you will be trying to put the pieces together throughout the entire novel. Just when you think you have it all right, boom, you're wrong. I love it when an author can completely surprise me. Superb writing from Robert Downs and a action packed story. There were a lot of moving a parts to this one and I really liked the originality that Downs brought. This novel was very vivid in the descriptions, the writing really jumped off the pages and into my head. Suspense and Mystery laced throughout. I felt like I got a solid understanding of the characters in the story. There was definitely a lot of action going on that will have readers flipping pages furiously.

This looked like it could be an interesting short story about a groom who gets abducted on his wedding day...but sadly, no. Each chapter swings from the bride to the groom and their situation stemming from the interruption in the chapel. I found it hard to follow and some of the dialogue seemed pointless. Maybe I just didn't get it. This looked like it could be an interesting short story about a groom who gets abducted on his wedding day...but sadly, no. This was a surprisingly enjoyable read. I was in a mood for something mysterious and twisted, and got exactly that. The intricate twists and turns together with Robert Down’s amazing mind and ability to strategize keeps the reader guessing as the story slowly unravels and the villains and motives become clear. I liked this book on so many levels and I do recommend it.

Robert Downs has characterization down to a science. His characters really run the show and make the story so fun to read about. This was a very action packed Suspense that definitely kept me flipping pages. There were surprises along the way that definitely shocked me. Anything but predictable. Great pacing and a well written storyline. I look forward to reading more from Robert Downs.

I received an advance review copy of this book and have voluntarily reviewed it. I was interested in the premise of the story; but found it a little difficult to follow and by the end of the story didn’t really feel invested in any of the characters. It was a quick paced story, but didn’t live up to the promise.

THE BRIDAL CHASE by Robert Downs, is not your average (left at the alter type of story) but instead a kidnapping with the bride in pursuit of the groom. Ready to take on what-ever, will she succeed in getting him, or die trying? Or will both wind up dead? Dare-devil characters! Action-filled! Suspense-filled! Along with great vivid details! Great title with a great story! High intense intrigue. This read will leave you wanting more.

This is a short story that hits the ground running, literally. The premise is great, captures me right off the bat, but then loses a little momentum. The bride is so thrilled and excited for her wedding, as is the groom. The scene from each of their perspectives is of anticipation and a little awe they have managed to get themselves this far. Then it it all goes to shit, and fast. The remainder of the story is a car chase, with the bride chasing after her kidnapped groom.
