Historicals have always fed my soul. Hebby Roman’s new book Ruth, The Rescued Bride is no-exception . She truly engulfed every emotion with this book. Jacob a half-breed, whose mom was Comanche and dad a soldier, is now a scout for the army stationed at Fort Concho. Riding into a raid against the Comanche has always been rough, as he still doesn’t know which side he truly belongs. But this raid will be different, he’s about to rescue a young captive who will change his life forever. Ruth’s Family Historicals have always fed my soul. Ruth’s Family was all slaughtered by the Comanche, ranch burned down, and then she was taken captive. She’s now running for her life with her Comanche husband , Buffalo Heart, as the soldiers raid their camp, but her running is short lived as she goes into labor. When she awakens, she is in a home and surroundings unfamiliar to her. All she remembers is giving birth alone before she passed out. This was truly a very well written book that will leave you believing in miracles, true love, and forgiveness toward those who have wronged others.

A gentle story of pain, heartache and betrayal. Ruth had the cards stacked against her but she kept fighting for justice and the life she wanted. Once she forgave those who wronged her, she found her life changed. Sometimes the after part was worse than what a woman endured with her captors. People can be so judgmental and cruel. The author explored a very tough topic for the 1800s and did a great job wringing emotion from the reader. I applaud Hebby for her sensitivity and historical detail.

I love reading historical romances. Hebby Roman has started her trilogy with a bang. Ruth McDonald was held captive by the Comanche for two years, history tells us that people held captives weren't treated well during their captivity, and when back in white society still weren't treated nice. This story had some twists and turns that I wasn't expecting, and at times was concerned how everything was going to work out. Such a good story I loved this book. You could feel the heart of both Ruth and Jacob. Ruth is such a strong young woman to endure all that she has and Jacob is a wonderful patient man.

Hebby Roman is my favorite new author on my go to authors list for this year. This book just blew me away. It pulled me in in the first few pages by starting with Ruth going into labor at the worst time possible. I just had to know what was going to happen next. As far as I'm concerned all that consider themself a Christian need to read this book to be reminded of how as a Christian we are expected to give forgiveness to those who wrong us no matter the circumstances. I love a good Historical Western Romance novel and this one had all my favorites things in a HWR, Indians, Half-breeds, history lessons, intrigue, a sweet romance, life lessons and relations between indians and early settlers. A must read that I could not give enough stars and it will forever be in my heart! I choose not to go into the story line because everyone just needs to read this book!

This is a sweet easy-to-read (not quite light-hearted, but also not a heavy read either, despite the trials Ruth and Jacob face) story that made for a great weekend read. Even with losing everything and being so young, Ruth had a strength about her. It hurt me to see her struggle with finding her place and taking all the hits she faced and yet keep fighting to make it through. Jacob had a toughness about him that made him survive in a prejudiced world and gave him the fortitude to become the man This is a sweet easy-to-read (not quite light-hearted, but also not a heavy read either, despite the trials Ruth and Jacob face) story that made for a great weekend read. Jacob had a toughness about him that made him survive in a prejudiced world and gave him the fortitude to become the man he was. He also had a sense of gentleness and understanding to what Ruth was facing. Despite his growing attraction and love for Ruth, Jacob knew that she needed the hard truths he shared with her, even if it meant he had to hurt himself to give her what she truly needed. The two of them together found the comfort and love they needed to build a new life. Their history allowed for a unique acceptance and compassion for the other that I know will carry over after the last page. Ruth was the first Hebby Roman story I read and I'm looking forward to the rest of the trilogy!

Think back, to a time when our country was new. The War Between the States was over but tensions and prejudice were running high. People who thought they were good Christian people made excuses for treating others they thought were inferior to them as lesser class citizens. Now bring your memories forward just a few years and go out West. Think of the conditions that soldiers were required to live under and that they were instilled with the idea that they were the protectors. But, the protectors Think back, to a time when our country was new. The War Between the States was over but tensions and prejudice were running high. Now bring your memories forward just a few years and go out West. Think of the conditions that soldiers were required to live under and that they were instilled with the idea that they were the protectors. But, the protectors of whom? Now use your imagination. You are a young, 16 year old girl that has been stolen from her family and her world after watching her entire family be slaughtered. How would you survive? Would you do what you had to do to survive, even if it was distasteful? Or would you give up? This is the basis of the story by Hebby Roman in “Ruth, the Rescued Bride”. This story is one of the best attempts I have read that really shows the emotions and the life of one such young lady, Ruth. What was really heartbreaking was the way she was accepted back among her peers. Instead of being happy and welcoming her back, she was treated as if she was the lowest of the low. Everyone looked down on her, even the family that took her in. The men, with one exception, treated her like a lady of the evening. Now, that you are hopefully intrigued by this story, pick up the book. It took me only 1.5 days to read it I was so engrossed with it and could not put it down. Congratulations, Hebby Roman, for writing such a wonderful book. I look forward to many more.

Life on a frontier can have dangers, kind people and love. A young girl is taken captive when her home is overrun by Comanche. She is forced to live through alot of adversity and then the soldiers come, she delivers her baby and becomes ill. A scout rescues her and then things get complicated. A great story of life, death, soldiers, Natives and prejudices on the Texas frontier. A great story that had me crying at times and fuming at others. I highly recommend to one and all.

Amazing read I was kept spellbound by the unfolding of this story. It's so well written, I felt like a part of the story. It was as if I knew all the characters personally and even cried with Ruth for everything she had to endure in her life. I was riveted the whole time. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves the history of the old West. Amazing read I was kept spellbound by the unfolding of this story. It's so well written, I felt like a part of the story. A sweet little story It is a sweet story but spiked with some reality of the times and some history to boot. She puts in pieces of the cultures of Comanches and the life lived in those times. The book starts out with the harshness of Ruth and what happened. And Jacob deals with saving her life and trying to save her son's life. What happens next is the gentleness that Jacob can give her. This is the story of Ruth, a young woman captured by the Comanche and rescued by soldiers. In a time before cowboys and mail-order brides, her story is one of love, hope and personal forgiveness. Ms. Roman does a great job of capturing the views of the time and kept me intrigued throughout the book. I intended to start it quickly at lunch and before I knew it, I was already 40% into the book. I hated to put it down and go back to work. A fabulous tale that I would recommend to all. Steam level i This is the story of Ruth, a young woman captured by the Comanche and rescued by soldiers. So emotional! Tons of loss and gain, hurt and forgiveness! A storyline that reeks of reality! In this time of unrest in the country, this story was all too real! Loss of family, abduction, disdain, fear, death, revenge, war, soilders, Indians, & forts. Hebby shows a great deal of research as well as compassion and empathy! All blended with a seamless touch of Christianity in a lost world! Beautifully touching!

What a great story of the Old West - Indian trouble along with nasty people because of being captured by the Indians. However, Ruth does well with it thanks to Jacob and a few other friends and nurturing people. Decisions made, because of the circumstances she was in, make major changes in her life. Good read!

Good story! Ruth had been through much. More than most people. Until she learned to forgive, she would not be able to start living again. This is a story of great heartache and betrayal and what it takes to begin to heal and break free from the chains of heart wrenching grief and anger. Read this story and let the lesson it teaches soak into your soul.
